Low system requirement MMO - I need one!

I am reduced to playing on a crappy laptop and In need of a MMO to waste some time on. I am willing to dish out some money for a MMO as long as it is playable on a 4 year old laptop. I just want a quality game with a decent population.

Was wondering if Ashaerons calls was still worth playing? Dark age of camalot?

I have a job but I don't exactly have a lot of money to waste right now : [. So I thought I could waste a couple months playing a older MMO while saving for a new desktop....

Pick any of the hundred asian mmo's off the game list. They can all be played on calculators.

  • DuilyonDuilyon Member Posts: 326

I don't wanna play one of those shitty Asian MMOs. I just wanted someone to reccomend an old MMO. Didn't wanna just go out and buy a random one and end up hating it......

I'm surprised no one has mentioned WoW yet. Only real problems you might have would be Dalaran and Wintergrasp.

If you want a decent and fun mmo you won'T have other choice to put some money on a new computer. Laptop may not be the best choice for gaming either. Computer gaming is a permanent wave of amelioration , follow the wave or stay behind :)

    EQ

    UO

    http://www.elderlands.com/

    Ashen Empires

    Hostile Space

    Monster & Me

Trying to think of some more, but it's hard with such an old bad computer. Those are my past favs that may be still around.

I would probably suggest Elderlands. 100% playable on that machine. I haven't actually played it, but the devs are great. They made Dransik (Ashen Empires now... not the same game) and are part of the Orig UO Dev team.

Even wow plays like crap on low end comps you average around 4-10 fps in raids and pvp with the bottom of the line cards.

Runes of Magic is pretty forgiving on systems. It's a F2P game though. Not sure how you may, or may not feel about those types.

MMOs are, by and large, extremely low-end games, for better or worse. Precious few MMO developers give a damn about being more advanced than a circa 2001 single-player game. Just how crappy are we talking, here?

that kind of surprises me, there are always the jokes that WoW could be played on a toaster or whatever

When WoW came out I already had a 3 year old computer at that point, it ran fine to me. Maybe it hasn't aged well.

Yeah, it's had updates and Dal was pathetic. I have a pretty nice computer and Dal choked for me. Dal is nothing but round objects, lots of people with lots of flashy ugly gear. It was on high settings, but still....... it was the best you could build December last year which is still almost top of the line today not a whole lot has changed hardware wise in the last year. Upgrading to a SSD soon tho! :-D

But yeah, even in raids her's is pretty bad. Idk what they did, the graphics update didn't really do a whole lot.

eh, I suppose I'll just get Asherons Call. Always been a fan of Turbine it'll be cool to see where they started. Hopefully its still a fun game. heh.
