I'm in the middle of downloading right now because there is a free trial code they're giving out at The Escapist right now. My PC is already good enough to play the game personally, and like you, I am hoping that I like it.
From my understanding there are always a decent amount of people on, and in my own opinion its never a bad thing to have a rockin' PC. So maybe instead of just building it for Fallen Earth, build it for all the upcoming MMOs as well. At least then you'll have a decent-enough PC that you'll be able to play whatever the upcoming MMOs are as well!
Population is pretty healthy, people are everywhere. As for building a PC for the game, i would say just go for it because that kind of computer would last you quite awhile so just think of it as an upgrade but um make sure windows 7 supports fallen earth.
I have Windows 7 64Bit, I'll let you know what the deal is with that when I get done. I would have to imagine that they have it up and working for W7 by now considering it isn't a beta OS anymore, it has been launched. They would lose A LOT of members if it wasn't W7 compatible at this point.

I liked it in the beta. I used my current AMD X2 3800+ CPU, 2 GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT and WD VelociRaptor HD. Everything smooth at 1920*1200. So you don't really need that much of a computer if you know to combine the right stuff.
I enjoyed the game btw - it just wasn't enough for me to buy it. SWTOR will be my next fix!
thats the only mmo im interested in. is it worth it? how many people play this? i dont ask on the fallen earth board cause i want all opinions.
IDK,we don't even know what PC you have now.
You do not need anything above windows XP for any game,i would not reccomend W7 or Vista. What you want is a decently fast CPU and the best RAM you can get .I think there is ways to get XP to accept 4 gb ram that is what you should strive for.If you have to have Vista or Windows 7 ,i suggest 8GB of the fastest Ram you can get.
A decent CPU is around 3 ghz,see if your present board can handle any cpu's i ntha trange. You can also look into Overclocking, maybe best to ask a tech pro on doing that, but it may be your bnest bet rather than an upgrade. You may have a 2.4 ghz chip and probably coudl hit 3ghz with it,there is other O/C also like your GPU[graphics],i believe for some reason the 512 mb GT's are the best, better than the 640 MB,but your better to do your homework,my memory is shotty lol.
The main concern is the CPU,most games are coded poorly, the GPU's do not do enough of the work they should be ,so your RAM and HD do alot of caching.Best to separate your HD's[two] one for the operating system ,one for the files,a nice duo Raptor HD is a nice setup.
First option ...look into overclocking, you have nothing to lose there. If the system blows up lol, well you get to buy your new system anyhow lol.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
You can easily build a PC that runs it for $600. That being said, you should never build a PC to run one game. Its better to build with the future in mind.

I second this. Don't build a system for one game or one benchmark. Build it so you can be forward looking with it.

that about sums it up, Ive 2 systems ive built in the last 2-3 yrs, the first i built using Vanguards large open world/graphics are a baseline for what id want it to do, and went from there, the current system that i just finished will be strong enough to go for a few years w/o need of upgrades. Its how i do my system builds

You do not need anything above windows XP for any game,i would not reccomend W7 or Vista.
Windows 7 is more efficient with memory allocation than both Vista or XP.
It is also the first Microsoft OS to include drivers for damn near every hardware combination possible, I've installed it on multiple systems (both old and new) and it has contained the drivers for every single device without fail, regardless of manufacturer.
There's also the fact that XP is going to stop being supported soon, that is a damn good reason to upgrade to W7. Unless you want to run an OS that will, in the very near future, stop receiving security updates and place your system at significant risk of infection.
I recommend it entirely, there is absolutely no good reason to not upgrade to it at this point.

I've been using Windows 7 efficiently since beta 1. I've only ever had any issues with Gameguard, prior to release, and those have already been addressed.
Windows 7, is the best OS I've used in I don't even know how long. I am a total Windows 7 advocate. Like Euphoryk said, there is absolutely no good reason to NOT upgrade to it at this point.
i shouldn't have to go much more than fallen earth's recommended if i plan to play on my hdtv, im also fine with 1024 res. i may want the old republic and red orchestra heros of stalingrad.
well alright, i know what os to get! i shouldn't have to go much more than fallen earth's recommended if i plan to play on my hdtv, im also fine with 1024 res. i may want the old republic and red orchestra heros of stalingrad. my current pc is a 9 year old dell.
Well thats mighty old!
Let me ask you this, how much money do you have to work with? Once we establish your budget, people will be able to recommend actual computer specs to you.
Are you planning on building or buying? That also will make a huge difference.
Once you answer those, I'll probably be able to recommend a few things for you.

9 year old dell? Yes do upgrade your pc. For about 600$ US you can get a very nice gaming pc, for 1k you can get an even better one, but honestly $600 is enough to get you something with plenty of power. I happen to be quite found of building random budget pc's on newegg, if you want I can link you something nice?
I would never ever recommend anyone to build or upgrade their system just for 1 game.
I will however suggest making or upgrading your pc if you are indeed a gamer. Meaning you get more out of a pc then just 1 game. Dont let upgrading or buying a new system depend on one game but base it on what you want out of a PC for now and the future. You might have some fun even with older games you currently are playing, if you try to play them on a newer build but still hard to tell as I do not know what type of PC you have currently.
Lol is it me or are gaming computers pretty darn cheap now o.o? My current one we spent about 1.5k on about 2.5 years ago, meh guess can't complain since i've never played a game i wasnt able to run.

Yeah last year I got and e8400 procy, ati 4850 graphics card, 4 gigs of ram a mobo and power supply for 600 bones.
Foxconn Black FX-TS001A (3 5.25, 5 3.5 bays) Fan, Front Audio/USB
460watt Cooler Master RS-460-PSAR-J3 Power Supply
Onboard LAN included
Onboard Sound included
Standard 1 year parts and labor
$415.00
thats from ecollegepc + a HD4770 video card brings it around $500 thats what im thinking about.
The part you choose are cheap.. too cheap that it's already outdated.. For the Case... not enough Airflow.. computer will fry.. Memory.. i would avoid No name Memory.. Power Supply.. not enough Watt.... Motherboard.. only 2 DDR2?! would need replace if you want to upgrade later.. which will be more expensive

Heh I'm in the same boat as you, I paid 1.4k for a whole system (incl. monitor, keyboard, mouse, sound) 3 years ago, but it's been a beast of a machine the whole time.
It's starting to show its age, but all I need is to upgrade the PSU, crossfire a second video card, and bam, I'm set for another couple years ^_^

$674 or $622 with HD4850 *
Notice that i added the Graphic card.. HD4870 at $166.. or you could just go for a HD4850 at $114
This looks pretty good. You can get the 4870 512ram version for like 120$, and imo, that is the best deal in video card history. I would recommend one strong as it will give you plenty of power and last you a while. 4850 is good, but with the 4870 only 10-15$ more, it's a no brainer
Enjoy your new pc, and get a copy of crysis just to show yourself what this new investment will be capable of.
