yes its a clone if you must say wow clone fine, although wow cloned every other game out there.  Its a little deeper stat wise a little more variation, seems as though you can have some variety among the same classes.  It is beta so customization is a little weak.  Leveling is a little more musical over the usual ding.  All in all, not bad and feels familiar.  I am personally a little tired of subscription based games as the developers change everything all the time to give into the masses.  It took RMT for me to finally give up on wow.  I will not go to far into beta because then I will have to do everything over again.  I like it just as I like Runes of Magic even though everyone bashed these games.  I guess what I don't understand is that the fanboys will flame every decent game but then go and sit in Dalaran for hours on end, so I am not sure what to tell these fans anymore other then this.  I pay to play not to sit.  So hats off to the developers for keeping the feel the same while adding another stat layer.  I look forward to more of these, give it a try and find out for yourself.

Sure you posted this in the right forum? I would think a WoW bashing thread would be in the WoW forums...

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Where is the bashing.?  Fanboy you are?  I said Alganon is a a decent game you should try it, its like wow although a little deeper.  I was preempting everyone crying that it is a clone, it may be but its nice refreshing while providing some new lands to explore, however as for paying for the game I am not quite there yet but give it a try and stop trolling!  Once again it shows that the WOW fanboy club seems to have more time bashing other games then playing wow go figure!

    That's what I was thinking.

It seems the OP is missing out on the fact this game, unlike Runes of Magic, costs literally just as much as World of Warcraft. For the retail box and the subscription. There's no justification to paying AAA costs for a game not even on par in terms of quality as Runes of Magic. Like $50 + $15/mo to play this? I think not.

No justification?  Every "free" to play game I've tried has a horribly immature community and some mechanism for getting you to eventually pay money anyway.  Could it be that subscription fees keep out the worst of the idiots?  I don't know.  Maybe it is just a coincidence.  In my experience subscription fees are a "feature" worth paying for.

I've never played WoW but I don't think it has some of the features which Alganon advertises, like Families, fog-of-war maps, and off-line skill advancement.  Those happen to be attractive features to me.  I suspect some other folks might like them too.

Unfortunately I just don't care for the art style.  I won't buy the game for that reason.  But art styles are just a matter of taste.

What do you think this one is?

And what is wrong with changing the game to include wishes from the 'masses'? You would rather have a stale game where the developers ignore the 'masses'?

There is no way for the developers to do it right, when you are looking for something bad. If they do nothing you will scream "they ignore us!!!" and if they do something you will scream "they give in to the masses!!!".

I would like to say that the differences are utterly and completely buried under the masses of things big and small that are copied from WoW.

As far as the offline skill advancment goes I for one think its dumb when its alongside a level based game. If thats going to be your primary form of advancement like Eve then thats fine but tacking it on to a class/level based system as a secondary character progression system like they have is pointless.

Fog of war, you run around and discover areas in smaller bits than in WoW or WAR thats all.

Families at this point are just chat channles.

When they say fog of war, do they mean exactly like wow has, as in you have to discover a location to uncover it on the map?

Yea but its "innovative" and "exciting" because you discover it in smaller chunks.
