Before anyone starts flaming me for putting this in General Discussion, then let me make the following statement. Champions Online is not a MMORPG - it's missing the MM! - Hence I putted this thread into the non MMORPG related part of this forum.
For a solo game I had quite a lot of fun. And the character generation is awesome. I loved the cartoonish graphics, but I was acutally finding myself heading back to the "arena" part of the game again and again for one reason. Or well two.... I do like PvP, so that the obvious one. But the real reason was that I was wanting to play with other people and it seemed that was the only way.
I made 3 different builds. Where I took the lowest from 1-12 and the highest 1-14. Not at any point did the game try to push the idea of teaming and not once did I actually need to team to complete a mission. And yes... I did ALL mission available!
Just felt I needed to share my experience. I hope to find my next MMORPG soon.

Post in the right section next time. If you have different expectations of the mmorpg genre then that is unfortunate for you, but the game is an mmorpg, no matter how much you solo.
Back in Everquest my beast lord could solo most anything including a good deal of raid content. Yet Everquest is still an MMORPG as is Champions or WoW or a host of other games where solo is viable.
I had fun running many things solo I also had more fun teaming with other players and found by and large the champions community to be far more open than it is in some other games. I even had the chance to do content well beyond my level because instead of just shooing me away as often happens in other mmorpg games they welcomed me and found things that I could be useful doing.
So in short just because you chose to play solo and need to be forced into grouping it fails to change what the game is.
I tried the free weekend as well.
"You are never more lonely than when surrounded by strangers." That is the feeling the game gave me. Lots of people around - ignoring each other.

Honestly Ive taken part in both free events and had plenty of interactions with other players.
The problem with Champions is not that it's a solo MMO but rather that its a mono-experience mmo, nothing you do or say or try makes ANY diference to the response or offers ANY variety to the experience at any point. This has to be the first mmo developed that completely ignores the player and dispenses with any need to involve or immerse.
For those inspired by love of their avatar purely for its own sake (a legitimate crowd and the only people who are likely to get any fun from CO) the tendency is to set their mode to automatic, blank the mindless generic tedium all around and race to the end..... community and teamwork are inevitable casualties along the way.
Its as though Cryptic have managed to capture that jaded feeling you get after completing a game for the 10th time or more .... but delivered it on the first play through.
