And I quote the dev, "Classes always mean imbalance"
Ya there's no imbalance in a skill based system either. I mean, since you played longer you're not going to be imbalanced compared to me. OH and gear in this game DOESN'T AFFECT PVP. In fact everyone uses their tutorial weapons and run around naked. This game dev is brilliant. He really knows what he's talking about.
My god that post just made me realize how stupid the head dev is and there's no faith in this game now.  He actually is arrogant enough to think that he knows what's right and that a tride and TRUE system (Look at WoW, Aion, and just about every game out there including UO) doesn't work compared to his system.  I can't believe he actually can't man up and just admit he was too lazy to implement a balanced class system and so they decided to give everyone every skill for easy "balancing".
The only difference in this game is you truely feel helpless, and ARE helpless against anyone and everyone your first month.  There's no special skill you have that might give you an edge against a higher level player, as they have the same abilities.
I still can't believe he actually said the reason he doesn't want classes is because of imbalance... Like there isn't imbalance right now.
Hell in a game like Darkfall there's a natural imbalance - zerging, and those zerg alliances having the most resources/best gear to use vs small fries.  This is always a problem in war games.

Not to mention he went on to say that there's a "flavor of the month" build in those other games that just dominates.  Ya, there usually is but in Darkfall everyone is the FOTM.  Lets be honest, there are certain spells when cast one after another will ultimately out DPS other spell chaining and it will be found out if it's not already.  If you can learn all the spell lines, and only have 10 abilities in your bar... you'll probably figure out the best ones to have and put them i nthere.
a good portion of spells in DF are useless for example.

Class is imbalance.  Rogue kills mage.  Do I need to say more?

No crappy class system and no cap is what makes Darkfall NOT ANOTHER EQ CLONE like WoW.  WoW is not god, EQ came before it and had everything it had without the Battle.net crowd behind it.

    UO pre-trammel > Darkfall > ALL

A clue would help you very much. Rogue kills crappy mage or one that he is several levels above. Good mage with a ounce of awareness of his enviroment  kills rogue since rogue can't close on him.

Just more BS from the mouth of the shillbots.

You do realize that battle net had less people on it then the beta forums for DF? Naw probably not and you would lie about it anyway.

There were never 11 million battle net members so I guess WoW did something right. Now how about telling us how your greatest game of all time with less the 16K (using Darth's made up numbers) subs is doing so much right???

Been waiting 9 months and will keep waiting since none of you can ever show how DnF is so much better then even 9 Dragons or Silk Road. All that is ever thrown out is how great DF is how everything else is WoW. No concrete proof, examples, etc... Typical early pubescent emo angst replies over and over again is all we ever get.

Are you really suggesting that Silk Road, one the most imbalanced korean MMOs in history is better than DFO? Really? DFO is better for us, and even many of the people who have quit the game, than WoW becuase WoW holds your hand (all progression is linear), lacks meaningful player interactions (politics, economy, etc), and is a classed based game with class balance issues (just like every class game that has FOTM classes), and a raid dungeon loot hamster wheel.

Ok minus the fact that you're obviously annoyed with Raids, classes, etc...  As we all are, however the lack there of doesn't make DF a good game unless it comes up with NEW CONTENT to counter that normal way of playing.  DF's answer to New Content was NO content.

That's right.  NO balancing.  Tons of random skills totally unbalanced.  A world void and empty of anything.  Structured cities that you're limited to capturing (no awesome defense spots or scouting the landscape for awesome spots, just preset locations).

The content in this game is pathetic.  If you actually understood anything about game design you'd realize all they did was STRIP content and say well "It's better this way!"  In other words they convinced you to pay more for a game that has less.

Its really easy to prove that Darkfall is a better game than any other MMO out there.

I like it more than any other MMO out there.

I am not trying to be silly. I am trying to make the point that for ME its the most fun I have had in an MMO in a long time. I understand that for the vast majority of players it might suck. i understand that for many players it might not be the right game. for me though it is the right game.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how many players a game has. It doesn't matter that wow has 11 million and Warhammer has 300k. Whats matters is where I have the most fun. that means to me Darkfall is the best MMO on the market. Your opinion might be different and thats OK, but you can't convince me that I am not having fun when I am.

Darkfall isn't for everyone, but it is the perfect game for a segment of the market. if that segment is big enough to keep AV in business then thats all that matters.

Ummm, in a sandbox world it's up to the players to create the content... As far as skills go, name one game that has perfectly balanced skills.  UO is still balancing skills after 12 years.  DF is not a clone of anything.  It's the unholy love child of EQ and UO.  And it works just fine for those of us that played UO and EQ. It's an acquired taste.

"The community is the PLAGUE. Yes. THE PLAGUE. They are prison inmates. They are creatures from hell. Okay a little exaggorated... but not much. They are nothing but mean, egotistic and lack empathy. It is the worse of the worse that play here... So even if the game was good, I wouldn't recommend playing this game, ever. Trust me. All you'll run into around the world is grief, with the exception of a few. ..."

This is an issue in Darkfall at the moment.  But - the few are growing stronger all the time, because we don't want people's game experience ruined by PKs who camp newbies and such other anti-community play.  This game gives unparalleled freedom to players to shape the world for others, so the community is the game's biggest opportunity and threat at the same time.  That said, your choices have real consequences.

The GMs are becoming much more active and visible in-game hunting down macro cheaters, which is wonderful.  If you cheat, you seriously do risk a permanent ban, and merchants and crafters keep lists of suspected cheats and do not trade with them.  Consequences.

And - if you ask for help in-game, you very well may get it.  Especially if you ask Grace in Mir Bellith nicely.

You're right.  You can ask anything in chat and actually get an answer not someone flaming you and calling you a "n00b".  And then you'll get multiple private messages from people saying "I know how hard it is starting off.  If you need any help msg me."  The community reminds me alot of the old UO community where yes there were a a fair share of assjacks but there was an even bigger share of people willing to team up and help because it's the only way to survive.

As far as those saying "go back to WoW"....

WoW Is way more hardcore than this game will ever be.  It's also cheaper and way higher production value.
WoW's the only game I know that people chose to lose their wives/husbands, jobs, etc... just so they could play it a little more.  Name one game that's more hardcore than that.
So before you start saying Darkfall's more hardcore...  play WoW to the highest level, and try getting the best gear and I'll tell you right now it puts this game to shame.
Darkfall is a bargain bin game charged at 50 dollars.  It's a crime really.

I remembered someone in EQ killing himself because his account got hacked.

Well I think a game can be addictive but still easily weaved into normal real life styles of the average person.  The problem lies in that WoW is pretty damn fun for awhile, and for some people that fun never ends.  Something Darkfall is far from.  WoW also requires a lot of time committment to be effective and competative.  So if your friends are playing 6+ hours a day, you're going to have to keep up in order to be able to play with them and also to be wanted in Raids/groups.  So it's a very hardcore game if you consider the time committment.  It basically asks for your life and everyone elses with you.  People are aware of this regardless of what they tell you, but the game is a lot more hardcore than Darkfall.

The only thing Darkfall has that WoW doesn't is full loot and you can take over the pre-designated towns.  Yes pre-designated.  You can't build a town anywhere, only in the given spots.  However, looting in Darkfall is a moot point since you can still be effective/kill someone if your skills are higher than theirs and you're naked with a lower rank staff and some regs.  Loot in Darkfall does matter contrary to belief, as two equally skilled people fight the one with the better gear has the advantage.  Most people however don't run around with the best gear on because the time committment to make it is rediculous, and it's so easy to lose.

So the only difference is Darkfall has full loot, way more immature community (which I didn't think was possible) and city capturing (poorly designed imo as anyone can beat on your house freely in the middle of the night with a siege hammer).

The fact that DFO doesn't have a gear grind hamster wheel to supplement any real content makes DFO better than WoW IMO. Oh, and meaningful player interactons. And saying the player base is more mature in WoW is very subjective. Have you seen barrens chat? Yea that doesn't happen in DFO and most players are mature really.

Open pvp games attract the worst communties. Thats part of the price you pay for playing a game like this.

I stopped playing at only macroers stay competitive.

Because by saying that, we know that you quit a long time ago and now that you know that DF is popular at mmorpg, you come here and post to try to make other get away from the game with old stuff instead of the news.

If you play darkfall today, the grind is easy. There is no reason to macro anymore because under a month, you can now compete to pvp.

It's clear that he hasn't played Darkfall for quite some time. Check the guy's post history, it's very amusing. He almost exclusively posts in this forum, and occasionally will post in the MO forums. Like I said in another thread he even has to bash Darkfall over there.

From Urban Dictionary (Real dictionaries do not contain this word):

    "1. Failbot

Describing someone or an event which failed greatly in terms of its objective."

Yes Phranky boy! Darkfall is still here! You have had zero effect on the game throughout your long crusade. Except of course all of the free advertising you do for Aventurine. So failbot is being thrown around much too freely and ignorantly here. Much like the Vaporware crap, lol.

Re-read the definition Phranky boy. We all know you are the official Phailbot around here.

I haven't posted in awhile because I haven't played an MMORPG in awhile.  I'm just sick of grinding.  I played so many MMO's back in the day and grinded lots of characters and I just can't do it anymore it stopped being fun.

I actually bought the game early September and only played for a month.  The game's grind is really bad.  As it stands, it will take you at least 3 months to catch up to other players stats if not longer (assuming you don't cheat).

    Let me restate that;

    assuming you don't:

hold a button down and go do something else/watch tv so you macro running/walking/swimming.

    macro in general.

    Play 6+ HOURS A DAY.

There is literally no way you could remain competative with only 1-3 hours to play every other day.  This is and will always be a game that requires total devotion.  It will require you to give up your computer for macroing purposes.  It will require you to kill your 600 dollar computer by macroing it all night long and day and wearing down the life span of it.  Why?  It's called horrible game design that awards macroers over players.

As far as gear not being important... it is important, and it's just as grindy as WoW.  Even more so.  WoW you grind your gear and have it and you don't ever lose it.  This game, you're constantly losing it.

I guess if you're part of one of the bigger guilds with guild mines then mining for resources isn't as BRUTAL AND HORRIBLY AWEFUL as I saw it but personally I'd take doing a WoW raid over mining for ore for 20+ hours for a suit of armor/weapons that you'll probably lose over and over again and have to keep remaking for the rest of your existance.

I played Shadowbane and I didn't feel nearly as negative about it even though when the game was closed down you still got stick in objects in the world FREQUENTLY.  That's how bad Darkfail is.

For some reason people think just because full loot is on that this is REAL PVP.   It's not, you can get ganked just as much and lose just as much game time in any other PVP game out there if someone wants to be truely malicious.  The only difference is the "FULL LOOT" tag is a beacon for idiots to come in and play, that's ALL.

As far as the Barrens chat being more friendly, yes yes it is.  I remember countless public chats of people attacking new players verbally 24/7, camping the goblin area and talking crap to them.  I remember countless racist comments, one guy talking about cocaine and having sex with his girlfriend who passed out on the floor.  The difference is in WoW chat like that when reported actually goes noted.

    davospice (OP),

You were very clear on how you felt about DFO in your first large post starting this thread.   You've now posted 12 times in this thread and have suggested Fallen Earth and AION are better games and what you suggest others play.

Are you posting to express your views, or ram them down our throats?

I'm sure you look great with wings on, but you don't need to save us.   The gaming community is pretty savvy.  Trust me when I tell you we genuinely understand your views.    I find many of them rediculous, but respect they are true for you.   Really, what more is there to say?

    Enjoy your game of choice.

I know. You really have to wonder about someone who puts in this much effort so long after a game has been out. It's utterly ridiculous.

Thankfully I didn't listen to any of this crap. I ended up getting and loving Darkfall. I even tried both of the games he suggested. Both decent titles, just not my flavour. FA may end up being a nice niche game for many, whereas with Aion I'm not sure I got it really. Liked the graphics, but I just don't see a need for anymore games in this bloodline. With or without the wingies.
