GW is an awesome game, one of the best i've played, but no I wouldn't pay to play. I already own the game, why would I want to dish out another 20 bucks a month to play? MMO's are the biggest scam video game scam, ever. I'm glad GW is going away from the pay to play, brings tears to my little eyes.
As a general policy, I buy games. I don't rent them. So the answer would have to be no. But IF I were willing to rent, I suppose it would to to GW before any of the rest.
I'm fine with buying it like this, for me it's the benefit of being able to buy expansions as and when i want instead of paying monthly for content that may in my opinion be irrelevant. Plus the fact that if i cant afford to buy an expansion when it comes out, i can continue to play until i do have the money, instead of being kicked off until funds become available.
The real reason i'm playing is only slightly to do with payment options however and more to do with the gameplay, a lot of people seem to think that all GW players are merely going for a cheaper version of WoW and although i do agree that they should be compared, you cant take all the positives from WoW and set them against the negative aspects of GuildWars.
The fact that this is not a pay to play means that it is much more accessible to friends who may not play as much as me and can't justify paying £15-£20 a month to play.
I ordered GW and WoW, i don't however plan to play WoW when GW comes out, it's simply a better game which hasnothing to do with the fact that it isn't p2p.
When people talk about GW and say it is worse they make the assumption that because it isn't p2p it isn't as good, you need to make 2 comparisons instead, which is the better game, and then which is more viable in a monetary sense.
I would play GW if WoW was free and GW was p2p, however i'm still ecstatic that i can play such a great game for free.
Chances are I wouldnt, but after playing this game in the beta it made me relize how hoow MMO's really are. I'm now planning on paying for DnL when it comes out, even though I think it is the biigest scam and rip off ever (If you have a good game you should make enough money to keep the servers up, you gotta have a shitty game if you cant even get enough money for the servers) So i voted yes I would pay to play, this is the best game I have ever played, and I would pay for it espcially now after the beta, Im just waiting for the next one so bad lol.
Guild Wars - Rorick Aurlith E/Mo pumped up with the best armor and weapon, has all his skills, and runes. PvP King!
Dark Age of Camelot - Leaton 50 Vampiir - Lamorak - Guild: Magic and Mayhem!
No, I wouldn't p2p GW, because if it were p2p it wouldn't be GW. Games that are p2p are designed to be time-wasters from the ground up, with fluff added on top to keep you smiling and your heart going pit-a-pat. GW was designed to be free from the very beginning, which means it was designed to be fun FIRST AND LAST.

But you said you'd do that 'cause of me? p.s. suckup
Well I presume there have already been handsful of discussions about monthly fees.
I know its much harder for MMORPG server than other servers to host a great number of players but I find an annual fee of $ 150 quite a huge amount.
Say if you could play for free, but the game would cost you $ 150? Of course, the argument would be: not many people would buy it and if you get enough of it in the current situation, you can stop p(l)aying.
And another argument is that people could buy the game not knowing about the fee, or worse: they bought it as a present for their children who could get hooked after a month of free on-line playing. And then you have already invested $50 and a couple of whining kids - what can you do?
Be it because of their smart client-server technology or not: I think ANet has chosen a very decent way to market its game, I really appreciate that! Even if they will produce a great number expansion packs, you can still play without them and its still way cheaper than the annual $ 150.

I wouldn't pay for it. Why? Because that won't be fair from the developer side. As someone already said, no monthly fee was designed from the very beginning and that's the way it should be.
I, like many europeans, do not have a credit card, which means we'll have to resort to more dark and arcane modes of payment for starters.
One of the things that drew me to guildwars, was the promise of a good MMORPG that -didn't- require monthly fees. It's just not something I can afford, and I'd feel horribly cheated if I didn't play for a month and had to keep on paying.
y pay for a game you already payed for.its just a big scam if you have to pay like 50 dollars or somethin on a game than pay like 10 bucks a month to play it. its like buying an xbox game and than havin to pay the xbox 10 bucks a month for the xbox to let you play the game
For any of you that play Magic: The Gathering, Card game, I put it in this sense. You can play a card like Draco, crazy awesome, but it's got a "costed upkeep" where you pay more mana every turn to keep it out. So, if you take a good card like Akroma Angel of Wrath, that's your guildwars, it's awesome by itself, then you throw a slow time on it, 2 mana every upkeep. It's evil, and your "opponents" sneak tactic. I see it as, you have so many games, but like the crazy upkeep costing creatures, they're not worth it, you go for the good cards with no upkeep, like guildwars. And to throw an upkeep charge on there just sucks, now don't it?
If you understood that, your a nerd f00.
This is where I put some wierd trademark for myself, well my trademark is a picture of me owning you.

keep the pole alive! post some comments.....
Since this IS an MMO website I'd take a wild swing in the dark, and say most of us here don't mind monthly fee's.
On the other hand, from the dozen or so times I've played Guild Wars on their Beta Weekends.... I'd say it's not worthy of a montly fee.
It's just a fancy pants version of Diablo, or Dungeon siege. IMHO of course...
No, but that's because I don't play any game with montly fees
I wouldn't pay for Guild Wars if it wasn't without a monthly fee, because
1) I hate paying for a game I already own ( so this is one of the few mmorpg's I would play )
2) I don't have my own credit card.

I personally would pay for Guild Wars after having played it and fallen smitten with it.
I would not, however, have ever given it a chance and looked at the game if it had had a subscription fee.

I'm not pretty sure whether i will pay for it....i still hadnt played it yet,but it seemed a good game
i cant get cdk in my country, its a pity.

Simply put, no, i wouldn't.
I would stil play it
i'm not going to let 10dollars or something stop me from playing a game that looks that good
Well at least there will never be a fee to play this game, i don't see how people can pay to play WoW EQ2 or insert game name
