Heh No I'm not looking to buy your account
Sell me FE.
I'm currently looking at it and considering buying.
I have a year long sub to Aion which I am enjoying but am also feeling a little burnt on it and would like a second MMO to mix things up in.
Me as a gamer.
Well I started with SWG Pre-CU and TBH its the pinnacle I hold all MMO's to.
Aion is grindy fun but its community is absolute scum.
I am looking for a game in a different setting that is niche and has a strong sense of community something where players will stop and chat give advice maybe even RP a little rather than "dude STFU and pull that mob"
Since WOW communities have become very me me me and I'm looking for a home to get that sense of a pre WOW community back.
Could FE be that place ?
Comments
Yes.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
FE is an excellent game.... until you hit the level cap. And yes I understand that the developers hope to get to level 150 eventually but the cap is 45 right now, and there is absolutely nothing to do at lvl 45. Unfortunately if they don't come up with a solution to occupy lvl capped players, I do not think it will ever get to the level 150 they envision. And even with modest gameplay time you should hit 45 in 6 weeks or so.
Fallen Earth, could be that place.
I am subbed to Fallen Earth right now and have a lvl 19, as well as a few alts, and It has one of the best communities i have ever seen.
people are helpful, talkative, polite! (for the most part)
tell you what, I bought the game at futureshop, so i got a boxed version, that comes with a trial key (15 day i think)
if you're interested I would gladly donate mine to an interested member of mmorpg forums :P
anyway, great game, great community.
PlayED: Ragnarok Online, World Of Warcraft, Ragnarok Online 2, Age Of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Eve, DDO, Champions Online, FFXI.

based on what you say you're looking for, i think FE is a great choice for you.
don't expect a high degree of polish or glitz, but the community is awesome and the game is more about great story, great setting and well-written quests. (pretty much polar opposite of AION).
i think it's great a 2nd game to AION. I play EQ2 just for the raiding, which is twice a week, rest of time i play FE for the great feel and story. works out great

Awesome premise....bad delivery to me.
But like AO in it's day....might be worth the wait as far as the long haul goes. Had a ton of awesome features. Yet had a bad delivery to me. Can't wait to see what they do though. So many MMOs improved over the years from launch.

join a smaller RP guild on an RP server in WoW... if you the the right one it can get some old feelings from the old days back
Not even true. I've been playing four weeks now and I have two characters at 12lvl. Plenty of players are playing at a similarly slow pace.
This game is no different than many. Some players rush to cap and then complain. Same old same old. Many players I speak to in chat are finding this game very relaxing, and feel like they can enjoy the journey.
So if you play FE (or any MMO for that matter) and want to be bored, the surest way to accomplish that is rush to cap. My advice, don't. Get out and explore, try a few different character builds, don't agonize over being hyper-efficient (I've been taking single quests instead of filling my quest log as I normally do in other MMOs), craft most of your items, scavange most of your resources.

I got it through Steam the other day for 25.00. I have played WoW, DF, WAR, AoC, Aion, LOTR, EQ2, MapleStory, Dragonica, Ryzom, Champions Online, FF11. Out of all of those, with the exception of WoW, I love FE. I love the community, the environment, I have been enjoying it, immensely, since i DL'd it. Granted it's been just 2 days but I have loved it.
However, I don't foresee FE being able to last 8 years while trying to get "better".

Not saying "Doom!!", but I am stating a pretty much guaranteed fact.
AO only survived this long due to being a technological breakthrough game back in 2001 ( remember to thank Funcom for every instanced mmo out there ), and being the only real sci-fi alternative ( outside of "Hi, I'm a spaceship" EVE ) in a sea of fantasy mmos afterwards, coupled with a small base of hardcore fans willing to put up with skeleton crew developers and customer service.
Trying to accomplish the same thing in todays market with a game that is NOT a breakthrough game, and a market full of mmo players who do not have the same amount of pity for poor launches and "make up patches" down the road as we had then, and FE does not currently have an optimistic outlook when they're "planning" on 150 levels and more content in "the future", when alot of their players are now at max 45 and wondering what to do.

For people saying they have played a long time and have top characters in their teens, you must play like 45 mins a day. I will be the first to say I have an above average play time, but in 45 days I have 2 lvl 45s (both with over 1100 AP, so don't say I skipped stuff) and another character at 25. I can craft every item in the game with a couple of exceptions.
I loved the concept of FE and didn't even mind the hiccups of lag, and invisible monsters at launch. But the accepted notion that only low-mid level content should be done at launch, is totally false. It may be the way that it is, but not the way it should be if you want to keep people paying every month. I am not even picky about what they need for something to do at the level cap, other than it has to serve a purpose. Mindlessly repeating the same 4 quests to open a box and get a resource that is hardly used in current recipes, does not serve a purpose.
But trust me, many players have left because of nothing to do that has consequence at the level cap. Some may come back when zones open up, some won't. But to pretend it is not a problem is being unrealistic.
I play much more than 45 mins a day.
But i don't rush through the game. I take my time enjoying the story, crafting, talking with people.
I do not rush through to max level as fast as i could because endgame isn't that important to me, plus, endgame isn't at lvl 45 because that is not the end lvl.
also, you're saying that in 45 days you have got 2 characters to the max lvl as of yet, AND also went around the faction wheel on each to get over 1100 AP?
i really don't think so.
not that its not possible....
just...... you must have no time for anything but FE if you have this. 2 level 45's each with over 1100 AP.....

If Darkfall can scrape by on the ugliness that was its first 6 or so months, FE will do fine. Darkfall is actually starting to deliver and get its feet under it, I have very high hopes for FEs future if that's any indication... its already well ahead of the "Indy curve". Plus its got a monopoly on the post-Apocalypse market until Earthrise is released... and I have a feeling that games going to appeal to a little more hard-core type of crowd than the average FE player.
I would say give it a try, im starting my 2nd week and am lvl 4 vista im not in a hurry and have been enjoying the quests. Crafting is alot different and real time which im not sure about but i think i like it. Some folks grumble about how long it takes to make a dune buggy or motor-cycle but in my opion this game will last. All kinds of help in the help channel and ive never not gotton help for anything ive asked about. Im pleased with the game so far but like some others are saying they need to spice up the end game some right now.
MAGA
Seeing as the SWG pre-CU was the pinnacle to you, FE is the closest you can get to that!
Crafting is awesome, combat is pretty similar to pre-CU SWG, fucktons of exploring to do (housing is on the way, along with "construction" tradeskill) solo-friendly with some group-requiring missions/instaces (more group content on the next big content patch, because of moderate lack of it currently)
6 waring factions you can join to fight over conflict towns, Mutations (spells for the camelotians
Vehicles ranging from ATV's, Motorcycles, dune buggies, horses to interceptor cars with varied fuel options including gasoline, biodiesel and electric.
Best community in current AND past MMORPG's i've ever encountered hands down! Fuckwads don't last in this game, they get stomped down by the community and the ever watching GM's whom are always online! No gold seller spam!! They've all been banned the minute some tried, and because of limited trials, they're all history (or too afraid to spam people/channels)
99% of the time you get answered on the spot by the "help" channels ever helpfull community.
Tonnes of RP if you want it, lots of RP events hosted by various RP guilds ranging from scavengers hunts, bar parties to motorcycle races spiced up by people with fashion sense and lots more
Well thanks to Couchetards generosity with a 15 day buddy key.
I got my first experience of FE today and I have to say i was impressed.
Having heard complaints from other of the graphics I'm not sure what the whines are about Its a very nice looking game on max everything.
Character creation fun and rather in depth.
Tutorial a little rough around the edges with some basics that you do need to know omitted along the way.
But thoroughly enjoyed things spent the last what i thought was 40 mins gathering to craft some crossbow bolts but it had in fact been 4 hrs Have set a load of bolts going overnight which is a feature I think is excellent.
Community so far is excellent certainly in the help channel I know very little of FE I havent really followed it in any way other than reading the odd article here and there and unlike the MMO's I follow where I know everything I don't with FE and I have asked a lot of questions throughout the day and every single one has been answered swiftly in a polite manner, No "FO back to WOW" or "crai some more noobs" as you see in 90% of today's MMO's.
Combat system is different but interesting requires that little bit of user input that keeps it fresh rather than hit tab spam macro like your traditional fantasy MMO's.
Character customisation 19 armour slots seriously WTF but in a good way.
Weapons you can carry again WTF tooled to the 9s and looks awesome for it.
Running around and scavneging crap, to many this has been a bug bear issue but to me it just adds to immersion its a apocolyptic world you not going to have sprawling city's everywhere and you would be grabbing up every piece of crap you find.
Really looking forward to the next few days of play and making a definitave decision on purchase but so far its looking good.
Welcome to the apocolypse!

Indeed. Spent the other night doing ap missions in S1 while listening to Post Apoc Radio. The whole time the DJ and a lot of the listeners (including a GM who made some requests) were in region chat recanting the good ol' days of 80s metal. Great community, even on those slow potentially boring nights.
Hell, I've been playing nearly two months and haven't raised a character past lvl 8. 'Course, I scrapped my first two attempts.
Still, you have to do some serious work to reach level cap in the short period FE has been released. No sympathy for those who don't have anything left to do. Go outside and play.
