Happy so far with this game

I had been looking for a new MMO to 'call home' for a while before ending up buying aoc.

First impressions were very good, naturally, with the excellent graphics and gameplay, not to mention the questing and build-up early on in the game.

On the negative side, the Tortage experience was to an extent a single player experience. Also the ganking on a pvp server can feel demotivating at times. And to be honest, I'm not sure how many times it will be fun to go through the same starting area (if and when I roll alts). Another time won't be a problem and maybe not even a third, but at some point it will.

After Tortage the world opens up to the extent it can (there are quite a few loading screens on the way, but ye, I understand this is part of the price to pay for a beautiful hi-graphics world.

Still, after Tortage, less loading screens and more open landscape. Also, grouping has become a lot more frequent (which ofc is an important part of the MM's in  an MMO). The game runs smooth, animations are good. AI is a lot better than any mmo I've played and combat, the most important part (at least to me), is amazing. Playing a melee class I have gotten to know what the fuzz is about. No other  mmo comes even close.

I've only come about half way (level wise), but so far, this game is giving me that feel-good that playing my first mmo did. This also brings me to what I think is one of the best things with the core of the game. It's fun at level 17, it's fun at level 24, it's fun at all levels I've been because I enjoy the trip, and I don't only focus on getting to level cap when I'm having this much fun getting there.

As I said, I have yet to reach the end game, so I can't comment on that, but so far I'm having a blast.

I chose this game over other mmos because I can't bare another neon-glowing elf mmo, and pvp is my main turn on. This game is very satisfying in those instances. I hope it will stay this fun cos I don't want to game-hop if I don't have to.

My fondest memories of AoC all come after Tortage. I've leveled about 7 toons up in AoC and HATED myself for doing it each time, because everyone of them had to start out in the exact same horrible zone lol. I think more people would have stuck with the game longer if they had given different starting areas that actually added variety and canned the single-player instance. Its a breath of fresh air once you leave Tortage though.

see it was the opposite for me. Like most I personally loved Tortage. The first 20 levels were amazing but after that it just spirals down hill. Just started the game up since its been a year and a half want to see how it improved. Wish me luck

Glad you tried it, and found a game that you like.

I have enjoyed playing AoC since I came back. Glad to have you on board.

I was planning on to try AoC once again but after reading some of the posts here I think I'll pass.

Of course I could try the trial but unfortunately I threw out my install disc and that AoC client is huge.

I got a 15-day Fallen Earth trial key which I guess will be next on my to-do-list since it only requires 4GB download.

For anyone who takes this guy serious look at his posting history and sign on date. A very important tool every time you want to read peoples oppinons on these forums is to look at those two thing.s

I think a lot of trolls underestimate the readers on these forums. I soon learnt, after joining this forum, to check posting history and joined date.

Kind of funny with trolls bashing a game, then making an alt which makes a post about them being put off trying a game after reading posts here...Do you think that motivates him to troll more?
