Face of Mankind OPEN BETA

01Neptune0101Neptune01 Member UncommonPosts: 82

Just wanted to inform people that the face of mankind Open Beta is only days away now, so all your Sci-fi fans get ready to download it. I am a huge sci-fi fan myself and fully advise others to try out this great game. Theres no level grinding, or pointless shooting of mobs for hours to get levels its ALL player run from the enconmy to the Law system to Leading one of the 10 factions. All PvP is purely on player skill and the equipement you have so dig out them FPS skills, but if you think its going to be a frag fest youll end up in jail very fast. It seems alot of people dont know its coming so hopefully some more of do you now. For more info read the FAQ at,

http://www.fomportal.com/

Hope to see you there.

Hmm.. I may have to check this out... can't beat "Free" when it comes to MMORPG's... even if it is for a short beta time. :)

How well do you think the idea of "perma dead will fly"?

If in the first month of the free trial a player gets 3 clones doesn't do enough missions to earn credits,

for clone replacement, how do you think that will bode with the longeivity of the game?

Also imgine the creating of new chararcters after a year or so with naming that will be loads of fun.

My other thoughts are if enough toons have to start over and over, there is no need to work on "high end content".......

Is there perma death in FoM, didnt knew bout it...?

4.11) What happens if I die?
The "death system" is fairly unique to this genre of MMORPG. When you die you will have a set amount of time to wait before you can respawn back into the game. When you do respawn you will re-appear in your own "apartment", "flat" or in a safe zone such as a hotel. The amount of time you have to wait before you respawn varies. But it shouldn't be too long and will be fixed during beta testing. FoM will feature semi-permadeath. To be able to respawn after death, a player needs at least one clone.

In addition, the player needs a gene image taken from his/her body. Every player has a standard gene image when entering the game for the first time. Clone production will be part of the economic system. So everyone can produce it. They will be expensive and the production will be complex. But as clones are very important for everyone, they will probably become the most available products on the market.

There will be 3 types of clones and the standard 3 quality levels for each. Finally there are 9 quality degrees for clones.

The quality of a clone influences the values of Health, Stamina and Bio Energy compared to the value saved in the gene image. Let's say clone type 1 / level 1 is the cheapest clone available and can only come up with 10% of health. Then lets assume the health value in your gene image was 80%. So, you will awake with only 8% of health. Pretty much near death. You will definitely need a medipack. In addition to that the chance to loose one or more implants increases the lower the quality of a clone is.

There is a perma-death system but you would have to be VERY stupid to manage to lose a character. Its like the eve-online clone system, if anyone has played it you know its possable you lose all your skill points, but you would have to be dumb to do it.

what about the minimum/recommended requirements???? and why is this game so good?

  • 01Neptune0101Neptune01 Member UncommonPosts: 82

The have been no requirments set yet, but it should not be to hard to run about the game being good, i'd read the FAQ on the website for all the info to see if you like the idea.
