If they released a server with only Pre-Luclin, would you play?

just curious, i hated the game after luclin.

You know if they did it after or around the time of LDoN or GoD they would of probly got a nice hunk of people. But now with WoW EQ2 CoH and the other games out thier dont think to many would. Now if they didnt charge a monthly fee yes they would but that would never happen. I remember wishing they did do that around the time PoP came out hell think I even signed a petition on a forum requesting it lol.
yes, they need to release a server with pre-luclin, only differnce is have the luclin char. models, right? or did you mean, axactly as it was b4 luclin?
to answer my own question, yes, with the new models and such i belive, due tot he fact it is installed in your own directory you launch out of so, yes, the new models and everything

Heck yeah I'd do it. Once Luclin came out, the game just sucked. Easy portals everywhere. Bazaar (ugh). Only improvement was the models, they were alot better looking.
This is my dream, actually thought they had done it when they had the freedownload and freetrial period but on 1 or 2 namned servers.

I have tried to find a new game to play after EQ but there isnt a game around that will take my attention like EQ did, DAoC, AC1 or AC2 and ofcourse EQ 2, I live in Europe so no WoW yet for me.
I have also Beta tested a few games none that will take my attention when they come out, I tend to agree, pre Luclin there isnt a better game out yet.
I still curse EA for putting Ultima X down, I had high hopes for that game, now I can only hope that Vanguard aint that far away.

Personally I have spoken with my friends about this before, as far as the casual gamer goes the excessive expansions put you so far back most people couldn't keep up so they stopped trying and cancelled. Most of the former players I have spoken with say they would not go back either way (who knows if that is true..) If they were to put up a pre-luclin server would I go back? Yes, IF the price was like $4.99 a month. The best implementation is as follows.
1. Create 3 servers. 1 original world, 1 kunark, and 1 velious.
2. Free character "copies" of a current charahter to any one of the 3 servers, without losing the original character, but delevelling as is necessary. Gives people something additional to do.
3. Remove all gear from the "copied" character. I believe it would be too complicated to figure out which gear was from which time, etc. Since there would be too many problems, all charachters start out naked with 0 plat and no spells.
I think that in the long run this type of server would only add a few months playability before they are eventually barren as well, but seeing as how they are going to need to "merge" servers anyways, it gives them something to try with an old one.
Heres how it should play. I mark my 63 or whatever character to transfer to "original" EQ. When the server launches, my original char is still on my old server (all expansions) but my "twin" is on a no expansion old world server, naked, and minus spells and delevelled appropriately. It will suck for a few days but wont take long for people to outfit themselves. Alternatively, I begin a new character (ideally it wont take as long to level as it used to..keep that the same or perhaps even improve). I play my "new" character up to 50, enjoying the content and world. Once I am tired of the old world, I can mark my character for a transfer to a Kunark enabled server, when it becomes available. Once on the kunark server, I enjoy the content, etc and do my thing until I am bored once again, and mark it for a transfer to a velious server, and repeat.
I have spoken to many players who have joined the game in the last few years that missed out on the original content of Everquest and have always wanted to try it. At the cost of 1 server they could give it a try (could even use the same server for all 3 expansions, just mark the charachter when you would like them enabled, or have a new expansion enabled every 6 months). Something to think about, I personally think if they made the subscription cheap enough it would be worth a go. Besides, I have yet to play a game that was as much fun as original EQ.
Pre luclin EQ:
. Ofcourse i would play on a pre luclin server! I'm one of those that missed out on the original game and started playing just before pop came out. I curse myself for not starting to play earlier and hope i will be given a chance to experience the real EQ. If i do not get this chance i can do nothing else but wait for the one and only game which can come close to match the original EQ- Vanguard:Saga of Heroes.
