NOTE: Allods Online is the largest game development project in Russian history ($12 million).
It is a F2P MMO.
Allods Online so far is my favorite MMO ever. It is F2P, and whenever I hear F2P I generally think the game will suck compared to P2P games and will have an overpowerd item shop. Allods Online does not suck. The cash shop is not overpowerd. The game is just overall awesome. The world is huge, and the environments just feel awesome. The graphics are my personal favorite of any MMO I have ever played. Yes, I played Age of Conan and I like these graphics more because I just do I guess lol. The sky is awesome too btw, the clouds move and stuff. The combat isn't that bad, but it needs some work. The sounds need some work also. The end game seems awesome. The ship combat, ship exploration, hauling treasures, and stuff like that seems awesome. However, I can't judge the end game because I haven't played the end game and end game is a very important thing.
I'm not doing a full review of this game or anything like that lol, but just saying a few things about it. Overall the game is awesome, and this is just closed beta. I expect the game will have improved a decent amount by the time the actual game launches.
Yes, I expressed my own opinions in this thread, but who else is falling in love with this game? It seems Allods Online so far is kinda flying under the radar, and it doesn't seem a lot of people know about it yet.
There are 800 closed beta keys left, so grab a free one if you want to.

it's pretty, it's got style, but when all is said and done, you still retrieve 10 rat tails from the engine room.
A lot of MMOs have grindy quest, but not all of the quest are horrible. Allods Online isn't reinventing the MMO genre, but I think it's a really fun game.

allods online in it's most fair review would be classified as a theme park game. it was too mundane, linearity in mmorpgs is becoming more frequent, allods online is no exception.
I'm not saying Allods Online is a sandbox game, it definitly doesn't seem to be. However, the world is pretty big. Also, I think the gameplay is fun. A game can be theme park and be fun. It doesn't have to be a sandbox filled with a small amount of content spread out among huge amounts of land that are just there to be there in order to be fun.

The whole game is depending on how good ship to ship combat is.
Yes, that is a very important thing and I can't judge the end game because I haven't played it yet. But yes, the end game needs to be awesome. I don't think the whole game is depending on how good ship to ship combat is though. What I mean is yes the end game is very important, but I like to quest and explore the world and not just do end game content. The world so far is really fun to explore in Allods Online.

Largest Russian game development project or not, it still reminds me of WoW/WAR mixed with something like Treasure Planet. =P
Check out the MUD I'm making!
I might give it a shot. Theme park MMOs are fine with me as long as they're well done, and I've heard interesting things about this one.
I like the game as well, it remind me of World of Warcraft but with more of the steampunk reality (fancy clothes, steampunk golems, fancy cities everywhere you go, etc). I like the summoner on both side by looks because they just look awesome to me. I have not tried all the other classes but summoner is pretty awesome but I expect some more improvement.
So from what i heard, all we can do when we reach very far is get a ship and travel to different allods looking for treasure... that's all I heard of and that's not alot of content at all, we need something more then just ship combat and looking for treasure. We need something dramatic and stuff, I'll be nice if there was some type of RvR into the game, and see NPC warring each other at the two nations. RvR can really make this game look kinda better, if they add more benefits then what warhammer has, as warhammer get's boring and the benefits is not really great.
The problem that I usually have with Allods Online now is the lag, and the version is corrupted shit during installation, although I got it fix and they working on a permanent fix right now, it be nice if they can fix both and make different servers so I don't see a huge clusterfuck of people grabbing everything that I need... like the lynx for example.
MMORPG still has 25 Closed Beta keys left.

Aside from this belonging in the Allods forum, I experience this game as much a mundane code/pve-centric time-sink as much as many other western and asian mmo's.
Allods Online is a PVP based game, not PVE based. The devs have said that and stuff. The Open World PVP doesn't start until level 20 though, and the Closed Beta 2 level cap is 20 so I guess people might be able to experience PVP now. The first Closed Beta level cap was 10. You can always PVP before that though in the arena where you can fight people in your own faction, but the real PVP seems to be the open world PVP and the end game ship content. Also, I think I read something about PVP in dungeons and stuff.
