Looking for PvP

Ok so i have been reading and looking into a couple of the PvP games like DF and Aion. Trying to decide which is better, i want to be able to group up with ppl for some good PvP. Do either one require more game time to be good at it.

Im looking for a change i havent really done PvP since SWG was first launched, havent found anything out there and i hate to spend money on a game and it sucks done that to many times already. So anybody with some helpful info on the game, so i can see which is more suited for me.

     Depends if you are a carebear or not

    I know you asked specifically for DF or Aion, but in my opinion the best MMO PvP at the moment would have to be World of Warcraft or EvE.   Both of these games do pretty much require a heavy time investment to become competitive (though some would argue). Have you played Team Fortress 2 yet?

     The reason I asked was to know if you want meaningful PVP.

    Aion is a wishwash themepark pvp game - no one really cares one way or another if Elyos took over a keep from Asmodians or vice versa. But you can enjoy it easily and wont frustrate you, in and out in a jiffy.

    In Darkfall my experience was that everyone knew what everyone was doing, and cared a hell lot. If Hyperion invaded the city of Darkmoore owned by Blood everyone would know within hours and adjust raids and alliances, friends became enemies overnight in a struggle for power, backstabbing is commonplace, but true friends are the most important thing a clan will have.

    See where i'm going with this?

    Check out Mortal Online. It might be something for you. Here are some feats.

    * No instances

    * FPV only

    * You hit where you aim (hit boxes)

    * No minimap

    * Seamless world

    * Really dynamic crafting

    * Taim animals (horses and pets)

    * PvP with full loot

    * High large mountains you can climb if it's not to steep

    * Build your own house almost where ever you want (houses are not isntanced either soo you can see if a person is inside a house if the door is open)

    * etc ...

    It's beta right now and will be released around new year.

    The best thing to do is to check out trailers etc on youtube. But it's still beta so much of what you see will be imrpoved.

    Darkfall isn't a very good game though in general. I give you this much in aion no one really cares who has the keep when its taken they try to take it back but thats about it. If your into pvp with no death penalties then Warhammer is your best bet. Penalty wise i say go with Eve one death will set you back months. Hope that helps

    i am on trial right now with Warhammer but is there enough ppl playing for good pvp in it? just curious

    yes there are plenty. If people tell you otherwise on these forums its just because the game started off with 20 servers and now theres 7. The game is awesome but the endgame pvp really needs some work.

    World of Warcraft isn't a satisfying pvp game in the least; pvp was an afterthought.  WAR pvp ranks as one of the most redundent, same map over and over and over again games, so if you like sheer mind-numbing tedium, WAR is the one.  Darkfall is nothing more than a monster-guild zerg environment that leaves nothing to personalize yourself in-game.

    Aion is a great escape and has turned out to be a generally nice experience of mixed pve and pvp with risk, reward, purpose, large and small skirmish guild involvement, as well as solo-player involvement in both pve and pvp;probably one of the best mmo blends available today. But making a 'personal' mark within game for any of these games, such as a personal abode, brick-and-mortar shop, etc. is missing.

    My hope in this regard is Mortal Online.

     Aion pvp is terrible just an fyi, you can get pvp points from pve.. enough said? You lose points from dying in pvp (some people will argue that its "hardcore") the reality is that people won't engage in pvp, its just to easy to gain pvp points from pve, and its just to godamn easy to run away from pvp encounters in that game (in short it just ends up being carebear pvp like in lineage 2). I made it to level 40 in that game, and realized so many things. the game isn't meant for solo pvp as its way to easy to run away from a 1v1 encounter, people roam in groups zerging one or two people. Fortress sieges are completely useless unless you're attacking, and even then all you're really doing is attacking a pve mob to take control of the fort. I could go on and on...

    IMO if you didn't like WoW then i doubt you'd like anything in that genre. WoW was the most competitive and fair pvp game out there right now, no matter what all the haters say. But to be honest if you're looking for pvp mmo's aren't really the best for it. I'm playing call of duty modern warefare 2, the multiplayer is freaking awesome for pvp.

    I actually agree with you here. However, the PvP servers during launch and up to the birth of Battlegrounds was pretty satisfying and did actually have meaning. Though there were no specific objectives or rewards, players duked it out for zone control, or just for the fun of it. They made their own reasons and rewards.

    World of Warcraft still has a really huge potential for open-world PvP. Its one of the more free form open zoned games on the market in my opinion. The only drawback is that there might actually be too much content now for it to have any actual territorial meaning. Wintergrasp was so popular they had to make it an instance if that says anything; both about popular demand and the direction the devs are trying to funnel players.

    I know they have thier reasons for wanting players doing thier PvP in the instances, but there is a big demand for open-world PvP and the factions move pretty freely among each other, unlike WAR, (and Aion from what I've read) and has great potential in my opinion.
