Listen, I got curious about Aion. Character customization caught my attention first.
And I did a little research. As there is no trial or any possibility to try this game before you buy it.
First, all of you should look at the Offical forums for Aion then come back to me.
I'll start of with few points.
- You can do instance for 3-4 hours and kill the final boss and get nothing. 10% chance of LOOT. Boss may drop mana juice for that matter.
* O-okey, that does not make me want to try this game more. But I am positive!
- I have hard time finding any developers post from Aion, it does seem that the developers do not listen to the community but insted out party, driving new ferrari for the money they cash in? I don't know.
- Just by going on Twitter, Offical Aion forums you see people saying to quit the game because of endless bots, lack of content.
* I think, okey. Do not sound good and there is no developers feedback on the worries of over half of the community? Okey.
So I guess my question is!
What can you do from level 1 to level 50 that is fun? That is not PvP.
- Crafting? I've checked with people and it takes F*** forever to progress, more agony then joy?
- Instances? Doing a instance with 10% possibility to get loot after 3-4 hours, fun? I think not.
- Quests? Most of the community from Offical Aion forums report back that rewards from quest are silly. And XP is very low. And they even say there is not enough quests so you find yourself forced to be killing mobs for no reason then XP.
* I also hear that community says that developers want to increase XP given by mobs and decrease XP needed to level!
--- How will that change the fact there is few quests? --- I kinda wonder what there idea of a fun game is.
Sorry, I don't want to be negative. But it's hard while I read all these things that I checked up to be facts in game.
So I kinda write my first post here to see what other people say.
Go ahead and flame if you want. I'm okey with that because I can think for myself, just see if I get any more informartion here that can be good or bad. Because I kinda hoped this game would be fun but then I need facts, what can I do in the game? Everything.
Can't be just as simple as?
1. Instances with sometimes no loot from last boss. After 4 hours.
2. Quests that give very little XP and it's not many of and very repetively.
3. Crafting that demands alot of resources and time. (It's not suppose to be a 2nd job).
4. PvP (Don't bother talking about PvP because PvP is PvP. I like to know what other stuff you can do besides what I mention?)
Last but not least.
NCSoft has a history of MMO's and I would imagine that they learn from the feedback of the community?
But somehow it seem that to me. Aion's content is the same as the beginning of Lineage II?
[ Btw: If you know Aion's Twitter page? Maybe Developers Diary / Reply's on forums website, feedbacks to players? Share? ]
And also I read that many at launch could not play for hours because of problems and NCSoft only wrote a letter to say they was sorry and would not refund any lost time? That's kinda something a guy like me don't want to read if he wants to try the game.
Because giving back lost time is the easiest thing to do.
And also there is NO connection from community with developers shown at the Offical forums that does not show any GOOD WILL, in my opinion. Worries me because a game will never be good if there is no connecting with the community (that plays the game).
And I even saw a topic on the top of the Offical forum of Aion where it said "Here you go to get a bot program, etc" and it was not deleted. It was there a while.

This is my main account. You probably going for personal insults now to make yourself feel better.
Do it if you feel for it.
I guess this really show what MMORPG.com community is like... Time will tell!
- Others, I am still open for some real reply on my writing.
I really enjoy the game of Aion, but I HATE the economy. Gold sellers and shit are absolutely ruining the game. In all honesty, if I had to bet my life on whether or not NCSoft has a hand in it, I would def say they do.
Hm.
This is the company with like 3 MMO titles or more...?
I would imagine with their experience they would not make the game so "open" for bots, easy to do within the game.
And as I mention there is NO communication from the game developers and the community at the launch of the game, I guess that reveal their intention with the game.
And also to try the game you must pay 49,99 euro? That's alot of money in South Korea? So I assume some of the key persons are bussy driving in a fancy Ferrari rather then communicating with the community.
Like - You launch game - You have no sense of talk with the community - Offical forum have page 1 to 10 filled with negative topics about problems with no respond back from a offical game developer.
Smells bad in my opinion.
Guess that's all I get from this community place also. I guess I'll be smart and don't use my money to try this game!
Bye
All of your listed concerns are correct - factually, I should add: the many related anecdotes that can be gleaned from other forums, Amazon reviews, Metacritic responses, etc, are all known traits/mechanisms of Aion. And yes, "lack of content" is a subjective thing - but when compared to literally any other subscription-based Western MMO, Aion undeniably has far less content that's far less sophisticated (were we to assume sophistication = context-sensitive, and/or scripted, and/or engaging and not passive (like cut scenes that you merely watch and don't participate in).
I tried the game and found that the mechanics created a punitive and grinding experience. I think I lasted about two weeks.
I tried Aion out for a month.
The crafting sucked for me. You more or less have to craft items for characters lower level than yourself..because..by the time you got the materials for the item you want to craft you would be over that level and would need to be crafting something else.
The loot drops are like you read about which wouldnt be all that bad if you would get something rare every once in a while.
I couldn't care less about the bots being there if they was allowed to be there..but they're not supposed to be there and it seemed that NcSoft didnt want to do anything about them. I'm sure that a gm working 3 hours a day for a couple of weeks could wipe the bot problem out almost entirely and they could probably just spend a couple of hours a week to keep it regulated.
On the positive side of the game. I thought the combat was fun and everybody I met on there was really nice and helpful when asking questions.
just my 2 cents..hehe
What's wrong with Aion?
lots
Playing Darkfall EU1 Server
bots is the only real problem.
yup and darkfall got game of the year
nah just giving out false information like you
bots is the only real problem.
Well, that and it's a grindy, generic, emo-ballerina-effeminate-angel-infested game that should have been a f2p title.
Other than that, it's awesome.

Pretty Much. Should of been f2p...and a game I haven't seen gold spammers was Guild Wars...but you can't really call that a mmorpg, since you have to be in a party of 4-8 in places.
About the gold spammers, they've been really at work banning those froobs I just see them on stalls now..I wish they upped the exp. I mean I don't have time to sit infront of my computer 12 hours a day to get levels. Other than that, it's awesome. Oh and not to mention you can't PK your own race if they're KSing you...I mean that's frigging retarded. >_>;;

Ight the game is no more grindy than anything else on the market. If you don't like the art style thats your opinion doesn't make it a bad game. If someone is ksing you then your doing something wrong.
my only problem with the game is the bots, and the economy because of them.
Beyond that, great game compared to what we've had these past few years.
