DFO the Hitler saga!

Agricola1Agricola1 Member UncommonPosts: 4,977

Just thought I'd post these vids all here in one spot for those that haven't seen them or just want to watch them again,

Hitler wants in on DFO Beta

Hitler DFO pre-order and launch problems

Hitler stuck in DFO queue

Hitler DFO the WoW war

Hitler in DFO: Time to quit?

Well I'm just waiting for the one where he decides to stay now that the player housing and stuff has been added ;)

Enjoy.

This trend of using Hitler references as satire needs to stop.

There is nothing comedic or amusing about the leader of the third reich, a man who gave the orders to slaughter millions of innocent people, for no reason other than his own insane ego trip.

Seriously, I know it is meant to be funny and lighthearted (yes, I've seen the videos), but it really isn't appropriate at all.

Well my advice to anyone who disagrees with using Hitler or movies depicting Hitler for the purpose of Satire shouldn't click those links, nor should they watch the movie "The Producers" by Mel Brooks. If however you do find something like "The Producers" funny I suggest you click away :)

    Actually, it is fine.

Besides, if we can't poke fun at the Nazi's, who can we in these politically correct days?

Such satire often serves to illustrate what an ass the man really was and it ensures that Hitler's place as a villain in history remains.

The worst thing that can happen is for us to forget Hitler, and to let him fade into time, only to have some future leader up and do what he did.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

I can't fucking stand political correctness, it's a cancer on modern society when we have everyone skipping ropes and tip toeing round egg shells. Total bollocks.

As for these Hitler videos, pure genius! Couldn't stop laughing at them when I first watched them.

Nah it's fine, chill. I never got to meet either of my Grandfathers because of WW2. I need to laugh and poke fun at it every once in awhile.

    It's healthy.

Its highly appropriate. It would be inappropriate If you took it and showed it to camp victims and other few circumstances. Most people think its funny, some don't. But thats life, not everyone will agree.

I don't see what was so offensive about them, other than depicting a movie about Hitler in skits about DFO. The subtitles contained nothing racially offensive, and was about satire regarding a MMO game.

As far as history goes, the past should be remembered so it's not repeated. If the name, "Hitler" is a stigma in your memory, then you should not censor people using it, lest you wouldn't have learned of the name to form your own opinion to begin with.

Yeah, the political correctness of this day and age is quite sickening to say the least.

People can call Hitler whatever they want. A monster, a egotistical maniac, an occultist whatever. Fact still remains....

Hitler was a military genius, who almost brought the entire world to it's knees. You can despise him for what he did, but it doesn't make his achievements any less incredible.

I also think Hitler was a crazed madman bent on world domination which is exactly what he was, however, at the same time you have to admire a man who's balls out, kill all who oppose and stand in my way, the world is mine attitude almost destroyed and changed not a state or providence, not a continent.... but an entire planet.

Sorta like Scarface, and you know what Scarface said....

"I'm gonna gonna get what's coming to me, and you know what that is? The world chico... the world."

Oh well, to each thier own I guess.

Hitler wasn't the smart leadership genious man you make it.

He was obtrusive, vulgarly and excesive so people better did what he wanted  them to do to avoid him quickly. Even Mussolini not the finest and sensible character thought of Hitler as of a agrresive pig. It was many Hitlers failures that costed so many lost battles. His generals had often a different opinion of what is to do.

Well he was a political genius, as for military prowess that goes down to people like Guderian. He didn't try to conquer the world, he wanted what was taken in the Versailles treaty, Russia and Poland so that Germany would have it's own source of oil and a direct land route to it. The trouble was everyone declared war on him and he was forced to go West then South by his allies. He ended up going insane from the stress of it all and even tried to set up his own church and believed that the British boy scouts was an organisation trying to take over the world. He and his Nazi henchmen did many foul things whilst in power, but let's try not to be so serious, this is a MMORPG and these videos make no statement regarding the Third Reich, Hitler or WW2 even. It's just a bit of fun so let's all relax and enjoy it and if you find this kind of thing offensive don't click the links! It really is that simple!

I can think of few things more appropriate than turning Hitler into a figure of mockery. At one point, Napoleon was the "Terror of Europe" and occupied the same place Hitler does in the popular imagination. What is he now? A funny little man in a funny little hat. He didn't just lose a battle at Waterloo -- he lost the respect of history. Hitler deserves nothing less. I cannot imagine anyone objecting to people pointing to Hitler and laughing.... except for neo-Nazis who worship the scumwad, of course.

And it's not like making fun of Hitler is anything new.

Now, if only we could do the same to Stalin and Mao, both of whom killed more people than Hitler did (another reason to make fun of him -- he's a distant third in the genocide Olympics), but who have inspired fewer movies to use as YouTube fodder.

Treatng Hitler as some kind of sacred or feared icon empowers him. Treating him as a clown destroys his legacy and infuriates those who still admire him. Win/win.

i find the abuse of why so serious only shortly after the man who played the role died to rather tragic circumstances of celebrity doctors killing some of our favorite people by not making them play by the normal people rules when it comes to dangerous perscriptions.  if you cant laugh at people making fun of hitler its your fault not theirs!  hell south parks been teasing hitler the devil and every single stereotype of human life for how many years now and i dont see you flaming south park now do i?!

The trend of thinking you have a right to assuage anyone from saying or writing anything they want by citing some sort of overblown appropriateness standard has got to stop. YOU came to this thread. It was not pushed upon you. YOU feel its inappropriate so in the future I would recommend YOU not engage in that sort of behavior but YOU have absolutely no right to tell anyone else how to act, feel, communicate.

    YOU got that !?
