The other day we went so called "furback huntin" with my guild - all of us in the range of 26-29 - killed a bunch of asmos, got a major force coming back and wiping us, we hunted them, they hunted us ... hid our kisk on a high ledge above - and as we glided down back to trouble one of my guildmates blurted it out : "man I love this game" ... to which I could only add - "me too buddy"
you see Aion is a game of many facets - most people approach it as a race to the max level. But guess what max level is not the goal, just play the game, enjoy the ride.
This game has so many minigames in it - is it maximizing the flight time to gather aether - risking one more high extract? Crafting and proccing a high level blue? Running the instances that are actually challenging and a bad pull can an will wipe you?
Running out of money? Actually I enjoy that immensely - and I ran out of coin a few times - only to make it back with a proc on blue armor. finally a game when money actually matters- you have to make smart decisions - and when you do you are way ahead of those who make bad ones.
The vibrant economy, fights, gathering, crafting, enchanting, socketing, dyeing (coloring) your armorsets, campain quests, cutscenes, spectacular mob models, gliding, flying, tricks with dropping to the ground and breaking your fall at the last moment - (you can escape almost anyone that way), collecting faction specific resources on the opposing faction's land (make a fortune ), rifting, sieges, taking artifacts - boy this game has it all - 500 recipes for every craft, each node dropping two kinds of resources, customizing you build with stigmas
such an amazing game

You are going to be flamed like nothing else (just as an FYI) but I totally agree with you...
There are some things they need to fix up - but overall - Im also just absolutely loving this game. Everyone in my guild is hooked and we play/travel together and that makes everything with this game.
I firmly believe those who "hate" the game are either a) Trolls or b) Legitamately don't like it but possibly never really experienced the full affect? What I mean by that is - if you try to solo grind your way to 50 - you really will not like Aion. However, if you group up, run instances, craft, gather, do rift PVP, capture artifacts in the abyss, etc, etc... you will have a completely different experience.
I am waiting for this moment to hit me. I'm playing Aion quite casually atm, my cleric is almost 24, and as much fun you are having, that feeling just hasn't hit me yet. And I totally understand that the end game is gonna be a lot of fun and the abyss can really turn into a shitshow, but I feel that in the lower levels we have really been jipped on content. I want more diverse vibrant zones, different storylines to follow, and yes, instances before level 25 (which shouldn't be on cooldowns). Themepark I have no problems with, but the extreme linearity to the quest chains is starting to bug me.

Totally agree - they really should implement more dungeons - ESPECIALLY from 20-25... that's a gap that really does need some additional content.
Still - if you enjoy the game - keep plugging away at it. It wont DRASTICALLY change but the PVP is really enjoyable - both via rifting and through the abyss.. hopefully you end up enjoying it (and if not - for Christ sakes dont start a "I quit" thread) Hopefully humor isn't lost on you... hehehe
Hahaha that story reminds me of how I felt with FFXI the first time around back in 2003. Was a strange new world full of wonder and possibilities.
It's good to see people still get that feeling from time to time. I seem to have lost the ability to do so. Hopefully FFXIV will bring a some what similar moment, but being so busy with life, college, and work chances are ill never really have the oportunity to enjoy a game quite like I did in Highschool ever again. Playing a game for 3 days in a row with minimal interruptions only happens once a year if that now.

Lol, but what if I'm REALLY passionate about quitting?

So far I am really enjoying it as well. The sense of danger and the importance of avoiding death reminds me of my early days in EQ where the world was dangerous. I have only gotten a taste of pvp so far - elyos hunting with my guild in the abyss - but it really makes me want to level up a bit to be more effective in pvp.
You will get flamed by the trolls that frequent these forums. Before you do let me just say Aion was made for the MMO purist and
I AGREE AION IS AMAZING )))))
GW2 the future of MMO gaming
Its a very good game, I have been spending time trying making money on the Broker, doing quests, and pvp. My wife and I are only 25 with no desire or real need to cap for the first time in many years of playing. This game is fun at every level, no rush required to max level just enjoy the aspects of the game.
Thanks NC Soft for making a keeper
get to 30+ or 40+. that's where the game really lacks content.
and gets borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring.
KERPLAH!
I'm not 40+ yet but the game is fun. Granted there isn't really anything new to MMOs here but it's a fun game.
So much fun chasing gankers in a huge group.

It is an awesome game.
The grind kills me though,
Preordered it at the time and everything and have a 27 warrior... but god, he sucks so bad at pvp solo.
Re-rolled a sorc who is at 15 but once again bored of grinding. Since it will be my 3rd time doing it.
Ive only come to play it with my friend when we play our lvl 22 Sorc and ranger duo together. (ranger being my other char.)
Bored on aionsource so throwing out the same bullshit here I see?
I think the game is good ,but has a way to go with content and grind.I got my ranger up to 35 and hit the wall of Xp i had to get ,kinda sucks when next thing you know you got to get 56 mil xp.If they add more PvP/PvE contect and lessen the grind i'll flap my wings once again.
its actually funny how much of a trend you see people under 30 loving this game, and then people who are close to 40 or 40+ who absolutely can't stand it anymore. i quit at 39 and i doubt i'll ever go back, the game lacks serious content and you get a very good idea of what 50 will be like.
I'm sorry but anyone under 30 can't really say anything about this game, i'm pretty sure thats why NCsoft made a limit of level 30 in the betas because they new the game was actually decent 1-30.
I love this game, but you really need to group and really need to spend time to do all the quests (also the gatherquests) to not run out of quests.
That too. I have to say that when I think about the first couple months in EQ, Asherons Call, WoW, AoC, PotBS, etc., the breadth and depth of game-play that you can engage in versus the previous titles is excellent. Eventually I'll move on to something else, but this game is so rich in features, story and game-play that most will enjoy the entertainment.
thank you for this post. gotta agree with you in every point
Thanks for this post!!
I felt the exact same way as the op. But after hitting 37+ish everything will change in major ways. Quests become close to useless, the only ones you'll want to do is campaign, since they have decent exp rewards. The best experience gain you'll see will be teamfarming Kaidan HQ or Lepharist Citadel, this from 36 to 42, only to at 43 move on to similar areas. And I wouldn't even have a problem with that if the PvP was balanced and fair, but there are so many things about the pvp that isn't. Firstly the class balance sucks, but that's not too bad, since it is a newly released game. The absolute worst thing about Aion PvP are the Fort fights, they lack any need of skill or even teamwork, they are just laggy zergfests, they often crash (even while playing on lowest) leaving you without reward etc. At this point a fortfight will be more PvE than it is PvP. They released Aion too early.
Just to reiterate what someone else posted, "You're going to get flamed." I completely agree with you in all respects.
I have a lvl 37 Templar and a 28 Ranger. I am a father and husband with a career. I have NO intention to race to 50 because i'll get burned out and I dont' have the time. I also realize that this isn't WoW where end-game is the start of the game.
Depending on how much time I have, on any given day, I either quest, abyss pvp, gather for my armorsmithing, grind for DP to morph into items that sell well in the AH, spend 2-3 days just gathering to make try to proc a few pieces of my next level armor set, do fire temple, do MM, do Lephartists Citadel, join a random fortress raid, join a random Rift raid, etc.
I am enjoying the ride. I am smelling the roses. I am looking forward to the journey and not the destination. Insert what ever cliche you want here.
As an example, last week when I was lvl 35, I had 5 Spy quests I had yet to complete. I stocked up on 200 potions, speed scrolls, 2 Group kisks, etc. I found a rift that was capped at lvl 35. Four hours later and two well hidden kisks later, I soloed the 5 Spy quests. I died at least 15 times based on being zerged, but I also killed many Elyos along the way. I ran when the numbers were against me and I hunted when I knew it was me against 3-4 lower lvl players. One of the most memerable moments I had playing an MMO in the last few years.
Yesterday, a group of 12 of us decided to take Artifacts for the first time. 2 hours later and 4 artifacts captured, we had ~1200 Abyss points in our pockets and plenty of good times to be had.
I am loving my time in Aion only because I realize there is no finish line like others have created for themselves. I came in with no expectations and fell in love with the game.
PS - I have yet to do a single grind in this game. From lvl 30+ my quest log has been 25+ active quests. I've only done fire temple 10 times, which is less than the grind in WoW. However, I do gather a lot and I craft a lot. Last night, I went from 322 - 399 in armorsmithing which gave me 3.5 million XP.
Early on I also crafted, which I believe accounts for 2-4 of my 37 lvls.
If you utilize all parts of the game, you will not have to grind. If you only focus on one aspect of the game, you'll have to grind to compensate for it.
i liked the game too only problem... iam too old to grind this many hours...
Anyways, Aion isn't really something I would play casually, as it's obviously intended for people who have time to waste, alot of time to waste.

Yesterday was Sunday, and a week ago, when I did my EPIC (lol) Spy quests, it was a Saturday. I only play 2-4 hours on weekends. The majority of my time is devoted to my family, as it should be.
I am having fun. No amount of negative posts on this website will change it. Though, the negative has infected the game with people who post "LF1Healer for MM Grind."
There's more "grinding" in WoW but people don't refer to it as such. The naysayers are definitely winning, at least the perception war.
Such a great post - Im half surprised to see something so good posted here
Im in the exact same boat - I do so much in Aion and not the "mad rush to 50". People hate Aion because they CANT mad rush to 50 - that's really what it boils down to....
Dont think every one wanted to rush to 50, people just wanted content. Fact is at a certain point the quests you have will not level you up. In other words you can do all the quests you have and you will not level, so you will grind to level....
Love it how people come and try and spin it up. Fact is the content is lacking what ever way you spin it.
