Yes, on Blackrock and some other high-pop servers it isn't uncommon for there to be a 1000+ person queue during primetime.

Just go complain about it on the official forums.. oh wait, you can't because the login servers are down again...

If you chose a server with a high population the chances are you're gonna have to get used to waiting in queues.

If you just started your character recently I'd recommend moving to a less populated server (I'm on Eredar and haven't had any lag or queues whatsoever since I moved). You'll have to start again, but the long term benefits are obvious.

Blizzard are currently discussing plans to allow people to switch servers at some point, but don't hold your breath since they're not known to rush things.

By the way, now every server with High population has a queue(I think, at least most do).

Blizzard messed something up(again).. check the forums for thousands of complaints and more info.

I didn't know when i started this game which server was going to be the most populated, They should let you one time move to new server, It's there problem they should fixit. It's like there telling us " Dang we spent years of dev. and Months of research we didn't think anyone would acutally want to play the game." Blizz really dropped the ball. The consumer shouldhn't have to grin and bear it. This isn't some beta this isn't some Mod game a geek invented in his basement, we pay our money to play this game. We don't deserve to work 10 hrs. a day at our jobs and come home to a wait time of 45 min in a 532 person Que. I'm paying money to sit at my computer and watch a screen count down the min untill it think's i'm going to get to play. F- it i'm going to play checkers

This has got to be the most rediculus thing i have ever come up on.

Thanks for the website but I dont' think that checking if the site is up or down is going to help. The point is.... it's always down, If not down then i have to wait to get on. Going to a website to tell me it's down isn't going to speed up the process. Not flameing just saying like an hour ago I got on my server and says i was #532 in Que. that means i have to wait for 532 people to get offline to play. I don't have a lot of time to play the game. I'm just saying that with the few short hours i do decide to play no matter what game, especially if i'm paying to play, I shouln't have to wait and hour.

my bad you ment before you join that server?
in that case that would have been helpful the day the game came out, I have too much time into my toon to up and leave plus my guild is on there. but if it came down too it I would leave if that was the choice i had to make just saying that blizz should have been more prepared and now there caught with there pants down they should have exit stragity.

Yeah I understand, Sorry I couldnt help with your current problem this site was just for future refrence if you decited to change servers or someone else who is just starting, so they could choose a low pop server to reduce or eliminate this downtime. Wish I could help you

My only suggestion would be to take a trip to Blizzard HQ and smack a few people around until they get there act together.image

That is just wrong and sad - but alas, true! Funny!!!

I got in not too long after I first posted, but my play was very jerky. Too annoying to play that way, so I quit - bad move! I wasn't able to get in again because of a 500+ queue and when I did get in I wasn't at my computer so it disconnected me! LOL *sob*

In general I have been a pretty strong supporter of most of what Blizzard has done with WOW. But they really have some serious problems with the game at this point in time.

Unfortunately those of us who started playing at day one have a lot invested in our current character and in our guilds. Allowing people to move might help the situation, but for larger guilds that does not work. I am in support of this idea though, at least we might clear up some of the overpopulation problems we are experiencing.

Like others have said, it would be nice to be able to post on the official WOW forums about this. But you cannot log in there over 75% of the time.

I have had this happen in other mmorpg's as well. SWG and Lineage II both have had this issue at some point. I would bet they will get it worked out, in time.......

I play on a high pop server (Blackhand) and i do get disconnected sometimes but never have a queue to get back in.  The only time i have ever had one was when i switched servers and then switched back.  I had 356 ppl and it only took 9mins.  THis all happened at about 9:00 (est).  My comp is by no means the best out there but i never have the problems i see on the forums.  What's the deal?

I have plyed several other MMOs and most start with problems and work themselves out after a few months. WoW hasn't even been out for 2 months yet and everyone expects it to be perfect.  Nothing is ever perfect the first time.

No one i play with has any real problems besides lag and the odd disconnect.  There seems to me that are more people with no problems than people with problems.

This is not meant to attack anyone just wondering what the crying is about?

Being in a queue is not a problem with anyone's computer, it is a problem with the server not being able to handle its load.

I didn't cry about the 9 min wait, I cried about the 45 minute wait. And if you aren't at your computer to jump in, then you are stuck with another 45 minute wait. In other words, paying for a game you can't play.

It is like you've already paid for the amusement ride, you wait in line for an hour to ride the best roller coaster.  If you and your buddies have to run to the restroom, you lose your place in line. Not only that, you race back only to find out it is closing time so you have to leave the amusement park!

    Does that help you understand?

  • ZprimeZprime Member Posts: 37
Sorry I wasn't really clear about what I meant.  I meant why are the wait times so long for about the same number people? is that a server problem or is that a case of there are too many people on the server who have nothing better to do than play for hours and hours?

I'm not sure why the wait times are so long, this is the first time it happened to me and I've played for a month now.

It is a server problem, you can't fault the people who want to play a game they have paid for.  (To use my amusement park analogy...) Once you get into the amusement park, there is no limit to the number of times you can ride the best roller coaster. Just because someone has been there riding since the park opens doesn't mean they have to quit riding because other people show up.

Since everyone has paid for their tickets, Blizzard needs to add more rides! image

Plenty of "rides" available on the low pop servers. No matter what they do to that hardware, the number of people it can accomodate is finite.

The players need to get the fuck off the high pop servers, thats the bottom line. If it takes Blizzard to FORCE people off via server moves, so be it, but I still think the player community is incredibly immature and whiney for not getting up and doing it on their own.

They'd rather sit there and bitch every night than get up and reroll.

No, I haven't had to wait on queue at all.

I feel pretty lucky now to have started late (a month after release) and picked the server that was recommended to me. I also don't feel very invested in any of my characters and I have no intentions of joining a guild, so I wouldn't have any problem picking up and moving to another server if suddenly mine had a line.

My heart goes out to all those serious players with guild commitments and characters that you feel invested in who are playing on high population servers and/or servers that have been having extra downtime lately.

I'm not sure why you are so upset if you aren't experiencing any problems.

But ugh...I don't even want to think about starting a new character on another server right now. The idea of spending all that time and effort to get to where I already am? Nope - that doesn't appeal to me at all.

Dude...this is not Everquest. Even if you're level 60, all it takes is like 2 weeks of grinding.

I just find the game incredibly easy, and it makes me feel flabbergasted when people complain about "all that work" they put into it. There was a level 60 like 8 days into release. If I logged into my server tonight and saw a queue, I would jump on the lowest pop server and reroll without missing a beat.

any maybe when your next server you move too gets to full you should forgoe that toon and start all over again kmimmorpg <chuckles>. Over and over again, thats worth paying a monthly for...

Seriously though, I think if I was in that boat I would have to agree with you. There is no way I would wanna have to do something twice because of a deficiency in the game.

The weird thing is that even though I see the High tag on my server, I hardly ever get placed in a queue. I am on the Lightning Blade PvP server. Are PvP servers better tuned?

I'm on Ner'Zhul and it is a PvP server. So I'd say no. But it would be nice - not fair - but nice!
