I really liked Fallen Earth, but the novelty soon wore off. The music was cool, the scavenging around was fun, but pretty soon it felt like most other MMOs to me personally. The levelling, the questing, the specified PVP zones. FE is more like an MMO, Darkfall is more like a persistent living world, it's constantly changing and not static. You could be living comfortably out of a city one minute, the log in a few days later to realise it's fallen to your worst enemy. Darkfall gets really personal, you're only allowed one character, so whatever you do you're adding to the rep of what people will think of you on the whole server, you really have the chance to make a name for yourself and be one of the Darkfall celebs, which most people know who are. If you want something a little more easy going, casual, then I'd go for Fallen Earth, which is a pretty good game, I still have a subscription active but I never play it. However if you want to play a game that you'll really get wrapped up in, and lose your soul to, then try Darkfall. It's the only game I've resubbed to since the good old days of SWG, just always so much political stuff going on.
I'm speaking as a newb to DFO and only a trial player of FE.
So far, DFO's has mostly been helpful and supportive. I've seen some asshats in chat, but there are asshats in any MMO. The EU->US transfers recently started, so things seem to be hopping. The upcoming expansion also seems to be attracting people, like myself. I've seen quite a few people in the starting town I'm in.
FE's playerbase was also very helpful. Tons of new players, new clans. The majority are still learning their way around the game.
Both games seem to have a dedicated playerbase. If you're interested in FE, give it a shot. It's a good game, but has a different feel than DFO. If you don't like it, jump back into DFO.
Current: None Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

Why did you leave in the first place?
