Oh, I've seen that type of posts already. No one here is from Blizz marketing dept. so don't expect someone to write an essay why you should buy WoW. Don't be lazy or just buy the game and you will know better then.
well, i will actually try to be helpful.
I've been playing WoW for a little while, so i have no direct experience whatsoever of the high level content as my highest level character is a Dwarven Hunter of 18th level.
So far the game is simply stunning, here is why:
- the mesh of Graphics and orchestral music really gives your gaming experience that extra gear, all the places are nice and interesting to visit and all regions will have numerous things to go, explore and get quests from.
- The quests: while if you boil them down to the basic, they are the usual and there is no escaping from that, they managed to add new life to them by both adding interestign stories behind them and adding some nifty details like escorting NPCs and getting ambushed, seeing first person the effect of the plague you just helped to create, cleansing corrupted water wells or many others.
- it is easy to get in, but the sheer quantity of special skills/spells you have reveal a quite complex game. The talents adds diversity and give you even more special abilities in some cases. Figures that my hunter,at mere 18th level, has more than 2 bars full of special abilities and recently i had to divide Melee and Ranged abilities in two separated bar as they were not fitting anymore.
- Crafting/harvesting is easy like a walk in the park and gives you tangible rewards. Already at low level you can do useful items for you or others, things like ammo and guns if you an engineer, green armor/weapon items if you a blacksmith or a tailor, healing and mana potions if you an alchemist and so on. In addition cooking, fishing and first aid, that everybody can train in, adds to the things you can do.
- Each class, more or less, are viable to solo for a really good while. If you do not want to group, you do not have to but for some Elite quests that are really hard to solo eh If you want to group, you get a grouping XP bonus dependant on how many people are in the group
- Races are different. Not only in the special abilities they get, but especially, in how different their flavor is done. Their starting areas are radically different from each other and also the quests you do originally will tell you clearly you are in the lands of the Undead, not the Humans or so on. To give you an example, Dwarves' quests all deal with what Dwarfes loves to do: Beer, Bears and mining. Undead quests are all about surviving the Scourge AND the human remans, plus making plagues along the way , Tauren are very indian-like and their first quests involve Rituals to complete to become adult, including vision quests and cleansing of nearby wells from the evil nature-ruining Venture Co. etc etc.
- each class is also a world into itself. They have many specials and skills as said, it seems like they examined all the classes present in other games and decided to melt them together and take 9 out of them. Each class also has some touch to it that makes it different from all others, even down to what bars they have. Warriors have rage and 3 combat stances, each with different abilities and bonuses, Rogues have energy and a combo system reminiscent of the Assassin from Diablo II: LoD, Hunters have pets that you need to keep happy and research new skills to train them into, plus traps and guns, Priests can heal (no shit) but can also mind control and much more, Warlocks has demons at its service, Mages can blast but also teleport, polymorph others in sheeps, conjure food and so on, Druids can shapeshift in 4 different forms, 2 of which have their own special abilities, Paladins has seals and auras and shamans has totems and special elemental attacks.
- the amount of polish this game has is incredible. Blizzard added their special humor AND a lot of classy details in this game. little things like the different jokes and flirt phrases your character can say, or when you get a new quest, it get written in front of your eyes, including sound of writing pen, or how the music changes so smoothly from location to another to match that location atmosphere, like in Goldshire, human lands, you go to the inn and there is this happy classical inn music, you go to the cellar where the demon trainer is and this dark, foreboding music kicks in.
- Cannot say much about the PvP as it stands now, but the two battleground previews are excellent. Of course who knows when they will be really implemented and if it will be like said.
- the Auction Houses are great for trading with other players and beat by a kilometer having to yell in trade channel all the time.
I hope this is helpful. have a nice day

You guys are a bunch of immature idiots for making replies to him liek that...Well whatever. I don't even play this game. I play EQ2...
((They are about to attack me, now is your chance to run!!!!))
Nicely done Volkmar. You really summed up the experience very well. To agree with him, I can't possibly explain just how different every single class feels. Each one is familiar, but very unique and fun to play...except maybe Druids unfortunately...haven't had much fun with mine which sucks cause I always play a Druid. Anyway, theres actually only 6 starting locations. The Dwarves and Gnomes share and the Orcs and Trolls share, so their are only 6 early game story-lines, though those change depending on your class slightly. Fun the first couple times. Gets tedious the third time. THAT is my only big complaint. Everything else is just small nit-picky things like not being able to harvest cloth any other way but killing humanoids.
well of course, with any heavy quest based game, if you do them 4 times it start to get repetitive eh!
But there are many regions that you can explore so once you are in your mid 20s, you can choose to go to X instead of Y so expanding the replayability.
Of course Kane is right, Ork/trolls and Dwarf/gnomes shares the same area, but i had the impression there were some differences. For example Orks get sent directly to razor hill after the "newbie" zone while Trolls go to the troll village, or i am wrong?
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
Holy crap. I decided to pop by here and see what was happening... this is sad. The guys asks a legitimate question regarding the game and you flame him, calling him immature and that his post is useless? You guys are friggin' ignorant. Time for flames!
I noticed you play alot of CoH by your xfire profile tag. Please look at my xfire profile tag, realize that we both enjoy CoH, and then realize that I love WoW and you will too. (By the transitive property)
ps. it's not like you really have the option of buying the game now anyway unless you can find a store that still has a copy...

I think the guys here have not been very kind, but there is a reason for that. Every last few thread were started by WoW decriers just too happy to start some flame. And even when we reply with good information, some jerk just walk by and trash our effort. See an example here:
