MVP = PvP? How does this work in this game?

How does Monster Vs Player work in this game?

is seems like PvE, but Iam guessing more to it then just that. Is it like a dungon master in DnD, where player control the npc toons, to fight other players?

What?

    What?

PvMP (Player vs. Monster Player) is indeed LOTRO's version of PvP not PvE. Every player in the game has a regular character that is a member of one of the four races of the Free Peoples of Middle Earth (Freeps).

After you get at least one Freep character to lvl 10 you may, from the character selection screen, create a number of "Monster" race/class type characters that serve Sauron the Dark Lord of Mordor (Creeps).

Now these Creep characters are all insta max lvl, but by and large are weaker than a Freep character of the same lvl, especially in a 1v1 match-up. However, there are skills and traits and skins and various other customizations that a player can build up by defeating Freep characters in battle and earning Infamy points which increase the "Rank" of the character.

The action for the Creeps takes place in a dedicated zone called the Ettenmoors, where there are various PvE opportunities and even "quests" for the Creeps to undertake. But the REAL reason for the Ettenmoors is it is where Freep characters can come after they reach lvl 40 (though I wouldn't recommend going out there as a Freep until at least 50) to go head to head against Creep players in all out Faction warfare. There are a number of fortifications and hot spots that can be controlled by either side throughout the Ettenmoors, and battles take place to "flip" these Keeps and control points from one side to the other. Also there are various rewards for either side that are Rank based, and as stated earlier Rank is gained by defeating members of the opposing faction and gaining either Infamy (Creep) or Reknown (Freep).

And that's the basics of PvMP.

From what I remember it was cheesy as hell. You have a few  players staying put in "evil" or  "good" side for the battles. Then you have the greater part of the players that just switches side as the battle flows back and forth over capture points. That way they are maximizing theyr points gained for the characters.

Dont know if this still is the case though as it is some time since i played lotro.

That's its different. That seems to be peoples main complaint. I personally thing its an awesome feature that was a very creative way of adding it to the game. There are some players that monster play is all they do.

It's a very nice idea, something new.  Really the only complaint anyone could ever have about it is that Freeps (normal characters) are way overpowered until you get your Mob to level 8+.  Warg packs are still pretty fun to do, and I like the Spider the most.  It's been...awhile...and not very much has been added to PvMP.  You can only capture the same areas so many times before it gets boring.
