WoW Newbie

You see, being my first game I ever bought was EQ2 I haven't played it yet since my computer can't run it yet (but it will soon) so I decided 'heck I have alot of Christmas money to burn off, why not buy WoW also?' So I did. WoW can run on my computer now so I was wondering maybe if some players would mind giving me their information so maybe when I make an account and all I could play with you and maybe some tips would be cool to. Anyways thanks in advance!

Well, personally, I play only on the RP servers (yes, I roleplay ::::30::). I currently have alliance characters on Silver Hand and horde characters on Silver Hand, Earthen Ring, and Feathermoon. From my experience, Earthen Ring has the best RP OVERALL, but Feathermoon is very good as well. If you dont want RP, I'd suggest avoiding the PvP as once you hit contested land, you WILL be ganked by someone 10+ levels above you. Unavoidable as right now, theres no penalty for killing lowbies. Once the Battlegrounds free expansion comes out, their instituting an honor system that will allow for new items for those with high honor and you lose honor for killing people too far below you. We'll see if that fixes things...anyway hope that helps.

If ya want a stable PvP server then you may want to try Magtheridon. Havent had much downtime on it. M'name is Gnomercy, although I dont play that often now since Im playing WoW and PS (wish i had 4 hands, 2 heads and lots of money so i can play them both non-stop).
If you dont care about PvP and/or hate getting ganked from time to time then I suggest u join a regular or if you like roleplaying and/or are picky about community then join roleplaying server.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

My advice to you is to say what class you want to play.(if you haven't decided yet do that before you pick a class and try it.

If you have chosen a class and a race then look where your startingpoint for your race is, a lot of sites have maps wich are downloadable and have information about certain places(it spoils a bit but if you have the map you don't have to ask or search for places for each quest you do).

Also try to find some faq's for the job you have chosen, on the official wow forums you can find also class forums where a lot of people post their xp with that class and also point out some handy things.

If you start the game and come in your hometown then don't run out and start lvling.
Just talk to all the NPC's with a ? above their head, those NPC's all have quests for you and give you nice xp, items and money.

For the first 30 lvl's quest xp is pretty good and it is adviced to do quests instead of grinding lvl's.(wich get boring at certain times)

You can also see some posts on the officail wow forums about places to hunt at each lvl.(just some extra info you can get wich make playing easier)

Hope you have enough info for now.

rogue if you like fast damage and decent armor. Mage f you want HUGE damage and shittastic armor. stay away from Warriors is my advice untill blizz makes them stronger. Ive never played paladins to long i can tell you there are really strong (perhaps to strong?) shamen are also quite awesome for healing and good dps and ive never played a hunter.

Well it all depends on your personal playstyle.
Do you like to be a tank, magetype or something like a warlock or hunter.

First of all race isn't very important as the difference aren't that big like in other games.
First decide what side you want to play, allience or horde.

Hehe, i think i saw you on PS yesterday. Wondered why the nick sounded familar:)

But getting back to the topic. The one thing you gota do while playing is NOT lvl to fast. WoW sucks high end and is realy good at lower lvls, unlike every other game i have played.

So take your time when leveling because the game only gets worse at ths point of time. But they should fix that soon...ish...

I've been playing WoW now for about 2 or 3 weeks, only lightly though, i've had my exams :( and i've discovered many things about the game already, one being that it's awesome, two being it ain't givin me the excitment EQ1 gave me when i first got it about 3 or 4 years back, pre-luclin (but will anything??) back to the topic..

I noticed instantly i liked the look of the Hunter, so i made one.. BANG guns blazin, mobs half dead before it gets to you. I was killin mobs about 3 levels higher than me.. excellent.. But around lv17/18 i started to get bored..

So i cracked open a shammy, now this class is overpowered, hell, i dont think overpowered discribes it - shizhot armor, great weapon dps, great spell dps, great spell protection, great healing.. all in one small tauren, couldn't ask for better.. Think i'm gonna stick to this class more and this is a class i'd reccommend to anyone, along with Warlock, but mine's only lv5, rocks never the less...

I've got a paladin also, at level 5 or 6, he's good for when i have no Horde friends online, as you cant add opposing forces to friends, or even send messages....

I'm on Kargath server, im english too, so if anyone wants to join me - i'm online most of the time now my exams are over :):)

he's ex-EQ, this site jus to be a mediocre EQ reference site, but he's turned it into an awesome and well laid out WoW site.. a must see :)

<-- Jalonis of Midnight Raiders on Illidan.

And i'd really suggest rogue as a first character, it's really straightforward and overall levels insanely fast.
