Sorry for my ignorance... But... What? And, if I am understanding what you are implying, then isnt that just good business sense? Wouldnt you want to launch a money making service right before the largest spending time of the year?
yeah, that is exactly my point however wow has been a p2p game and now they are wripping people off with the new rmt stuff .
good sense well time will tell as this new trend might slapp them right in the face..

If all I had to spend was $20 for christmas I'd be a happy person.

don,t worry mmo industry including blizz can fix that. Just add more items to the rmt store. Lets see 10 bucks for a pet,20 bucks for a dancing sword, 30 bucks for a barbie doll blow up ...poof xmas shopping done and did nt have to even go out to the toy store..

I think that you are also missing that they are giving 50% of the proceeds to the Make a Wish Foundation. They will need to sell a lot of them to recoup their investment of making them and selling them. Besides, it is just fluff. That is what cash shops SHOULD be. Just fluff. When they start selling things that give people an advantage, THEN I will be pissed. And it better be 75% or more of the proceeds going to a good cause. :P
poor blizzz right. If they were serious about starting a foundation try taking it from their own profits and not start and rmt store to make subscribers pay more then there monthly fee...
bobm111
First off, they did not start the foundation. They are donating to it, and it is a great foundation. Second, no one is MAKING you buy them. They are not required for anything, and they do not effect the game other than aestetics. Third, why SHOULD they take it from their own profits? They are a business. Businesses exist to make money. If they can help a good cause, make some more money, and raise awareness for the foundation all at the same time, without hurting WoW, then more power to them.
Dont want to spend the extra cash? Then dont.
Two front teeth are next in the item shop from bliz.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
well no one does not have to buy as you say. But the point is they are introducing another model into a p2p game and using a tear dripping history to get parents to pay more so there kiddies can have a pet.
And it is just business that is also a point. I remember the time that blizz represented "games for gamers"...
Now its all dollars but ill put my dollars in another game....
everybody has a choice as you say

Something tells me that the parents have no idea about this promotion. So, it will be the kids asking the parents to buy it for them, reguardless of the donation section, so the story doesn't matter. However, I think a good amount of people will buy pets to show off their support for the Make A Wish Foundation, like buying pink ribbons and bracelets to raise breast cancer awareness.
Besides, this is not exactly new ground. People pay way more than 10 dollars extra for a collectors editions to get pets. Or buy tickets to events, or magazines to get pets/items/other swag. This is nothing new. Bought the collectors edition of the original WoW? You got the option of pets from their various other games (mini diablo, zergling, and something else which escapes my mind), Burning Crusade gave some sort of drake, and I think that WOTLK also had a drake. They are just cosmetic. They don't help your character in any way.
Damn 10 bucks is a lot i hear.
I hope blizzard starts selling armor and weapons and mounts and everything, i will love that day and i hope all other MMO's follow, matter of fact i will be an advocate for this new awesome future of MMO's

This is just profiteering, Blizzard is doing nothing but whitewash what is in effect a move towards RMT. Make a Wish is a very worthy cause but from what i heard only half the profits of one pet being sold will be going their way. What are they doing with the rest of the money? Is this going to the "Lets help Bobby Kotick" foundation?
Just to make things clear...

I hope to god your being sarcastic.
Stupidity must span generations in your family.. It's the only explanation..
making money = greed, so i guess all these people that are mad work for free.
oh but they make enough money! so i guess people who do get paid never ask for a raise or want to make more money.
I can't wait for more RMT woot woot.

RMT wont really give you a chance to be competitive unless they allow you to pay GMs to play your char for you.

You guys can kick and scream and flame all you want. I was excited to get 2 more pets, even if it cost me $20. I was amazed to see how many people also bought at least 1 pet, most bought both if they bought any at all.
This is the finest example of vocal minority if I ever heard one.
I think it's a smart business move. For people who enjoy pets, like myself, it gives me more options for more pets. It's all supply and demand. There's a demand for more pets, and people who are willing to pay for it. So Blizzard created a supply, and the demand has been filled.
I'm still wondering why they are screaming at blizzard, the players keep saying they will pay for things, blame them.

WoW went F2P several years ago....
It is funny to see people not even knowing what has happened in the past few years.
