Any other MMo's Like FFXI??

mattatbestmattatbest Member Posts: 13

FFXi is the first mmo ive played and i loved it. i stopped playing ffxi because it was hard to catch up to everyone. i wish i never quit playing it to be honest. im currently playing WoW and its ok to kill a little boredom but its just too easy and not enough grouping. can anyone suggest a new game for me to check out that consists of alot of grouping ?

Aion. You'll be grinding mobs for hours and hours like the good ol days in FFXI.

I'm really aching to play Aion but my computers video card wouldnt support it i dont think... i dont even know how to check. i tried playing the beta when that was out and my computer couldnt handle the graphics.

FFXI was my first MMO also.  Played for 2.5 years and just quit about five months ago.  Loved my time playing but don't have the free time to commit to endgame anymore.  I tried Aion and the grind is like FFXI but the complexity is no where near FFXI's level.  It's very simplistic imo and didn't hold my interest.

Vanguard is very like FFXI in a lot of ways but if your computer won't handle Aion then it won't handle Vanguard.  Vanguard, imo, is the best PVE game out right now.  The biggest problem with Vanguard right now is not enough people play so it's sometimes hard to find a group.  I've been playing Vanguard since quitting FFXI.  Getting in a good guild in Vanguard is a requirement to enjoying the game if you like to group a lot.

I've heard good things about LoTRO and will probably give that a shot soon.  You may want to look into it.  Not sure if it is like FFXI in regards to grouping and complexity but it may be worth a try.

Although not an MMO, Dragon Age Origins is a really really good single player game that has been pulling me away from MMOs a lot lately.  It has a really good story line but is fairly linear.

I'm really in a holding pattern on MMOs while waiting for Heroes of Telara and FFIVX to come out.  Hopefully one of those can hold my interest for a few years like FFXI did.

I too have been trying to find a slow paced MMO like FFXI.. but there just really aren't any.

As suggested the closest you'll find is Vanguard, LOTRO, and you can play EQ2 slower paced.. but its still alot like WoW.. they just update alot less often so its easier to stay in the game.

I've almost debated just playing FFXI at least until FF14.. and who knows, maybe we'll get a package deal where we can play both when FF14 releases.

I agree with the person above. I've been playing games off and on after I quit XI, my server wasn't very populated and I didn't want to bother switching, but after a few run-ins with my horrible graphics card I'm considering going back too it. My dilemma is do I get it for my Xbox 360 for the obvious better graphics and controls, or play it on my computer again for the ease of typing, not really into that tiny keyboard thing for the Xbox controllers. I just loaded up a game called Pandora Saga, the graphics and look of it reminded me of XI but not too sure about the grouping, and it's F2P. Only game I think would be in the scope of XI is XIV, which isn't out yet.

Go with PC.. I have it for both, and the graphics are still better for PC simply because you can tweak them beyond what the game allows.

My graphics card is so old and outdated I can't do any tweaking until I upgrade. Sorry to be so off topic with this. I'll be picking up the Ultimate Collection next week then :)
