All right to the point, WTH happened here ?

Last few weeks all topics I see here are like: "Bought it... against all odds!", "One step before purchasing", "So...I did it", "Thinking of purchasing, but have a question", "Returned: My first week" etc. So much positive and often constructive information ( look at topics about incoming expansion etc. ) that it feels almost unreal. Similar topics dominate last 3-4 pages on this forum.

Where are the forum trolls ? I know that some of them actually have started to play DF by themselves but I am sure some of flamers are still here.

Has the game "improved" so much, that people sudenly see it as a good game ? Or maybe people start to see it as an alternative to standard MMO templete ?

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.

I can't answer for the other new players, but I've been following DF for a while without actually buying the game. I'm so bored with just about everything else out there atm, that I decided to give DF a try. It has always looked interesting and fun to me, and now that I've been wanting an MMO with more "bite" I finally decided to spring for it.

Plus all the expansion notes looks awesome, which will make the game that much more fun hopefully.

They switched to bashing Aion, and from there Fallen Earth.

It's cool to see DF getting established.  I followed a bunch of the guild videos when it released.  The GvG battles look like a lot of fun.  If ever I get some free time (a free trial would be nice too) I have to come check it out.

Well I suppose I'm an ex flamer, branded a vapourware troll no doubt. I really thought this was vapourware and the community (not AV) had over hyped this game so much that even when it was released DFO, AV and Tasos took a hell of alot of flak. After release I ignored it somewhat and wrote it off as a certain failure. Come November DFO is still around against the odds in my opinion and AV have actually got their shit together, there's nothing else to try so I give it a whirl.

DFO had alot of bad word of mouth after release, and it kept many away. However under close scrutiny I couldn't find any solid reasons myself as to why the game is total shit, so decided to give it a try. So far I'm enjoying my experience, maybe it's the lack of anything new coming out (now that Aion has been released) that has caused people to take a hard look at DFO?

I think they all went back to WOW, or like me, realised they have been wrong about Darkfall all along and fell in love with it.

  • StrixMaximaStrixMaxima Member UncommonPosts: 865

Why would anyone bash a new p-layer describing their experience? I have problems with the game, others might not, and I must respect that.

I find just the titles a little odd , I must admit. 90% of them are apologetic or defensive, which is weird, since your personal game experience is what should really matter to you, in the end. Consensus is usually a sign that things are wrong.

I guess that's because there's no Good New MMO right now... FE is pretty niche... hope they can do something about the AI. AIon is very boring. All my friends quited. Darkfall is the only one that seems to be interesting enough to jump in.

If you read the patch notes/expansion notes between launch and now, you'll see that many aspects of the game have improved dramatically and that also seems to be the case with the impending second expansion.  As such, a new player's first impressions today may be wildly different than they would have been at launch.   It's a  much time to take a first look at Darkfall, or a second look for those who were disenchanted from their first experience.

the features and gameplay darkfall offers seem godly when compared to other MMO's as of this time.

I'm currently not playing any MMO's, but if given the time to, I'd try darkfall first of all.

Considering all the other crap Ive played the last few years, cant do any harm to try DFO. The 9.5 gig download and subsequent patches are of concern though considering I live in Australia, and have a 25gig monthly limit to stick to.

Perhaps the only reason is that the 'forum trolls' stopped paying any real interest in the game. After a year or so, I'd get bored of mindlessly bashing a game as well. I don't agree with all those mindless complaints, but I wouldn't buy DF either, simply because I don't think that a company with such a brackish CM and that manages to screw up so many essentials should live to see another day. Perhaps, with all the lack of the trolls bashing away, people also don't really remember all the other negatives of Darkfall.

Its an ISP thing. Aussies have been copping it up the arse over DL limits forever. There are so called "unlimited" plans available but these simply cut your rate back to 64kbps once you hit your cap.

Dont get me wrong, some plans are better than others (40, 50, 60gig etc) but the more you want, the more you pay. And to top things off, I live in Perth, so choice is limited.

Really? I never trolled or hated this game, I really wanted it to be good, but I held my breath and avoided too much anticipation. But is it like really worth trying? Or am I going to regret buying it in these fragile economic times? I am an eve player about to take a break if that means I will enjoy it more or less?

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

think alot of them play it. I used to say it was vapourware too :P

I still like to think i'm subjective though. darkfall is an unfinished game really, but theres nothing else remotely like it and its incredibly fun.

Yeap, I agree. BTW show me a finsihed MMO. A finished MMO = cancelled MMO.
