Waits for the "too little too late" posts and the "my account was banned and I did nothing wrong"
Comments
LOL
Here is the link to the post as the admin puts it: Ban Hammer Claus just came to town
XD
There are some people who were wrongly banned to be fair. Also a lot of players who botted are now banned, I just hope there are less genuine players who have used bots than I have in mind so that the server population doesn't suffer.
Better late than never, this is a good step in the right direction, and shows that they are listening to the players, and do not want a bot-infested game.
Fortress crashing is fixed, spam is now merely a minor annoyance, and it seems that getting rid of bots is next on the list thankfully.
I am actually amazed at the response levels from NC Soft - I have never seen a company admitting to and fixing issues in such a timely manner.

Well, thats a big fat lie, and I am a fan of AIon.
Ive been having the crashing since open beta, and it took them the entire Open Beta, plus the entire first month of live gameplay to actually admitting the crash, plus, the solution came on this last patch, so, they took around 3 months to solve a crash affecting thousands of players.
Thats not a very good service in my book.
Nonetheless, glad its solved and glad to see they are working on the botting problem diligently.

I'm sorry... what?!

Hahahahah, get em NCSoft, fuggin scum gold sellers ruin games!
If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)
Still plenty of shops open last night. I think NCSoft should embark on a 'deputizing' strategy for players. If anything, ought to be fun
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
The shops are coming and going... a LOT lately
I spent all day crafting yesterday because I wanted to get my tradeskill up to 399... so I spent a TON of time at the broker
What I noticed
- First - there was a ton of RMT set up... all kinds.... I ignored, moved along, went to go craft
- I came back.. and there was ZERO... I mean, none - absolutely empty. I couldn't believe it. Thought I was in the wrong place
- I went back to craft, slowly noticed throughout the day there were more popping up.... even one I had a good laugh at which had the name "fucku" which I assume was him being VERY pissed off that his account got banned (hehe - I loled)
- I came back again and he (as well as all his sad friends) - were again, COMPLETELY gone....
- I went back in again before bed and they were all there again (about 5-6 of them).
My point? They laid the ban stick at LEAST 2 times yesterday on my server alone... yes, it didn't completely prevent them and they did come back (likely with another account) but at least I could visually see NCSoft was doing something about the problem. This morning they are there again, but Im sure it's just a matter of time before it gets cleaned up.... with the 16k accounts banned, my actual SEEING them fix it first hand and then on top of that having Scott Jennings in the fold - I have a lot more faith that the bots problem will be addressed. They'll likely never get rid of all of them but right now they're fighting it... that's at least half the battle.
And yes - I agree they should have done all this 2 months BEFORE release..... at least they are doing it now - our friendly game "that shall not be named" took years before it cleaned up the RMT/Bots (ohhh yes, it does have Bots)
MMMMMMMMM...QQ tears.....more please.
Not at all.
I read your post and thought i might as well check....and...
You're right GONE, yes all the bots in my little corner of the world GONE.
Suddenly I feel the love for this game again. I wish it had been sooner, but I'm so pleased they've done it. Suddenly I can stop wondering what game I'm going to move to.
And then I made 800K just selling mats I'd been keeping at the broker.
Nice job NCSoft.
WTF why have i been banned for? I've never used bots or bought/sold kinah.... Then I realised I still had PeerBlock up and forgot to turn it off HAHA!!
Just come back from work and logged in and i've seen a few still lurking around but it has pretty much cleared them up on the server i'm on.
Good work NCsoft... about time but still.. better late than never.
I cry "victory" if the bots are in one month still gone.
Actually, NCSOFT did respond in a RELATIVELY timely manner. When i say relative, I mean compared to other MMO's in the past.
To the people bitching and wondering and thinking banning bots is so easy and simple, it's obvious you've never programmed a day in your life. Either that, or you program in simple high level language like Matlab and don't know the real infrastructures of programming.
Sometimes, programming menus for restaurants can take a week just debug. I mean simple stuff like, when a waitress enters in an order, it should be first in first out to the cook, meaning, the cook should see what items were ordered first to cook it first for customers right? Well, sometimes, bugs happened, and some new dishes that were later added had their priorities mixed up... such a simple concept took us a week to find out the problem.
Imagine trying to find botters and proving it... hey for all you know ijklkjlkj the gladiator could be some 6 year old kid forced to farmed by commies and isn't really a bot....
Then there's the, why dont GM's ban each botter one by one... do you have idea how long that's going to take and the potential innocent people that is going to fall victim? You want an efficient algorithm and method to mass ban accounts that have high probability of being a bot, not just GM's banning people based on OPINION AND JUDGEMENTAL CALLS. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO AGE OF CONAN. GM's had the power to make all the judgemental calls they wanted to, and look how many innocent people got banned (I did due to abuse, i ganked some f***** nonstop and he had GM friends).
Oh, I'm not a fanboi either, I don't play Aion due to RL stuff but I watch my Son play it every now and then. Then he asked me about the Bot issue, thought I might add my 2 cents.
Dont you worry about bots, i already sent the codes and botting program to the main office for ncsoft west 6 days ago.
I still love to read from the botting players comments like " Why am i banned, i didnt do ANYTHING." that was priceless.
seeing their face is also priceless.
On a related note: Aion now has 500 players remaining.
I kid I kid!
LOL, Ban Hammer Claus! Ut, oh, someone's on the naughty list!
Seriously, HUGE thumbs up! Swing that ban hammer!

Well my account was never banned, but in their first wave my wife's account got hacked. It was found that she wasn't the culprit and she doesn't visit gaming sites or even read the chat to click on links and etc. They reinstated the game for a day then another department shut it down, investigating in activity that occured during the time it got hacked. The CSR stated the departments don't communicate with each other and this is why it happend. Well they kept it locked until the free month was up and 2 days after it was up the unlocked, but wouldn't credit the time back. So essentially the victim got victimized twice, which although is legal that doesn't make it ethical.
So all in all they ended up losing 4 monthly subscriptions for just not giving the time back that my wife paid for in the first place. At least they got the money from 4 prerelease collector's editions. The game we liked a lot, except for the botting and wall of spam. Now I am not foolish enough to think that our 4 subscriptions really makes a difference, but I am sure this kind of treatment wasn't an isolated situation.

Private botters got hurt bad by this, but gold farmers... Well, they'll be back.
