No narration, no developers discussing the game's lore, just a full minute (well, closer to 40 seconds) of explosive space and ground action in this latest Star Trek Online trailer appearing over at GameSpot.
I know this goes against the grain, but the space combat bits I see from this game lower my expectations while the ground combat bits don't... Maybe it's because I actually like the avatars, whereas I really don't like how they seem to have handled space - seems much too bright, much too colorful, much too busy for my taste. I can't shake that arcade feeling.
A touch of arcade feel to space combat imo would be a good thing, it would make it more action packed. Honestly its looking good. but I'm not making up my mind Until more concrete info/gameplay is released.
Ugh I dunno doesnt look good. It looks like the typical stand around and take hits at NPC press 1-2-3 thing. I've been spoiled recently by certain game mmo where I have to move around to shoot stuff... I just hope its more dynamic than it seems.
There may very well have been more phaser and other weapons fire in that 1:01 trailer than there was in the entire run of the original series LOL
However, I guess to make the Star Trek universe into a "Game" it sort of requires a larger amount of combat.
/shrug

It's not about a Star Trek game having combat. But so far all what Cryptic have shown us to date is combat, combat and more combat. Nothing else!

Pew Pew Pew. Like that's all there is. /Yawn.
Very true. There seeming to play the "This L o o k s cool, card". honestly as a trek fan it DOES look very cool, but as an mmo player as well, I would like to see (as many others do) more of the other game aspects.

Got to say i like the look of the ground based content more too, although the gameplay vids do make it look a little too generic at times. Standing 3 inches from someone whilst blasting them in the face with a phaser for a few minutes just doesn't seem right, hopefully it won't actually be like that though.
Got too mirror that space seems too busy aswell. Brightly coloured nebula's glaring at you from every corner of the screens in alsmost every screenshot they've shown:(. And can you just imagine how much lag all those floating objects are going to cause?
Only thing I can say in the games defence is that these are trailers designed to sell the game so i guess they are trying to show some of the more 'occupied' areas of the game and hopefully it won't all be like that.

Looks cool. I wonder how getting your ship blown up will affect your character. This video had a lot more explosions than the last one.
