OK no kidding this time: I BOUGHT THE GAME yesterday....

I'm an ex-wow bored and hopeful for a game I could love and spending most time ripping on crappy MMO's.
After MMORPG banned me for trolling I thought, "why not just forget all the hate and really take a try at this game?" I logged in and spent 5 hours downloading the client (note that it all went very smooth.)
So I chose a human and started in the human hamlet and played for 7 hours and thought it was 3.
This is the answer to bored ex-wow pvp lovers.
I love everything about the game...not enough was ever said about how realistic the simple mode of attacking goblin mobs is done in this game...It's orders of magnitude better than wow. The gathering doesn't weld one to one's screen but lets you take time to housekeep other things or to run and grab a snack or catch up on that show you missed...but don't cry if you come back from a beer run and find all your sh!t gone and a writhing, dying toon haha!
You feel scared running out there and are forced to think twice about what's in your backpack. The economy looks like it's going to be like EVE eventually but without all the hub bub....you could lone-wolf this game and never get bored from the looks of being able to craft anything or play trader...not just second-rate nerfed crap like in wow.
Iv'e never been as excited about all of the choices ahead and where this could lead. Truly a remarkable game and here's to those of you who put up with haters like I WAS.
See you in game and no way will I reveal my char name so some could find and teach me any "lessons."

Glad you're enjoying yourself, and good for you for taking the plunge. I'm sure I don't have to warn you that the first week or so can be ruff on people. Though your first experiences are going to be awesome. Grab those Title quests and bank like a mad man.

I just joined this past Saturday and the start has been slow but I am enjoying every minute. I haven't done title quests yet. I have just been exploring in the orc lands for the most part. I always heard about the bad community(ForumFall is a bad representation of the community) but I ran into a guy while I was getting stomped by goblin shamen and fighters. He stopped to help me out and give me a few tips. He ended up inviting me to join his guild. I am in the process of harvesting mats for the guild to build up our city and to build a raft. I've wanted a boat of my own in a game since VG and now it is actually in my reach. But that is what I have found most alluring about DF is that I can go anywhere and do anything at anytime.....just as long as I watch my back. Oh and the combat is a great change of pace, for once I am finally involved with combat instead of clicking icons. The thrill of not knowing when someone is going to try to kill you is also pretty cool. It actually gives me a reason to pay attention instead of just mindlessly killing monsters like WoW (Not a shot at WoW or its players. I had a lot of fun in WoW but it is time for me to move onto something different).
While I think the game still has a some issues to hammer out I think AV is on the right track to make a successful game. I am really excited to experience the expansion/patch that is coming this week.
TIP: From one newbie to others, familiarize yourself with the UI when you first start out. It is a little tricky but works very well once you configure it how you want.

I think the hate metality comes from those who have been burned trying out MMO's that turn out to be the same ole same ole. They are jilted and this makes them less likely to try another MMO with more promises; atleast that's how I was. So I cannot apologize enough for my past remarks given how great this game is turning out.
The gripes abbout leveling might have been relevant IF THERE WERE NO LEVEL CAPS which there are. Hey, I think it;s rotten to re-set everything like wow has done over and over after all the hard work one does...it's not fair and never was.
I liked Eve excepting the fact that you have to be a ship. This game is Eve but not as controlled which is saying ALOT about the realism one faces (in a fantasy context of course.)
Also I like the gritty lawless nature of the game it's very refreshing.
Looking forward to joining a clan eventually and playing a game Iv'ebeen waiting for a very long time

My biggest gripe with Darkfall was the hackers when I played back in April. I don't mean the people that macroed skills, but the people that would run up to my tombstones and take everything in it in less than a second. It seemed everyone but me was using auto-loot programs. There were also people that would hide in solid-objects or just slip in the ground and then pop up a couple hundred feet from me. Seeing it with my own eyes made me quit because I don't find cheating fun in PvP centered games.

Well, we forgive you and all the new converts
But the haters got some valid points at the start of Darkfall, we had some serious issues. But to attack DF now is very polite, as Aventurine has iron out most of the flaws. Even if you don't like full-loot, you should support DF for the sake of the future of mmo's. This game is so refreshing different, and it's only getting better.
If you got some spare money or you are a former player, you should try it out after the patch. It's a rough but fun game.
And OP, welcome to Darkfall.

Ohh clever. You have seen that one on an old youtube I guess. Do you think that person got away with that act? I just wish the hackers would do stupid things like that, because then we'll get them banned.
Now you can go back to grinding your rep or whatever they do in your mmo these days
