This game worth returning to?

FearGXFearGX Member Posts: 317

I bought Aion at release, got to about level 20, and didn't see much from this game, and then went back to WoW releasing 3.2 patch.

I was just wondering is Aion worth going back for a second try? I know I didn't get a decent high level, but hearing about Bots and hackers were going to destroy the game, it didn't prompt me to stay. Is the game overrun by hackers or is Ncsoft keeping it under check? What has changed with Aion since launch, any new features, gameplay or prime updates? If the game is pretty polished i'll consider returning.

Recently saw a trailer for some new Aion content as well, is this already implemented, an upcoming patch or a new expansion??

I want a game that has alot of gameplay over graphics. Mini games, capturing objectives, player houses, lots and lots of content outside the box, enjoyable content all round, not the same old endgame style content. More fun then grind, or makes grinding fun. I favor a questing type level system then grindfest (kill 10000 mobs for a level). Again, Gameplay, gameplay and gameplay! Genres: Medieval, RPG, Modern/historical fantasy, GTA style gameplay?? Roleplaying, PvP Optional not forced (example walking into a zone flags you, this should be optional unless its 1 specific zone) futuristic?? (although not favored will consider if alot of gameplay).

Aion isnt the one youre looking for. I would suggest to wait for the next WoW expansion or check out AoC. Not much mmorpgs out which fit your bill.

man its been just over 2 months from live launch, how much do you think it could change?

i'd wait at least another 2-3 months but thats just me. IMO if you quit once you'll quit again, there are lots of new mmo's comming out 2010. Hell if you're looking for another Korean mmo with amazing graphics theres TERA comming out check it out on this site.

I would say definately not.  Grind hardly changed with the xp boots, not as bad as oldschool grind from say eq1 or ff11 for instance.  Boss drops are still as crappy aside for minor changes.  Drops in general are still piss poor, hardly ever you see anything other than some kinah or grey vendor trash.  Gold farmers now own the game economy and keep driving prices up on anything that is worthwhile.  Rift zones are infested with high level gankers, dont go out alone.  Abyss still a complete snoooze fest and mostly a ghost town aside from some guard farmers and bots and the times when forts are open for siege. Fort sieges are still boring as each is usually over within 5-10 mins.   And CC is running rampant without any plans for some kind of DR or immunity timers any time soon.

If this is appealing to you then by all means come on back, it's your money after all.

Really, mmos are not about anything today other than what your friends are playign aions doign well. Its an awful game that has worse combat system than 10+ year old mmos. But people like it cause its cool lookin and their friends are playign it, i personally knew its combat system looked like junk but my friends are playing it so i gave it a go and well its combat system is junk. But they just banned like 16k accounts for bots/ etc. so thats good news but when i quit a few weeks ago 85% of the people i saw were bots so...

Its sad really, like CO combat system si new and maybe one of the most enjoyable ever made. But it has 0 endgame, 0 itemization (ok it has some , but might as well be 0), 0 need to group. Wonderful customization. So basicly atm mmo dev.s are left handed or right handed. Left hand great endgame, grouping = good etc (but bad combat poor character devlopment). Right hand Great customization, great combat (but no end game , bad use of grouping).  Maybe ill write about this ina  new post more.

Aion is totaly a left hand game.

Worst class development in an mmo possibly ever.

Awful combat system its dull, slow, has no tactical requirement, its always the same (NO matter what your fighting, pvp and pve )

It has a ton of end game instances and equipment, a good pvp system, and you need to group for a lot of the content.

So its about what you like, i personally demand great combat and character devlopment. I like to be challenged when playign and i like to plan out how i want my character to play. So aion is not a game for me.

If you are lookign to play around with freinds and want to get cool loot and kill strong bosses aion is a game for you.

That's strange that you stopped at level 20. I mean the real fun begins at 20 and when you are 25 your on yoru way to the big leagues.

The OP: here is the situation - the better Aion gets - the  more frustrated the haters get.

After all this is a game they were bashing - any improvement exposes the flaws in their arguments. Plus they are missing out on the fun. Thus they become more vociferous - so that is something to keep in mind.

Whether or not Aion is good or bad is besides the point,  it is all about whether they were initially right or wrong. Most of them would probably rather choke and suffer  than admit they were wrong.

Just try it for a month. If you dont like it you can quit again.

Try not to be so critical, try to have fun and maybe you will. Everyone seems to want to be a critic.

I agree. I was critical of this game saying that its boring and such. Turns out 2 days before my subscription ended i made a Spirit Master alt and I was having loads of fun. Turns out the cleric i got to 33 was just a boring class go figure....

Might resub. only time will tell

I'm not going to bash the game. It's not a bad game really, I just couldn't bring myself to log in, just didn't grab me.

My honest impression: Aion = Pokemon gone WOW.

I'm not a fan of asian games but I wanted to give this game a fair shot because I heard the PvP was similar to DAOC old Emain, just couldn't do it.

Hope it does well for those who do like the game... just not for me.

    Happy Thanksgiving :)
