I never bought anything from Steam before just curious if you have to have the steam client open to launch Champions Online if you bought it from them?
Just curious is all on how steam works with MMOs you buy from them.

No. It will install inside the steam client if you try to install through steam. If you want to stop using steam all you have to do when you buy it is not install, click the my games tab, right click to view your serial key and create an account and download the client off the official site.
Any time you purchase a retail version of a MMO, it usually comes with the 30 days. Steam is no exception, so I would say yes.
Indeed any MMO with a 30 day trial will have a 30 trial on all versions regardless of where you purchase it from.
It seems CO is on sale all over the place constantly for the past few weeks (of varying prices), and they've been handing out free weekends like candy too, at least recently. It makes it quite clear how the sub numbers have held after that first month. Lets hope they can pick it up, but with them releasing another large-IP MMO in only a few months I worry for the future of Cryptic as a whole.
But the question remains - Is it worth it? 20 bucks isn't a whole lot.....but still.
Well it's free to play this weekend so spend a day playing and get an idea if the game is for you.
Basically this. I bought the game and I have to say it was worth it, kind of nice to play something different from the rest of the generic crap out there.
P.S. Nice sig. xD
"IRL is a pretty upstanding MMO with thousands of classes, a lot of PvP and even some pretty unique emotes and titles you can acquire. Explore that world first, then we'll talk about this virtual one."

Seems odd too me that the game sells for so low so soon. How could it drop 50%+ within 2 months?
Anyway free weekend should be going on so play the game and see if you like it.
I think they hid a lot of the flaws fairly decently. Most people might not see the flaws til L20+.
