Fortress sieges are CRASH fest

mate0377mate0377 Member UncommonPosts: 55

When I started this game I tought what a nice game runing smoothly on maxed details. When I reached lvl 31 I tought hey I will try to attend on a siege fortress I was looking forward to this feature of game as I allways liked mass PVP encounters.

And here it started. After like 10min after mass off people gathered ready to start the attack, game crashes. So I loged back and after like 10min crash... again and again... During 1h game  crashed like 12 times so Its absolutely not possible to do any mass encounters. I've read on forums that this is the global problem and almost every player experience it.

I dont have any crashes when not attending mass encounters. But this game IS ABOUT MASS ENCOUNTERS. When I cant participate on mass encounters this game looses sense to play it

I just wonder how could NCSOFT release the game with such a serious bug

So if you plan to play this game and experience the mas PVP sieges the only thing you will experience is NONSTOP CRASH FEST

I've allready canceled my subscription

I have been in multiple sieges with little lag and no crashing this is your computer messing up lower the settings or upgrade your comp. Sorry to say but it isn't an internal problem with the servers.

Before you give the old  "get a new system crap" try reading Aionsource dev tracker or any one of the 6 trillion posts of people crashing in sieges with crap like 5800 series cards and i7's. It has nothing to do with the personal system of the user, its a memory leak issue  where when it goes over 2 gb limit, you will experienve a crysystem.dll crash. It appeaered in the 1.5 update right before launch, and has yet to be fixed.

It happens to tons of people regardless of how good or bad their system is.

Lets put it this way, my entire guild quit over this matter.

We had a fortress, and one night it went up for battle and we lost it because half of our guild kept crashing, including myself. I have a fairly top end PC. I'm happy with it and can play anything on max, including Aion. But during seiges I would turn down my graphics to the bare minimum and STILL would crash.

The problem is, the game is designed to allow for more RAM (a friend of mine looked into this) but its currently set at only using a very small amount which is why people who actually have more then 2gb of RAM crash more, according to him. If they updated their files to using 4gb or so, then they wouldn't have these massive crash fests. It all has to do with the software of the game. NCSoft really needs to look into adjusting this so people can play these seiges as they were intended.

Until thats fixed, my sub will remain canceled. What is the point of leveling if I crash during one of the most crucial parts of the game?

hehe...I was also gonna state this, but you beat me to it.  =(    It isn't the players machines at fault here (well, maybe sometimes).  It occurs too often for it to be the players fault.  Also, you may want to read Paragus' Rant here on MMORPG.  He also complains about the many crashes in siege battles.

Anyone who says, "get a new machine" in this case of Aion are fanbois. The same crashes kept happening to me in large Fortress battles and I have just about the best CPU and the best GPUs/SLI 2x295GTX out atm.

So basically I think all the people who say they haven't crashed at some point in a large siege battle in Aion is either a fanboi, a lier, or both.

As I said in my post the game runs perfectly smoothly on maxed details (including 8x antialiasing) I have pretty high end PC. So why should I lower details ??

Xerith is totally on the mark when he says its a memory leak in 64-bit systems. The majority of the people complaining have reported being on a 64-bit system, occasionally a 32-bit will complain, but not often.

The thing is, game companies need to start realizing that gamers will generally have 4GB+ of RAM (I myself have 8GB) and need to start catering their games to these 64-bit OS's. I wish MMORPG.com would do a poll about what OS people are using. I'm more then certain the majority of us, as gamers, are using a 64-bit system.

There will be the occasional person trying to play a game on a 32-bit laptop and wondering why they're having crashing & FPS problems, but over the years it has come to my attention that people who really are "gamers" understand their PC's a lot and know what they should be using to get the desired outcome of a game.

Please don't call me a liar when i have not. Hate on the game I really have no real attachment to it. But attacking people is where trolling steps in. And I for one want to keep that to a minimum.

i have never crashed in aion just alot of lag though i have not participated in a siege. i do beileve that the mass amount of ppl would cause crashing. just stepping out into the abyss and getting out near one of the fortresses even when it wasnt under siege was enough to cause my comp to sputter and stall. im on a lower end comp so alot of that was me but when i can barely move and im like the cat in the middle of a dog fight it definelty made it to where i didnt even want to bother. cuz i know i woulda crashed had i participated. this is clearly a issue ncsoft needs to address amongst others .

also i wanted to add that paraguses rant is very straight forward and on the money for the most part and i must say if you want anything that gives an accurate description of aion that would be the article

The crashing makes the fortress fights unplayable to a large portion of the population.  If you can't participate or keep crashing, then you can't get medals, which means never being able to pursue the end game gear, which means little reason to keep playing.

It's amazing after all those beta weekends they didn't find this out before launch.   Maybe they should have given people Abyss level characters in beta to properly test the abyss performance at sieges instead of making people grind in beta before they could test, they might have found this out sooner.   That being said, this should have been or needs to be hot fixed immediately.  The fact that this is still happening for almost 2 months will cause the game great damage.

Fortress siges are taxing on any machine. There is an option in graphics which reads as follows: "Fixed FPS". Basicly what it does is it manages your graphic settings automaticly to enable a steady fps. I would recommend that feature to anyone having issues with fortress sieges.

This is also on the list of known issues which means they're working on fixing that.

The game allways crashes when the process aion.bin reaches like 1,7GB of RAM. So I tought when I am using 4GB RAM I will remove 2GB (what a desperate fix ) and the aion.bin shouldnt reach 1,7GB of RAM so it might not crash

Anyone tried this if it works ?
