I normally don't make these type of threads.
As far as a player base is concerned, who cares if person "X" or "Y"comes back to Vanguard, but i wanted to mention it for a specific reason, rather than just to announce.
I've been playing a LOT of games.. and non of them give me the freedom and fun I found in Vanguard.
Now, the catch is, I havn't played since 3-4 months after launch! So I have no idea what to expect.
I was originally on the Florendyl server (Which I believe is now the Seradon server).
My main purpose of playing is to explore, see the world, and eventually do end-game with a guild.
I was wondering. Should I continue with my level 18 Ranger? Or perhaps make a brand new account to experience the Isle of Dawn? And, any tips for a "new" player?

Actually I would create a new character on the Isle of Dawn to get the feel of the game again. Then go back and play your ranger for a bit. I'm a ranger player myself though and its my favorite class. There have been alot of changes to begining quests and quest hubs so it might be fun to do both.
Ok .
I don't want to miss ANYTHING. I loved the whole orientel theme of the orientel island.
But I loved the greenary and scenary of Thestra.. It is what I envisioned my perfect mmo to look like. Khal was fantastic too.
I don't want to miss out on any of it .
Any suggestions as to what race to start with? I imagine a Thestra-based race is the best.

Hi DuClaire,
Glad to see more players coming back, i've recently done the same and i am having the best mmo time i've ever had since EQ1.
I advise you to start again. Fall in love with your new character. I also suggest starting at the Isle of Dawn for the simple fact its very busy (10-30) people on Halgar on in the evening. This allows you to group up towards the end where you may need a friend to help you finish the last few quests.
However, if your very much into the lore of your character, i suggest starting in your original city. It will likely be empty with almost everyone else on the isle, but once your 10, you will start to see the odd person running around.
I am currently leveling my level 12 Dwarf Cleric around Veskal's Exchange and as soon as i arrived i was teamed up with a Dark Elf Blood Mage kicking butt in Jades Depths (Spider Cave).
The population isn't a big problem anymore, groups are running in the "dungeons" often at prime time. Community is the best there is.
My only tip to you would be to not play this game to level, but more to get involved in the story of Telon and get that feeling that retreiving the stolen goods from the bandits is actually helping the poor women in the town rather than thinking that will add 10% to my xp bar. If you get too into the xp this and xp that, you will most likely quit due to the leveling not being as fast as in other games.
Have fun and happy hunting!
I'm of the same mind as the poster above. While I'm not into "RP" or character development, I do like quests and stories and looking around to find them. I am working on the whole continent of Kojan right now and it was fun to go around to where certain races starting areas are. You can even pick up some cool things going back to those, especially if you did your training on Isle of Dawn. I went to the wood elf starting area and got a red diplomacy card from the instructor there. You also get to see some of the mini dungeons you would have started on and can do some scouting for any characters of that race you plan on making. It;s also fun to run into random NPC's or enclaves scattered about the world for no other reason to say "hey I found this". If you truly want that experience, might be best to start over. Already at around the same level as your ranger has, I have got close to 3 1/2 weeks of fun out of my warrior just exploring and doing the different quests. I don;t remeber when I have ever played a game where I could play a good solid 8 + hour day, not kill a single monster, and still have alot of fun. I guess that's a testament to how deep Vanguard is.
Hope you have a great time coming back and get to your goal of doing end-game content.
