Will you come back to DAOC when the new casual server goes live?

This exciting new server will cater to both the casual player as well as address some of the concerns of players about bots and the time commitment necessary to complete ToA. We will be announcing full details about this server type in the coming weeks but I believe that this server will go a long way in making DAoC the leader of the pack in regards to the casual player. As part of this, we will also be looking at the impact of the death penalty and other aspects of the game on the casual player. Additionally, we will be looking at other server types that could come out of this rule set or even different rule sets. Players have continued to ask us to create different server types and we are going to put it to the community to get your feedback.
hehe actually it sounds kinda neat and I might come back and try it out when it goes live, anyone else thinking of coming back when this server goes live?

DAoC was a good game, always will be a good game from my experiences in my book. However, it's only got a few more months to go before it's perfectly good and gone. So, I'm not gonna come back and waste time. I'll just enjoy the experiences I had on it for the two years I played on it, and well, that's that.

they know about that problem and trying to fix it somehow but even i cant imagen what they can do.

I am not sure it is fair to say they are doing anything about buffbots. However the casual server is supposed to be buffbot free at this point. There are not expected changes for the regular servers.
Essentially here is the problem. Buffbots become popular when the active population declined and people did not want to play support classes (being yelled at a lot I am sure was part of the problem). Support classes can still have problems getting a group.
Given the problems of removing buff bots I believe they are first going to see if increasing the available number of players by clustering will address the problems. If not then maybe they will do something about it, but I doubt it.

If they can get rid of bots on the casual server and do the other stuff they mentioned then hello DAOC here I come again. I HATE bots with a passion, it is the #1 reason I quit DAOC. If Mythic can come through on this they'll be getting my money again.
Think you would have to pay me to play daoc again, this is the longest time i have been unsubbed now, my cm has enough to pay the rent for about 60 weeks, if i dont sub by then i never will.
Casual server dosn't sound any fun to me, I just hope they will do something about ToA soon, we'v lost alot of players due to that expansion.
PS. I have no problem with ToA but I know alot of others have and I feel they have a right to complain... ToA IS abit to hard, encountes should not be that hard and I feel sorry for ppl who aint got the time it takes to complete the MLs ect.
I might give the new casual server a try. If anyting so I can get to level 50 as soon as possible so I can take advantage of the /level command before its done away with.
TOA is what drove me from the game. I'm still really angry that I wasted my money buying it. I thought they were "fixing" it months ago though. It still hasn't been?
We still got hardass-mode on the EU-servers, that's all I know
I'm doing good anyhow, but I'm not L33t, I'm a community person, I don't have any templats and such....I have some MLs and Artis and I RvR when I feel it's time to wack some albs...when I die I don't QQ about it.
If there are no buffbots, yes. Otherwise, no.

I would definitely fire up my account again if they made a buffbot free no /level server for casual players.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
an active DAoCer sence releace, 3 accounts active, 3 sold, as far as buff bots, have seen no ill effect to me or my groups because of em i have none but know people that do, i see them as npc's that help out others i guess, and understand peeps that want 1 for solo leave me alone type playing i still run in groups that have real healer/shammy's in them, if theres a bot attached to 1 in the group well i guess that just saves conc for the real healer/sham to be able to have buffs for a change lol,if they were taken out of the game somehow, i wouldnt realy care, either way, i would love to try the new server if only for a change and to meet other players, the server i would love ( wont happen ) is a no /lvl, pre SI server, ie no SI/TOA/Catacombs//level/no alc/no scing, and old frontier, though i still play DAoC- along with a few other mmo's i realy had the most fun in a game on DAoC before all that was added -normal IMHO added here
TOA is getting progressivly easier - mainly due to a LOT of pressure from players and TLs. In the most recent patch notes to the test server (from today no less) they are talking about making the final steps of each ML grant credit even if you havn't completed the previous 9, which is a big step forward.
Recent'y they changed the way artifact scrolls drop to make them more common, they've made a great many ML and artifact encounters work better (not necessarily easier BUT made them less tedious and less prone to errors).
Previously they complete changed the way artifact XP was granted to make it easier to level up artifacts.
There are still some difficulties involved in ToA, but to be hnest, there should be. What is the point of giving everything away easy? You have to work hard to make you characters better.
TOA now compeared to TOA on release is a whole different kettle of fish! Thank goodness!
Regarding buffbots, there is an even greater problem beginning to rear its ugly head, namely TEAMs , for example Team Wizzy on Igraine and Team Animist on Galahad. This is ONE person controlling 6-7-8 characters! In the case of Team wizzy its 4-5 ice wizzies, cleric and minstrel. He camps bridges and you daren't let him get close coz you will die in seconds.
Team Animist is 5 Animists a Druid and a bard, and he can lay down 75 shrooms which if they get line-of-sight on you will vaporise you before you can even react! They also create thir own lag zone so if you get anywhere near you run the risk of lagging into them and being vapoirised. In a tower or keep seige there is almost nothing you can do to prevent TA making the tower/keep undefendable or unattackable.
I personally think this tactic is the epitome of lame!
