there thunder and lightening in blasted lands, rain in the wetlands I think and snow in dun morgoh(sp?) there is a polluted fog thats gives a feeling of desolation in stonetalon mountains were the venture CO. loggers and suff are and up around morbent fel there is a think puple dark fog. These are just the few that come to mind.
No rain That's a shame, it would of really added more to the game. But at the same time, you don't have people saying: "NO!!! Stupid rain is lagging my PC! I can't play when it rains!" ... if you ever played Star Wars Galaxies, you'll know what I mean.
But instead, Blizzard did model each area with a different environment, and you can freely explore those areas as you gain levels! But don't worry, you don't have to be Level 60 to explore them all! Okay so there is 1 area I can't wait to see once I reach level 50+ ... the Blastered whatever-it's-called Area with lava, dragons and stuff like that. Can't go there yet. But anything under level 30, you can freely explore swamps, snow, mountains, forests, jungles, deserts, deadlands, rivers, sea, beaches, etc.
That's what I love about WoW. Each racial start area is a different environment. Start as an elf, you get huge forests. Start as a Gnome you get a snowy mountain area. Start as an undead you get this really f***ed up Tim Burton dark gothic style places. Start as an Orc you have deserts and deadlands.
I guess that compensates for the no-rain.
But we do have time changes. You will see the sun rise and go down, then the moon will appear. Really nice.
May depend on peoples settings. I see some, but it's not all the time changing like in EQ. Some peeps may turn environmental effects off to save processor usage. Peace.
