Whats the point of PvP....?

pingopingo Member UncommonPosts: 608

I dont understand some people.

Why do they care if paladins is overpowered..

It is not like it will never be fair anyway.

Does people who play 20 hours a day and get the OMFG godly items!111 when farming instanced all day long, will always dominate PvP:/

It is not about skill... Just playing time..

Items makes all the difference if you win and lose, so why moan over inbalance between the classes?

I just dont understand the point...

It is just laughable all does people who think they are 1337 when they constantly win in pvp and tell others that they have skill^_^

or would you say that actual tactics, understanding of your class/the enemys class is more important than items?image

Heh... I can't tell if this is a joke or not, so I am just going to assume that you are a bit special and try and answer your post.

In my experiences, I have a 40 Hunter on Sargeras, PvP is all about who gets the jump.  Items can only effect so much, because dps doesn't save you from dying, and great armor does not mean great damage.  Every battle is different.  Level 40's can kill 45's (if they are fighting mobs or have low health) and obviously higher levels can kill lower levels.  Class also has alot to do with who is the most succesful in PvP.  In general Priest > Mage Mage > Warrior and so on.

Usually, whoever gets the first attack in wins, and if that is skill then PvPing takes skill.

I too find it funny sometimes when individuals say they have skills.  There are too many differences between 2 characters of the same level.  If two characters are exactly the same (like in a First Person Shooter game where everyone is the same and only your skills can save you) then yeah you can say you got skills.  I somewhat agree with the original poster, with time and effort you can become a l33t dude in pvp ...

Firstly, Pallys are not overpowered, any ranged class should pwn Pally every time, period. Equipment can only make you so good as there are level restrictions on it. What people seem to be failing to understand is that WoW is geared toward, and balanced toward group PvP, not 1v1. In group PvP, tactics are everything. I have been in groups that have pwned other groups that were ?? to us, its all about knowing how to work your class with other clasees, using the right buffs, totems, auras, etc at the right time.

its all just about the ego of a man to me when it comes to PvP. I wouldnt want to play a PvP with a person on a powertrip (which is pretty much everyone on WoW) cause i find that braggers arent gamers. They are ppl with no lives who gotta rip thru the game so that they can say that they beat it b4 everyone else. I dont brag when i beat some one, i just say GG and walk away.

Wish i couls have played 20 hrs. Everytime i tried it would always crash on me after about 15 minutes or so . Finally gave up and cancelled my account after about a week. The juvenile delenquent community was really getting on my nerves anyways. Bought Everquest 2 and i must say EQ2 is the most fun i have ever had in front pf my computer. I have played almost every mmorpg that has came out now for the last 4 years. EQ2 is awesome i will probably go to my grave with this one. After playing EQ2 i have no desire to ever play anything else. Rock On SONY!!!

WoW is one of the most balanced game that i have played, you consider the pally overpowered because he can heal and use 2 immunity shields, but the pally has these skills because they have no big power attacks, like a rogue with SS and evis. or a hunter with aim shot, also a pally has no slowing spells cept for a stun that last 5secs and has a 1min cooldown, i have a 45 pally and 47 rogue, and when i pvp horde on my pally all they do is run, and i cant do anything about it, you talk about a pally being over powered but what good is it if while ur healing, a shaman turns into a wolf and runs from u, every char has its pro's and con's, so stop b*tching. plus noone has even seen real pvp yet, battlefields isnt out yet, and when it is out, im sure 1 person who farms all day wont make much of a difference, for battlefield will be more about teamwork and organization, and with the lvl cap being 60, there should be no complaints seeing how you can get 60 in 1 month, its not like people stay lvl's ahead of you if u dont grind everyday of your life, like in other games.

PS. when chars get overpowered in wow they get nerf'ed, if u haven't noticed with the warrior, the priest, and the polly, and sap skills.

Exactly.  That's why I hate PVP.  Okay not hate entirely, but I hate people that play MMORPGs just for PVP.  It's a waste of time, it brings nothing to your character other than personal fame.  When you killed someone in PVP, you think they will remember you name?  No.  They'll just go on with their business until they get killed (or kill) next time by someone else.

With the time my guild wastes doing raids or PVPing every night, I tell'em to get back to me when they are done to re-do instance farming or finish quests.  They say I'm not a team-player?  Yeah guess what, if you want my help, then I'll help for something useful!  Not waste my time killing players and risking to get killed in the process just to waste valuable Leveling & Experience time.

I'll PVP when I'm level 50+.  That way when there is a Level 60 (or several) players of the opposing faction just waiting to kill lower level chars, I'll have a chance at him.  But any Raids before Level 50 is a complete waste of time.

Like I said before, just cause you killed 2-3 opposing faction players, won't make you famous.  You'll be known to them as "The (alliance/horde) level ## that killed me during last night's raid".  You'll never be known as "(insert your name) the guy that killed me during last night's raid".

Think about it. When someone kills you in PVP.  Do you actually go around saying: "OMG! I was killed by (insert enemie's name)!  He totally owned me! He's gonna be a legendary PVPer!"

No... you say: "I was owned by that Level ## (insert class name)" ... then his name is forgotten until he kills his next person.

Although, there are some people that end up with a name for themselves!  In SWG, there was an Imperial called TK-IOI on either Kauri server ... I'll never forget that name cause day after day, he was known for soloing, all on his own, Rebel Outposts, Rebel Cities and just walking around Declared all the time.  He was well known until everyone figured out he's just a Master Swordsman + Master Fencer + Master Brawler with TKA skills, got best Doctor Buffs from his alt, had uber 80% resistance armor, drank brandy, ate canape, got Musician & Dancer buffs... then everyone copied him, everyone became uber, and TK-IOI became a nobody... no one spoke of him anymore except for people like me that just mention his name for the kick of it.

But hey, he had his 1 week of fame and all the Rebels spoke of him.   In WoW... try soloing for more than 10 minutes even at Level 60, you will get owned but a group of Level 30-50's.  And you won't be known as a hero, you'll just be known as an idiot for trying to do the impossible.

Allrighty than, As of right now ( and always ) I play on the server Malygos! The server is a normal server with medium load.

I chose the normal server because I dislike the idea of someone randomly waltzing up to me and stabbing me in the back while im fighting a monster and than camping my body as i come back to it. We've all heard the long drawn out horror stories about greifers and campers and waah waah waah. That is why I chose a normal server, to save myself the headache's.

That being said, I dislike pvp as a whole, but have noticed that in my server. it can actually be quite fun when the conditions are right. Let me throw some examples out there, or what im talking about to you. Your riding around minding your own business, just trying to get from point A, to point B ( arent we all ) You come across a Tauren. lets say your lvl 35.. and he is lvl 34. Your up for a challenge, so you kinda sit there for a moment. You decide, hey why not. You throw up your pvp tag and before you know it, he gets up the guts to attack you. Battle commences and thats that. Its really quite fun. Its a mutual agreement of consensual death if you will. Than all you have to do is wait 5 minutes after you or he dies and your free to do what you want!

This also reminds me of a point a lot of people make about Level specs that people complain about. I hear a lot of people.. whats the point when there are 2 lvl 50 people and im lvl 38? or im lvl 52 and there is a lvl 60 undead rogue... Well, thats the glory of being in a normal server. For one, you dont have to worry about them killing you unless your stupid enough to put up your /pvp tag, and than you can always yell over /1 ( since as we all know, the horde cannot read what alliance say, and vice versa ) and ask for reinforcements. If the undead really want a fight, they'll hold their ground for wherever their at and soon enough, someoen will come to the aid if their proud enough and willing to fight for the alliance ( or horde in any case ) and than you can have your little scurmish!

The server that i am on has a lot of raids. We usually raid the Crossroads which is fun, but gets old when guard after guard after guard just spawns endlessly and when all the horde puppies hide inside the barracade and wait for all the alliance to rush in when inevitably we all die. Its not so much the pvp aspect of what class is better than what class when im doing it, its more of a..." May the alliance in all its glorious light smite those who are unworthy of its warmth!" Type of thing... So i go out there.. you got your whole team out there and everyone is attacking... magic is flying.. you get caught up and lost at the same time in all the panic and anarchy, but your having a blast, even if you die. I guess thats my aspect of being on a normal server. Since im not pvp all the time, the only time i think about pvp is when im raiding with a group of people ( 40+).

if u dont no GW is more like skill based where u need stragy ...not 24 hrs a day of free time to play.. in WoW a person who played 100 hrs vs a person who played 500 hrs who welll win ..... well let me just take a wild guess the guy with the uber 1000000++++ armor and shit ... guild wars tho the person with the better stragy well most likely win so give it a try and no monthly fees so save your self 180 a yr
