There is no official word out, for now, but the Devs vision is to setup a system similar to EVE, i.e. ONE world. There will be no "servers" like in WoW rather than a server cluster with different parts of the world located on different regional servers. It's seamless though so you simply walk from one server to another. Streaming chunks are to be expected as well as a slightly different latency if you visit, quite literally, another part of the world. This is wat is envisioned, planed and worked on - if its gonna be what we see in the end ... time will tell. So far the netcode seems to work fine for most US players. I could and would give some more assuring information but that would break the NDA. I'm sure all your questions will be answered as soon as the NDA is liftet (which shouldn't be that long from now).

At this point we can only say that a US based server is planned. As Henrik said before we might even see that during beta. We will of course inform you as soon as we can.

From the mortal online forums. Could be either forms. Still don't know for sure.

thanks guys, dont really understand what he was saying about walking to different servers though. would that be like walking from one copy of the world to another copy of the world? doesnt seem to make sense

You wouldn't notice much. It would be a seamless world with a lag spot possibly when your character leaves one server and starts on another. You do not change worlds, just how your character is handled on the server. Different areas of the world would be handled by different servers, but it would only be one world for every character. They are called clusters, but I have no technical knowledge of how they work. I just know that multiple servers would be used for one large seamless world.

From my understanding the way they plan on implementing this is, basically like real life NA server is basically a continent reserved for NA folks and you can visit other continents.
Star Vault have said, the first one will be an European server, but the next one will be a NA server. Because there are many people from US playing MO. It's like 50%.
Yeah, there will probabely be N/A servers soon. But you should be able to play fine even at their EU server. I am playing with americans daily, hell, even players from Australia and they are at same fps as me!
Just come join, and when the N/A servers is up, just switch to that one...

If you join while there's still only a EU server, you can transfer to the NA one free when it opens.

For the record.
I transferred my character from the EU to NA server in DF.

Yeah but only after they were faced with the "crucial" dilemma of losing 50%> of their current playerbase due to a typo { yeah that's what we'll call it } of changing their policy from "one character per server" to "one character per account"
Phew that was a close call, imagine if they actually had lost half their playerbase due to a "typo"

Wrong. 1 character per account means simply what it says: i character per account. If you had an account with a dfo character on it and you wanted to transfer you character you would need to create another account or delete you character. /facepalm

The parallels between MO and DF are frequent.
Let's hope the end result turns out better.
Experiencing both at similar levels before release MO is already in better shape than DF in my opinion. MO just has a lot more substance already.
I paid EUR 54.95 which translated to Canadian $ Jul 21, 2009 MORTALONLINE.COM MALMO $86.10 for the Box. If there are just EU servers to start that is ok with me as alright inet connection.

Must we go to the part where they claimed that in order to play in the NA server on launch one must buy the client due to copyrights for the NA server being owned by a different distributor *couch*, bullcrap,*cough* and that transfers would be allowed from EU to NA in a few months time from the NA launch for a nominal fee , which caused all the uproar and had a good portion of the playerbase screaming bloody murder and threatening to quit?
Has SV, so far, ever said one thing then done another? No. Up to this point, which has been quite some time, when SV has said what it is they're going to do or are already doing then that is the case. They said they would regularly update the community on the beta status - they've done that. By tracking those updates we have seen how much work they've actually done.
They said straight up what one of the purposes of the pre-orders was. Most companies would just put up a pre-order with some phony release date and then push it back just to get some cash.
Back when I was following DF AV constantly lied (through Tasos or otherwise) and generally seemed very unprofessional. SV is, if anything, the exact opposite of AV. Professional, honest and genuinely interested in their community both as developers creating a world and as gamers themselves. Hell, it's not hard to talk with an MO dev since they visit their forums fairly regularly.

Probably, but you guys are gonna have to bow to Euros say welcome to the next world main currency folks.
But no worries, you credit card company automatically makes all the exchange rates...

From what I glean on the following thread yes. To be honest I don't see a NA server not happening.

Its listed in euros because the company is from sweeden.
I paid for my copy of MO in dollars. Eu people actually paid more than I did for the same version.
It will be an international release, not sure if they will have non-Eu servdrs at launch tho.
My sig is just as logical as your posts are
That would be sweet. An NA server.
