Let's be realistic. If they have a (last?) beta test in february, they will have to adjust the code and implement the good ideas and make adjustments according to the feedback that will follow in the weeks after.
So let's say the suggestions forum will end at february 20th, minor tweaks and changes will take at least a few weeks to code, implement and test, so that's already medium march (I'm optimistic now) and so the end of march is probably an estimate of the 'gone gold' date.
Printing of CD's and (possibly) putting on a server where you can pay and download the game will take another week. So somewhere in april we might be able to - at last! - enjoy the full game!!
Official release date has not been announced. All ArenaNet officials will say is 'early 2005'. The best we've gotten from them is 'first quarter 2005', so it's safe to assume anytime between now and April would be the best and safest bet.
Will try to keep up with this and post if the date changes.

Just to clarify, you've never heard any mention of quarters from us. The only official word is simply "early 2005." We're not being coy or intentionally withholding information. We truly have not set a release date, and will be sure to let everyone know when we do.

Remember, we don't want to be pushing these programmers. It takes time to get this game to be as bug free as possible. We don't want it to end up like World of Warcraft of Star Wars Galaxies.
In my opinion, the longer it takes, the better it will be.

I'm a big Star Wars fan; and IMHO SWG was the biggest let-down of a MMOG I have ever played. AFAIK, it seemed to be rushed out the door to meet their deadlines. The better, and more thorough, the beta testing there is, the better the end product will be. I don't want to see it go down like SWG.
Haven't played WoW. I like the warcraft series, but not enough to pay per month for it.
On the WoW point, i pre-ordered it after i ordered GW cos i wanted something to fill the space, but after having looked through their site and looked at proffesions etc. and stories of stupid server down time and bugs i think im regretting it. Everything is so restricted, if i choose 1 race i can only be these classes, if i choose these classes only these skills will be useful, etc.
nothing at all like the variation and strategy you get in GW, but oh well, YOU CAN GET TO LEVEL 60, oh wait, that's just a number and makes no difference,
I suppose it's a different type of game anyway, i'd probably even enjoy it, but for me GW is teh way so lets allow the programmers to weave their magic. :P

Sure there is something you can do. You can go PvP and hunt down all those n00b players that are 20 or less like you see on a lot of other PvP servers. I heard the PvP in WoW (what little there was) is rather boring. PvP is a big part of MMOGs, and if the game doesn't have much in the way of it; well that sounds rushed out the door to me (IMHO).
Thanks for the clarification, Gaile. I could have sworn I heard something about 'First Quarter', but could be in the discussions I've had with friends who run a local PC Game shop.
Deadaye... you are definitly right. Ever notice hoe japanese games take so long to produce? and they turn out being the best? thats because the work hard on them
well im not gonna get to specific or anything but almost all of my fav non online RPG's are japanese made..as well as a great deal of other great games
I know this dosnt hold much weight, but EBGames.com just adjusted the ship date yesterday from some time in april to March 22nd. Not sure why they would change the date unless they had a reason... might meen nothing, but we can always hope!

If u look at the homepage, under "Upcoming MMORPG releases" there is a date listed there for GW.
