I'd say play and find out for yourself.

Me personally, I'm enjoying the game thouroughly.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

So you are playing the game and like it and decide after playing it others should make up your mind?

Be a free thinker dude  don't let others lead you(unless you are the solider typeimage).

Lots of people trolling this game never point to places you can see a good review of EQ2.

Here in UK if anyone mentions the review of EQ2 in one of the most popular magazines here that gave it 95%(highest they ever rated a mmorpg by nealry 10%) you see people jump to immediately bash the review  and magazine.

You are playing the game and having fun as are many who are playing it and yet you see the need to actually listen to people who in the vast majority have never played EQ2 or claim to play it(points to the famous review on this forum by a suppose 40 rogue that did not even know what subclass he was and too lazy to go check it out and lie to us image).

I found out recently that I just did not have the time to play the game, but don't judge people who try to 1up the game with foul played comments. Judge it for yourself.

You'd be surprised Dark. I think it would be that simple too but the trolls don't stop.

yup, I'm currently lvl 39 and in a guild and I'm having a blast!

Don't give up on it yet. Make a decision for yourself. If you don't feel the game is right for you then that's your own decision. Don't let somebody make it for you.

Btw, joining a good guild can exponentially increase your fun through friendships and memories.

Haha EQ2 is flamed by 70% of people who have never played it. For example i was talking to my friend who has wow and never played EQ2 so i said I got EQ2(after he told he, he had wow) he said"wtf eq2 sucks" i said"fu you havent played it" then finally he said "so". And i believe that proves my point

i think one of the reasons some people flame eq2 is that they just play it to level, not to get into the game. look at my little xfire thing, almost 250 hours logged and im only level 22. what does that mean? it means im not always just trying to level. im doing quests, doing stuff with my guild, exploring, crafting and just trying to have FUN. i think if more people would stop worrying about rushing to 50 then they would have a whole lot more fun.

    Nah.

    I cant talk for others.

Me, when I flame EQ2, it is because I wish they build a much better system for my gameplay style.  I love what they did before and I was hoping for a lot...

Basically I am asking them to be more then what they are!  Which is plainly selfish of me, but also the nicest compliment someone can throw at someone no matter how much they dislike it.  Will my strategy to have a nice game work, nah, but it make me feel better!  image

Why so many peoples HATE EQ is like an old love relationship.  Now, in this case, it is always us that leave, so to leave and be rude?  Oky, they are not up to what we want, so we leave them...but...to be rude and angry?  Nah, I will keep strolling and remembering them what I want to see improve before I consider them again!  It keep me dreaming even if they feel I am an annoying little brat!  Also, there are other hot folks out there, who know?  image

I assume a lot of peoples that see an alternate product as a threat to what they enjoy could react badly, so folks that trash EQ2 or WoW or any game without really knowing them may do it in frustration, afraid to see their beloved precious shatter.

thats totally true. People do the same thing with WoW and then complain because they maxed out in a month.

Well, the game certainly doesnt bring anything new to the genre (aside from some graphical improvements and a few nifty UI changes), but if you've got alot of spare time and were obsessed with Whack-a-Mole as a child, I'd say go for it. As far as my oppinions go, I've found pretty much.. every MMORPG out there on the current market just isnt bringing anything new to the plate, thus isnt holding my attention/favor in any way. So there you have it, an unbiased oppinion from a guy who's been giving 1's for originality on a good 95% of the "released" MMORPG games thus far.

I had a lot of fun until around level 20, then the game substantially changes.  After getting four characters to 20 (one to high twenties) I am completley bored because of the rat-in-the-maze rules like locking you out of many zones, lack of any substantial soloing content for when you can't get a group (which is contrary to what they promised), and un-immersive combat rules which were put in with the best of intentions in order to stop power-leveling, but which ironically inhibit social interaction and helping others even in small ways.  It does indeed feel like button-mashing whack-a-mole game with no opportunity to discover or try different tactics on different mobs.  MOB AI is also non-existant.  Also, there aren't any pure fun things to do.  At least in the original EQ there were loads of ways to do stupid, fun things - even if it meant you got killed.

Its a shame - I was hoping to play EQII for years.  I'm completely bored with this one, and I played original EQ from a few months after release to Luclin and had great times.  There were many different ways to approach a fight in EQ 1, and you had to figure it out.  There is one and only one way to approach fights in EQ2.  That equates to boredom fast.  The graphics are very often impressive, but rarely has the game play in EQII made my pulse race.  Original EQ gave me many thrills and adrenaline rushes at various times - though it was far from perfect.

I hope DnL lives up to half of its hype and takes MMORPG's into a new direction.   Freedom, fun and adventure.  A game needs a good WOW factor and a sense of learning, accomplishing, helping and conquering - not just good graphics on top of a generic one-way ladder progression.

I have a post here which was talking about people on my friend's list who quit all did it in their 20s.That post 30 i am yet to see a single friend quit.

Also i said that a bad spell for EQ2 is really 20-30.

Also if you are a solo type then its not a good game.Basically ,guild is the best thing in EQ2.You can quest, raid and exp thru guild groups and most people either have a substantial friend list or are guilded.

Funny enough i think one big mistake SoE was not intrsoduce people to the need for tactics till their 30s.Until then they made it simple pull mob A and tank and heal and repeat.

But trust me once you start doing raid or end quest mobs hmm its a different ball game.I have fought a dragon and we got wiped 3 times before going back to rethink stragedyWe won with same people next time not because we used more higher levels or numbers but tactics.

We held the draon against a wall with the tank pinned with his back to the wall and dragon in front and meleed at maximum range from behind and healed from maximum heal range from the back. When running low on mana guardian 2 who had not used his pow took over from dying guardian 1 .

I could quote pages of different tactics on different mobs used in higher end game  and EQ2 is already reflecting that.

Go to each server and ask which guild has done the most in terms of hard encounters/quests its not that 200 plus guilds we have so many of ,heck many don't even have the highest average levels its the guild with most co operation and team work.

Yes i had more adrenaline rush from EQ1 then most games simply put it was risky.Die in a bad place in EQ1 you will struggle to get your body back.Die in EQ2 in a bad place simply let it re absorb after sometime or like many instanced zones click for recover the shard.

Risk=heart rate increase. But when you have nothing to lose but your pride  and little exp then not much to be bothered about.EQ2 tried to make things less fustrating for people as have most if not all newer mmorpg but end result the risk factor is dead.

First of all I feel the need to be honest. I hate SOE with a passion.

However, after having said that I think it is stupid to not play a game you are having fun with just because somebody else does not like it. Now if that person is a friend and you want to play the same game as they are then that is perfectly understandable.

But to quit EQ2 just because someone else does not like it does not make sense.

There are a lot of different games out there because none of them fit us all. Having the maturity to understand that and respect people who play a game you think is trash is something really lacking at times in the gaming community.

Nimrod, if your still just newbie and want to have some fun feel free to make a toon on lavastorm. Just watch for "Chainey" to log in, thats me. I would be happy to game with you, I have a small group of people I play with. I am only level 16 so you could get caught up to me and I haven't leveled any other characters yet except a 6 cleric.

I certainly wouldn't give up just because the noisiest few are here pipin' about it. Its what you want that matters the most.
