I hope they add more payment options than FFXI

For FFXI you could only use credit cards.. No bank cards, no mail, no paypal, no pre-paid gamecards and as of August 2009 you can't use pre-paid debit cards since now they use that new pointless Visa/Mastercard Secure Code thing(the only MMo to do that) and debit cards don't have that. I don't have access to any credit cards and it's the only reason I'm not playing FFXI right now. I really hope they actually start caring about their customers and add more payment options or me and I'm sure a lot of other people won't be able to play FFXIV. ):

The secure code they added in was ridiculous, I imagine they lost a lot of players because of that.

I think I heard they weren't using Play Online for this game thankfully, so im hoping that means they'll have better payment options and such.

Otherwise no way of knowing until they tell us.

I think i do remeber some interviewer asking about that and them saying they would like to try doing time cards (i guess it depends on how well it does) but im pretty sure they learned from FFXI that we need more options (luckly my bank card had the visa thing on it so i was ok)

Also im very happy they learned that charging just at the end of the month was rediculous, i really hated that system and im glad they are stopping that.

We wont get more info on what kind of cards will work for it until VERY close to release so it will be a while until we can say anything substantial. Fourtunatly i quit a few months before the new password crap, i know they are doing it more for security reasons, but it was handeled poorly and was introduced way too late in the game (i know some people rumor they did it to start killing of accounts so they will move to 14, but i dont belive that mainly because 14 is still so far away)

    sorry ...

I mean I don't trust alakhazam in general ... there is just something fishy about that site. Last time I went there I scrubbed my PC squeeky clean then when to read something ran my scrubbers again and it found more problem. Cookies are benign

I'd really like to go for paypal and prepaid game cards. But mainly I would really like the payment system to start when you start and not just the first of the month deal. I'm fine with it the way it is though, just a little less hassle with a few more options

For PS3, I dont know why they couldnt use PSN as a payment option, Same with 360 MS points when/if it ever goes to that. You can buy those cards at wal-mart. That doesnt really help PC users though.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

Well the problem with that is you are engaging a middle man that you don't need to use. Just another person to take a cut of the action. Where it might be helpful for a handful of people from an business stand point you'd be handing a portion of your subscription base off to a third party. Digital distribution is not the same as a subscription system although my dream of GameFly and PSN partnering would depend on it ...

Think about it as a whole. You use a credit card to buy the MS points then use the MS points to buy a membership month then Microsoft would needs to inform SE about the payment then you get to play -or- you use a credit card to play SE and then you play. The answer is for SE to just have game cards.

Well the overlaying point was you can buy those psn/360 cards at wal-mart or any other store like it and not need a credit card. Of course if you have a CC then theres no need to go through the middle man.  I understand its not good to use a middle man, but if the middle man allows you to play a game where you couldnt otherwise then its not so bad.
