i think Blizzard realised it was onto a bit of an untapped goldmine when they offered faction changes so paid for race changes were not entirely unexpected but could the next logical step be paid for class changes .
Just pay your money and allakhazam your hunter is now a rogue . Of course not having the gear might be a bit prohibative you ll have to retrain up all those rogue skills but i m betting it will happen sooner or later along with a type of item shop for cosmetic things like exotic mounts pets etc . (that does nt mean things like weapons armor etc ) Blizzard certainly know how to make money and i dont think they are going to miss a trick when it comes to all the possibilitys for getting thier players to part with thier hard earners cash or the hard earnerd cash thier parents give them .
Its only a matter of time .

I seriously doubt they'll do class changes. People rolling alts of another class keeps them paying and playing longer. A guy that was in same guild as me, back when I use to play. Had 3 mages, all Human. If they did do Class change service, probably see more DK's and Paladins around. From my understanding they are the FOTM classes at the moment, from what I've been reading.

Blizzard would be offering to sell trolls next. $50 per troll fresh with all nonsense ideas about WoW.
Problem is, they have too much competition. The couple above.
Yup, totally considering most old players are still around
Someone said something very similar a couple of years ago when i suggest paid faction changes might eventually happen . I had a thread of people saying i was a troll and it could nt ever happen . I was right then and i bet i m right now . Perhaps you ll get remember writing this when Blizzard impliment it and think perhaps he was nt a troll but someone that saw the way things are going .
I m actually not against a cosmetic item shop . Cosmetic items dont interfere with gameplay so as long as you ve worked to get your first epic mount epic/ flying mount i have no problem with people buying something a little different . Same thing with pets .
As for class changing i ve pointed out the obvious problems with it . But if people want to pay for it and go through the all it takes to get gear etc fair enough . I started a warrior a few years ago on Aerie peak got him to the mid 50s and decided i did nt like playing warriors i was in quite a nice guild there and i would nt have minded the option to change him to something else .
Wait and see class changes are the next thing on the agenda .
Faction change, Name change and Race change has ZERO impact on other gamers, unless 50% of alliance decide to go and be horde, which will ofc not happen.
Class change is a whole other beast, blizzard would not introduce a feature that would effect other gamers, a rogue trying to play a mage for the first time would be a disaster for all he came in contact with.
I could see a feature such as with the DK where you can start a mage at lvl 55 but there would have to be an area set aside to teach a player how this class plays as they did with the DK.
Besides the features of cataclysm show such a feature wont be here in the near to distant future, 2 new races, new race/class combinations, revampled 1-60 content & cross server dungeons makes makeing a new toon a fun experience.

Someone may have disagreed with you back then about faction changes, but it doesn't make this case any more valid though. I would have agreed with you personally and i had heard many people over the years talk about wanting to do it. Just like them not allowing pver's to move to pvp servers , I asked why not? So for someone to disagree with you back then is just someone who couldn't see the whole picture just as you are now.
There is a HUGE difference in doing any of those things compared to allowing a class change. I'd have to say, never going to happen.
Terrible post is Terrible.
They will NOT allow class changes. Yes lets have even MORE people who dont know how to play their class. And as another poster said they want people making alts, this would affect alt making in a negative way. I disagree with your reasoning full heartedly, sorry.

Faction change, Name change and Race change has ZERO impact on other gamers
Wrong, right, and wrong. Faction change absolutely impacts other gamers. You're messing with populations. Name is cosmetic/social. Races still have racials, and therein, you alter population interaction.
Class change is a whole other beast, blizzard would not introduce a feature that would effect other gamers, a rogue trying to play a mage for the first time would be a disaster for all he came in contact with.
They already have, with server transfers and faction changes. Population migrations towards high-pop servers by hardcore-seekers has been prevalent.
Over half of WoW hardly knows how to play their class well to begin with. A rogue trying to play a mage for the first time in many cases would be trading one class for another, but a noob regardless. A smart gamer figures out how to play any class they play, a noob will continue to noob it up. Granted, some classes are better suited for certain personalities and playstyles, but for the most part, skill and intuition determine a good player, not their class.
I could see a feature such as with the DK where you can start a mage at lvl 55 but there would have to be an area set aside to teach a player how this class plays as they did with the DK.
'Teach a player' their class has gone the way of the dodo. I've met more DKs than I can count who don't know where the Undercity, of all places, is found. Hell, in vanilla I met 60 warriors who had never equipped a shield. There's hardly any 'class tutorials' in the game, and thus, no one would be worse off for a simple class swap.
Blizzard should have never started with paid changes. As another poster mentions, their initial stance was 'we will never allow x'. Over time, they've chipped away repeatedly on every stance they've taken. My money's on eventual class switches. History does indeed repeat itself after all.
That is exactly right, and we're not saying NO to save WoW, because it is already a lost cause. We are saying NO to dissuade the next group of greedy suits who decide to emulate Blizzard and Cryptic, etc.
We can prevent some of the future games from spewing this crap, but the sooner we start saying no, the better the results will be.
So - Stand up, pull up your pants, and walk away.

I for one would welcome that change, it sucks having to roll a new character only to repeat all the same quests/content/instances you already did with your first or second character.
As for item shop, i would also welcome that and would be the first in line to use it. Not to mention for those of us that actually work for a living rather than playing a game all day and weekends it will allow us to obtain items that we would not otherwise have the time for.
Wow the whiners are out in force...who the f cares. Let people pay for this crap if they want it. They are not buying your precious raid armor, faction loot, etc. Who cares. Another post of the whiny children of the world complaining that they might have to work a real job in the real world if they want something like this instead of spending hours in their parents basement grinding for it feeling superior. What real effect does someone changing even class have on you...nothing. God you people cry about everything.
I see a lot of the argument that alts are what keep people paying and playing the game,so class change would affect that.
Ummnn,if you have an Orc warrior and want an Undead one guess what?,you could roll an alt!! Now you have the option to buy one,so how is class change different? You have the ability to roll an alt in either case, but now one can be bought.
I see it as an opportunity to play another class and with time the person trying the new class will get better. It sounds as if you assume all people would change class just for raids and such. What about people that play the game to have fun and don't raid?Maybe they want to pvp?If I do a class change and suck at it that's my $25 not anyone elses.
People were given the DK at 55 and were brand new to it,I don't see a problem having a new class at 70 or 80.In time you'll learn that class.I have a blast playing this game and I think far to many people take the game too serious.
P.S. I also see it as an opportunity to have more healers at high level, many people don't want to level a priest!
i hope you remember this thread when it does happen .
but a DK has a starting zone designed to teach a player about the class, quests that unlock talent points and used specific skills and abilities. They could not leave the starting zone untill they completed the quest line.

You're right the DK has it's own starting area to acclimate the player to the class.I guess I'm just hoping it happens.
I remember right after Wotlk was released and reading all the post's on other forums requesting all classes start at 55 if you had an 80 already. If enough people request it,it could happen,it's a lot of potential money for Blizzard
As soon as Blizzard feels they are losing money and need to once again make a drastic change to hold on to those dear subs...

DAOC had something similar with their /level command. I wouldn't be opposed to someone with an 80 being able to use a command to level the new character up to 20 or 25 at most. Of course I don't think that would work well with the new expansion. Would have been nice if it was added before. I would have resubbed in heartbeat. Though I do plan to resub soon, and I still need to buy WOTLK. The new expansion idea's peaked my interest enough to get me to go back to WoW.

In my opinion very few people roll an alt of the class they already have at the highest level.

well i told you so .... less than two weeks after i forcast an item shop for pets it becomes a reality . and i m betting i ll be right about the paid for class changes too .

No where in this thread did you state "this will add an item store". I can read.

its all there in black and white .
and i m used calling items cosmetic that you proberbly call vanity items .
