The games who interests me the most is Vanguard, Istaria, Everquest 2, Age of Conan and Ryzom. I used to play conan a lot at release, but it's been a while now.

So while I would definitely not discourage people from EQ2....as a matter of fact, if everyone showed up and wanted to play on Everfrost server, I could easily get everyone into one of the large guilds ON the server, which is a great bonus in having access to a lot of master crafters, a beautiful (and HUGE) guild hall, tons of amenities, and it's a VERY nice and helpful group of 350 some odd people.  But as I was saying....I wouldn't discourage EQ2 as an option, but EQ2's trial....just really....blows.

Point is, we want to start out own thing. From scratch, see? Get all the experience of "something new" and solving the everpresent "no one to play with" problem all in one go.

    Ahhh gotcha...okay. :)

    Well then....

The only game (on that list) that I have next to NO prior experience with, REALLY then (a day doesn't count), would be Ryzom.

But I'd be willing to "start over" in any game you guys pick. I think it would be fun. :)

    It's nice to hear that!

Anyway, I'm off to work for now, see you guys in the evening!

Yeah about FFXI ... seriously messed billing as far as i read , has nothing to do with anything i encountered so far , it always gets billed on the 1 or 2 of the new month even if you start reactivate mid month , also yeah each extra toon is +1 ($,euro) per month that is a no go for me and i just bought a digital copy hehehehe. Anyway i ll replace FFXI from my wannaplay list with either lotro or CoX ( just to revisit them and cause they are sorta fun). P.

    Hi,

the project sounds a lot of fun. Please add me to the list, too.

From the listed games I'm most interested in the following games, but would join other games also.

    1) Everquest

Huge world to explore and challenging gameplay, a lot of group content.

    2) EQ II

Played it and found it fun. Lot to do: good crafting, housing, gods, AAs, collections, ...

But never got above level 30, because soloing is boring and it's hard to find groups for lower level content (even if they have a mentoring system)

    3) FFXI

Never played the game. Sounds interesting.

Nice idea, I'd be interested in taking part in this. Count me in!

I think the most interesting would be (In order)

    1) Final Fantasy XI - just dl, wanted an excuse to try it out

    2) Everquest - Always feel like I missed out on this.

3)DDO/Ryzom - Both sound interesting in their own way but don't know a whole lot.

I can't jump in right now as Mirkwood is about to launch, but who knows how long that will keep me interested. I am also interested in some RP, but if we try this we have to accept that we won't all want the same things. My only real issue is that I will not play a F2P game; a hybrid like DDO is fine.

FFXI - I had horrible lag, all servers are in the East and they never gave proper support to NVIDIA. But many have no issues; I really wanted to try it. This one I would not try again.

Eve - Many won’t like not having a proper toon but I would give it a go.

Vanguard - Played it and liked it, bit buggy and low population.

DDO - Been thinking about giving this a go, heard a lot of good things.

Also we won't get anywhere trying to work this out by committee. The best way is for us to give our ideas, the OP makes a decision and then those who can jump in. Guild loyalty stops me moving on right now but eventually I will.

    I'm up for joining in.

For me, it'd be Vanguard, Ryzom, EQ2 and EvE Online.

Don't take offense to this.. but you either have a terrible connection, or you are indeed just too far away. FFXI is capped at 56k. Noone is moving faster than that no matter what connection you are on. Thats one of the reasons I play it. I NEVER lag in it, EVER.

I agree with you on the 2nd points. This is just going to turn out to be a "in my opinion" thing.. and there is no way everyone is going to like the choice thats made for one reason or another.

I'm not sure why people get so up in arms about the fees for more characters. You really don't need more than one. The entire idea of the game is that you can do everything on ONE character. In my opinion its the best idea ever. I get so sick of rolling new alts, to have to do the same old content again. With the way FFXI works I can do all the content on one character, but I may wind up doing it with several different classes.  I have my main character and a bank alt. FFXI is cheaper than other mmos at 12.99.. so by adding that extra toon all I'm doing is putting the sub in the same bracket as all the others mmo's.

I think two of the MMOs with a most interesting future are EVE, with next expansion, and FFXI with the new sequel.

Sombebody mentioned it earlier, and it's important, we should be able to join in the same server, from any part of the world. (europe here).

Let me clarify something. I never played the game, i have the digital copy and i am willing to go there. It just stroke me as odd, nothing more or less. Thank you for the clarification though. If i can experience most of the content with multiclass feature then i am geared up to go :). Not sure though if this will work with my visa debid card . I suppose if thats the way to head i will have to keep it to 1-2 perhaps 3 characters. Thank you again for the info.

  • Hello all, good discussion going on, only have one hand that works so writing is a pain atm. But my votes goes to:

    1. Vanguard

    2. Ryzom

    3. Everquest 2

    4. Age of Conan - problem though, us and europeans play on different servers on aoc. Vanguard and eq2 doesn't have that problem, dunno about ryzom.

But I'm down for any game really.

Ryzom has international servers. And I think you can play on US AoC servers, if you buy it online.

I think I've added your answers, just forgot to add your mark. I'll recheck.

It doesn't have a trial and, well, the game doesn't really have the "world" feel, as far, as I'm aware.

Thanks. I'm still amazed how well this worked out.

It certainly doesn't, played it for open beta and first month and it's just new generation, totally linear.

Yes nice start for this "adventure"

The best thing is - we can try several different ones, and decide 1-2, we want to stay in. It truly pays to work with eople, sometimes.

    Awesome idea!  Count me in.

I'm most interested in Vanguard or Everquest II.  I've played both their trials and had a blast.  Unfortunately, as this thread is addressing, I had no one to play with.

I'll also throw a vote out for FFXI because I've never tried it.

  • I want to change my vote from aoc to Istaria, I really miss good old Horizons!

  • garbonzogarbonzo Member Posts: 260

Hey maybe we should have a "runoff" vote for the top 5 or so once we narrow it down.  So far it seems like Eve, EQII, FFXI, Van, and Ryz have the lion's share of votes.  I'm learning more about some of the games I didn't vote for just by reading this thread - changing my mind a bit.  Of course Goronian, if you just want to cut it off at some point and pick one based on what we have, I'm fine with that too.  All good stuff.
