What size character do you like ot play in an MMORPG? Most MMORPGs have characters that range from very short, like dwarves, or some sort of little child like race you see in Anime games, to very big like a huge Troll or something.
Which one do you prefer?
I usually make the biggest character I can, and don't care much for playing small characters.

Would medium be considered the average height?
Small when I am playing a squishy character, support toon, or another high priority target.
Big if I am playing a melee character as I want to be targeted.

I like to play all different sizes to be honest. I don't just have on set size I always play.
In regards to the poll, what about those of us who like to constantly mix It up?

I like to play my toons small assuming I actually like the race they make to be that small. For instance I liked the Kobolds and Lurikeens in DAoC but I hated the Gnomes in wow.
The reason I pick small characters is because I like the feel of being the smallest one there but still packing a massive wallop.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Option 4 is other. It is the catch all for anyone that does not want to vote big, medium, or small.
If it is PvP, small characters. PvE, I slightly move the bar to the bigger side.

As a matter of personal preference i always choose the equivalent size of an average well proportioned human, even when it may be disadvantegeous for PvP. I'm all for diversity however.
Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.
Size doesn't matter to me, It's the race that counts.
I like to be big no matter what I play as. Caster, melee, etc. I don't care. I just like being a big hunk of meat raging around. But then, I have to like the race for it to work. So like some have said, race plays the biggest part. But in general, I like to play as a bigger fella.
Any true PvP'er will pick the smallest body they can. No matter what game you play, the smaller the body the harder to click on. On the bright side, someone who WANTS to become a target, like a tank that can take a ton of damage, will make their body as big as possible. I have seen this work in many games. People are stupid and target the huge low DPS tank, while the tiny DPS player owns them hardcore. Lurikeen's in DAoC were a great example on Mordred, I could hide inside the big tanks and live a long time as my enchanter.

Here's a man who doesn't understand the concept of "tab targetting".
But, as a general thing, I'll play a fairly large to medium sized race, depending on the looks of them. I can usually make almost anything work in play.

I choose option number 2. I always want to play the medium sized royal knight that is very handsome indeed. Hahaha!
For me it varies depending on the look of the char. I'm creating. But I don't have a set type so medium comes as close as it gets for me. It's all about the way I want to be seen in the game.

Here's a man who doesn't understand that smaller targets catch less attention than big targets. It is purely psychological. Small is not threatening. Same thing with colors - however colors and their effects on people are very much culturally influenced. For example the color red is aggressive color which demands attention. Especially on dark background.
Edit: It is an interesting subject but alas off topic.

At a distance you are a target to a normal person. Hopefully you play a squishy class so you die fast.

It depends on what class i decide to play and what I want to create at that particular moment. The creation for me is as important as the progression of that character later on.
So, option 4.
Normally when I chose a size, I always go for the medium size; like humans and elves. I'm short in real life, and for some reason, I find medium sized classes more asthetically pleasing. However, if size is adjustable for the medium sized races, I would tend to make my characters as small as possible.
However, I wouldn't mind trying a dwalf sized class one day. Especially when Guild Wars 2 comes out. I love the Asuran race... they're too cute for words!
Main characters:
Jinn Gone Quiet (Guild Wars)
Princess Pudding (Guild Wars)
I pick the size that's best suited to the character concept I have in mind at the time. Simple as that. I never pick a character's size based on how advantageous it might be.
I'm pretty short in real life with my 5'7", so I always like playing dwarfs because I can identify with them. Lorewise, they also tend to have a fascination for archaeology, and I study archaeology in real life. And they have by far the coolest accents. So, yeah, dwarfs.
As someone who is 5'1" IRL I actually prefer tall races. Figures! (iksar, galka...)
