eq2 sucks ass.. srry i dont wanna flame about it, but i bought it paid 2 months for it and dont really enjoy it it's missing something, something i whant.... and also another big point 'pvp' it does not has it, reallly give less excitement..... thats why im chaching to WoW with the battlegroundsupdated. wow's pvp is gonna rock.
Good.. Point of eq2 thought is, you dont get called 'noob' so fast :P or not so many fk kids. thats just the truth about eq2, the comminuty isnt childish usally players around the 20, up to the 40... i often do not cross any1 in a group under tha age of 18, and... saying things like 'noob' is childish, so especially kids say these things. and i can bet on it ill be hearing that on WoW.
Originally posted by Tomo2109 I agree. there aren't many sales atm coz many people dont have machines good enough to run eq2 pleasantly, so when their computers break or something along those lines and get a new one, then sales will boost. For now only the ones who can play eq2 coz they've got uber computers. EQ2 wasnt really meant for it's prime around this time, it's a game that will excell in the future.
Well, that wouldn't be a very good strategy, don't you think? Let's say you make a game. You want it to have an extended longetivity on the market. Now, you won't build it so most computers can't run it when it goes retail. You would not plan for it to start selling only when the first expension is out.
Normally, you would plan so the game could SCALE well from today's machine to the next generation of computers. SOE planned this way for EQ2. The only thing is, it does not scale very well.
At any rate, I don't think its the main reason for low sales. It is mostly due to many reasons. Some other games did better, it seems. EQ2 is good, but not as good as other MMO right now. I would compare this to Quake 3. It was a good game, sequel to a very successful title, but in the end it was not so innovative, and it got beaten by Unreal Tournament which had more polish, gameplay, name it.
Still, Quake 3 sold well. But not as much as expected, and it certainly was not the King of shooters anymore. Same goes with EQ2, to my greatest dismay.

Still, the community is something hard to manage, and not a "feature" you can easily tweek. I would say that popular games get more unfriendly players just because of the sheer numbers of their customer base.
For example, I happen to like Counter-Strike:Source pretty much. It's a great game, both in gameplay and esthetics. But you often come across some jerks. It's a popular game, so a lot of jerks find it amusing to go there and piss off people, by insulting them or simply hacking the game and screwing things up. It's unfortunate, but hardly something I would hold against the game.
I'd probably be playing EQ2 if I had a machine that would run it. My EQ1 guild and most of my non-guildie friends went to EQ2. Since WoW will run on a toaster over, that's what I am playing.
I got called a noob more than once while playing EQ1. After about my fourth year playing, that started striking me as hilarious. I saw a lot of scamming in my days playing that game too. It's not like WoW invented childish behaviour in MMORPGs.
If EQ2 has a more mature base of players, that's great-- I can't wait until I can justify the expense of upgrading our computers so I can get in there. If some people don't want to deal with the bad communities on some WoW servers, and they can do better in EQ2, that's good too. I miss my guild terribly, since there was hardly anyone under 25 in it who wasn't another member's offspring.
I don't understand this continuing EQ2 vs. WoW hostility. It's like siding with mangos over bananas. They are both sweet fruits, but noone is forcing you to eat either one. It's possible that you might like one better than the other, or like neither of them. As for me, I'd love to eat both, but I am allergic to mangos, so bananas it is. Ditto for EQ2 and WoW.
With that said, I really haven't seen too much of the "noob" nonsense on the Horde side on my server in WoW. Occasionally someone will come out and say something dumb like that in the General channel, but everyone else mainly makes a joke of it. My husband was being a dork and rambling on in the General channel, and someone called him a noob, and it turned into a whole conversation about whether he was noobalicious, noobtastic, nooberrific, nooble, etc, until someone declared that it had to stop before he went into noobaphylactic shock. It was funny and goofy.
Another day, I asked where something was, and someone said "in your arse" and I just said, "O...K. Thank you very much. That was so helpful!" while several other people jumped on his/her case about his maturity level.
I figure the player base of WoW will mature a bit eventually. A lot of the whiners will quit. A lot of the kids will get bored and jump on the next bandwagon. And those who stay around will eventually either mature themselves or get tired of being obnoxious buttmonkies. I can stick around for that, if I have to. I've got three teenagers of my own, so I have a rather thick hide for all sorts of obnoxious buttmonkey business.

EQ2 is the best
Am I the only one who sees the humor from these posts where people are leaving a game cause "a kid" made fun of him and he doesn't wanna play the game anymore? Sometimes you really wonder who really is the kid? the person doing the insulting or the person being insulted and cries about it and takes it personal.
Banned from Blizzard cause I was too GOOD!!!
Guess some people love to pay 15 bucks a month to get belittled by brats who use the protection of the internet to be badasses.
I am not playing WoW or EQ2, I find this argument a little funny, beside been nasty braggers, they dont do anything wrong. Some folks leave a group and then loot the quest item and let them in need to kill the mobs again, this would be more the type of piss off stuff.
Anyway, if you want to bash WoW, you should be aware that WoW is about to reach it peek and from there, it will spiral downward(will not die soon, even if they lose 90% players they will remain open). EQ2 will keep progressing, slowly, but certainly. Before Guild Wars is live, WoW will be well advanced on the decline in subscriptions, they should either announce that in less then a month or go mysterious about the topic.
*log back into CoH, as the servers are already showing a much higher attendency then a month ago*
- "Solo is, will always be, the main market. A MMORPG that succeed with little or no solo appeal is doing great considering they are ignoring the main player base.''
They will rush out expansions like candy at that point.

If the official WoW forums are anything to go by, just what did you expect?
