Quests I can do without

KulthosKulthos Member Posts: 89

OK, I refuse to play games that are jamed with "Kill 10 <insert random monster here>" quests.

I want quests like "Rescue my daughter from the pirate king" and "The dread beast stalking the land must be killed!" You know, fantasy hero stuff, not random monster population control quests.

I think I officially "Lost it" with EQ2 when I had to kill a bunch of red tailed hawks, as they were allegedly overpopulating. You know what, these dumb things were pretty hard to find and I had to wait for them to repop several times for being so "overpopulated" that some druid decided they had to be culled.

Neverwinter nights had a good quest system, one that the MMPORGs need to learn from.

Well, they do have a lot of quets and add new ones all the time. They have a few like that but not enough to make the quest system bad. I like many of the quests.

I think the number of quests in EQII is good.  The only quest I thought was ridiculous was the citizenship quest.

OK, I just spent 6 levels on the Isle of Refuge.  I understand how quests work and how combat functions, so now before I can even enter the city I have to go to Oakmyst forest and kill a bunch of mobs in order for a few tokens to drop.  THEN I have to go fight some people in the back room.  Only THEN can I enter the city.  It's like they're forcing you to "get familiar with your surroundings" or whatever.  Let the player make his own decision as to whether or not he wants to spend time roaming Graystone Yard or Beggar's Court.

There's too much of this, "you have to do x y & z before we'll even allow you to enter this location," in EQII for my taste.  Otherwise, I think the quests are good and they work well within the game lore.

Most the newbie quests are pretty lame, they get better later on though
