Telling someone how bad SWG was or AO or some other game, doesn't make a bad experience with WOW any better.
Let me use an example: Your Chevy has been giving you trouble for years. I buy a new Ford and I start having trouble with it. Knowing your troubles isn't going to make my trouble with my car any better. I will be able to empathize...but that's about it.

You are just forgetting one crucial thing; the difference in problem depth.
In AO early days, within 5-15 minutes all the time every day, you would run into a "circle of death" where your char lags out and runs in circles. You would always see other people walking this circle of death, knowing they were screwed. People would get stocked so bad in buildings, not even the GM's could find a way out. And what about NPC's shooting through walls? Cities would be so laggy, you would wonder if it realy should be this way, or if it realy was laggy.
There is a big difference between a car that suddently explodes and leaves you with burnmarks, and a car that runs out of gasoline. Blizzard has a huge gas station.. erm ah well.. you get my point
