Darkfall has twitch combat, only cities are relatively safe, and people use hacks.
Eve has no twitch combat but rather controls with the mouse similiarly to an RTS, 0.5-1.0 space is increasingly relatively safe and there is a good bit of this space, I haven't encountered any hacks.

DOMO! haha
Check out the MUD I'm making!
Ppl hack in df? How do you hack in an mmo?
Because they made the game client-side heavy instead of having stuff server side. From my understanding, you mod some of the files to let you move faster or be in places you shouldn't be, like under the ground, or in the air, or inside a mountain. And instead of having the server check to see if you are in a viable location it just lets you do what you want to do.

Dear OP,
EvE has a free trial here: secure.eve-online.com/ft/
So decide for yourself.
It's unfair to put DF against a game like Eve online.
Eve has had 6+ years of TLC by CCP.
It's the closest you will come to a freaking mmo masterpiece.
Maybe in a couple years DF will be half the game Eve is even though in it's current state DF is fun.
Right now DF is just a pvp game while Eve is a way of life for most of its fans. No contest.
Eve > All

Unfortunately, that is the case for a lot of sandbox MMO's. The tech savvy are always going to find ways to break the rules nomatter what game you play. I've played both EVE Online and Darkfall Online and I can honestly tell you, although the mechanical concepts are similar to each other, these two games can hardly be compared.
Darkfall requires a bit of experience with the MMO genre and is not very "newbie" friendly as some might call it. It caters to the hardcore gamers and Aventurine isn't afraid to admit it. Infact, it is exactly what I want from an MMO; A game with very few rules, big open environments, and full loot system, and PVP right from the start.
EVE Online on the other hand is a lot more newbie friendly and forgiving, but the pvp is slow and repetative. Players who have been playing longer will always have an advantage over you.
Truthfully, both games are pretty entertaining and I can't see how you could possibly choose from the two! .
Anyone that thinks that Darkfalls problem is hax is not playing. There is almost no hax in game. I played since beta (11 month now) and I have encountered 2 hackers.
Many people just can´t stand it when someone is better then them, and cry about hax instead.
Regarding the original question both games are lots of fun. In Darkfall you are more active, you aim yourself, while in Eve you give your orders and wait . It depends on what you like therefore. There is so many differences between these games, maybe you should ask yourself if you want a more futuristic or medieval stile setting?
Didn't they ban like 500 people for hacking?
And to the poster above, i think you have it the opposite way. Darkfall is alot more noob friendly in the sense on being familiar than EVE would be compared to other games. Also a noob has more of a chance beating a vet in EVE than he would in darkfall.
Even AV admitted hacking was an issue please have a clue before posting please. As to the OP EVE>all in almost every way. Go in with patience and open mind, dont be a jackass and join a corp that fits your desires and you will have a great time. DF is a large pvp battleground with little else that is interesting to do. Give DF a year and it will most likely be worth the 50 bucks and sub then.
I really don't feel you yourself are being open minded toward Darkfall and not being very fair to Morite. It does appear that you nolonger play the game so how can you be totally sure hacking is a problem still? Also, to compare EVE's supriority to Darkfall is inaccurate. EVE has been around much longer and has completely different features and art style.
To address the "hacking" in Darkfall, it is a very small problem compared to the number of macro users in the game. You simply cannot expect to get ahead without using Macros, so it is important to figure out where to find them right from the start. Macroing is allowed though, as long as you are not away from your keyboard.
Hacking in Darkfall is rarely seen, and is dealt with quickly. AV is constantly monitoring for hackers 24/7 and will sometimes have their GM's follow a player for several hours to be sure. Not to mention, the GM's know the best spots where hackers like to go. In fact, just about every hacker who is successfully reported is banned. Nobody gets away.

You also dont look open minded toward DF. You look more like fanatic. No one knows if they monitor 24/7, no one knows if they follow players for hours. From personal experience I would say AV is at best average in dealing with hackers. Best spots? With hack many spots become good, and some hacks dont have spots.
And about comparing Eve to DF is just stupid. Eve has been polished for years, DF was released too soon, and you could say game is out for few months... I get feeling that someone said this already
Eve is click/do game. DF is macro/FPS game.
I say Eve > DF
click and log for EVE...same crap as DF since both dont "need" you at keyboard to increase skills
yes I admit EVE is a better game from what I read
I also believe EVE is very boring from personal experiences ingame, while Darkfall is exciting, again from personal experiences ingame
So while EVE is a better game "now" I feel Darkfall is a more "fun" game "now"
take that as you will....try the EVE trial tho since its free

You are still comparing EVE to Darkfall with your final statement: "I say Eve > DF". Oh well though, I agree with a majority if your post . However, it is true, I am a 'fan' of Darkfall. I've been playing it for several months, and my experiences have allowed me to get to know a couple of the GM's who have made the claim themselves which I have stated above. Sure, they could be lying to scare their players into not hacking, but when you get to know someone long enough, they tend to share the truth.
Remember though, some of us aren't your average gamer . Some of us may have a little more insight than others, or may moderate forums and know the developers, or some of us are game design students . After a while, you tend to learn to talk the talk.
I was not Honest? What are you talkin about. You call me a lier because I didnt hallucinate more hackers??
I told you straight away that I met some hackers. 2 exactly, in 11 month of a lot of playing. Is it my fault there has not been more? Or are you maybe one of those that cry everytime they die: HAX??
I give you one advice for free, Darkfall is a very Harsh World. In Eve I always found places where I was save for the time, in Darkfall I died in every place already, I vent to toilet someone killed my Tigermount etc. This can happen all of the time and is part of the game. It is a harsh, cruel, brutal, world.
Some people shit talk you a lot, some call you a lyer, (Well you dont need to play to have this happen apparently).
Mostly tho its the thrill, the adrenaline. I got that in both games, Eve and Darkfall, but Darkfall has more of it.. Just the World is smaller maybe, at the end you meet more people.
I love both games, just Darkfall has more action and fun for me, while Eve is a very polished and very well done product as well.
So everyone that actually likes PvP games and is not looking for the futuristic approach (Eve) can look in Darkfall. It is the best MMORPG I know.
Maybe I should add to this that I am heavy FPS gamer, so the fighting aspect is for me the most interesting.
The Idea of an FPS where I keep and develop my Character and shoot and loot everyone, that was what got me into this game.
Currently there is a hack tool out that lets you teleport anywhere with coordinates, this still functions and has 0 backend logging. I.E. You can teleport as many times as you like, and anywhere, and you wont get caught unless someone reports you... which if you play safe will never happen.
Personally I hate cheats, but I have a friend from school who begged me to come back and play, and he uses the program daily to farm.
As between eve and darkfall... if you want a polished game with a badass dev company and plenty of good things coming, play eve.
If you want to gamble on a sandbox game with a smaller pop, who's dev team rarely interacts with players, and has potential, but needs lots and lots of polish try darkfall.
Truth is, eve is much easier to start as a new player and darkfall is harder initially and gets exponentially simpler as time goes on.
Just my 2 cents.
Eve combat doesn't make me feel very involving. Mostly orbiting something and shooting it. A lot of push the button and watch it happen content IMO.
Darkfall's combat just isn't fun at all. As someone already said, twitch combat. I had a horrible time fighting both mobs and people when I played.
If I had to suggest to you one or the other to play, I would definitely go with EVE. I've tried both, didn't like either, but EVE was definitely a better game at it's core (not just because of the sci-fi/fantasy difference.
