Does anyone know of a way to pipe the HD signal coming off a cable box into a PC? I'd rather not go the route of an HD tuner as the HD stations I enjoy watching are all via cable thru my cable provider and must be decoded thru their cable box.
Assuming I am able to pipe component video cables coming from the cable box to the back of myPC, what type of hardwaresoftware would I need for the PC to accept the HD signal and display it on the HD-capable monito
Also, I'd like to split the component video cables so it can still run to a TV and the PC as the same time.
Is this even possible?
I'm not creative enough to have a signature

It should be possible with a tuner. Instead of using the tuner as its own cable box, you would use it as an intermediary device between your PC and your cable box. It would be similiar to how your TV interacts with a cable box. Just set it to channel 3, then have the cable box change the channels.
Cleffy is right. I actually work for Canada's largest cable company. A lot of the DCT (digital cable terminals) we have are the same as the ones sold in the US.
For your PC to display HD stations from your cable company you will need a tuner. An external one like this or an internal version. Or something like this Hauppauge HD PVR from which you would have to connect your Cable box too. These will get you the premium HD stations and not just OTA ones like ABC CBS PBS and so on which you will find with AVerTV cards getting Clear QAM only.
I would recommend the Hauppauge and read through some on the comments from the link to new egg to get a better idea. Also check out http://www.engadgethd.com/ for some good resources and tips.
