For a new player? Got some 'decent' skills trained, and have me a gallente destroyer, and now I am wondering what t do. I want to do more missions, but i need something that could be classified as what to do after you finish the tutorial.
I am also saving up for a cruiser.
I only have 10 days left on my trial, but I hope to get this game for christmas.

Are you interested in exploration?
If so I have a mission for you
Search out "sisters of Eve" They have some interesting missions and offer the best scan probes in the game as a reward for a mission they do.
Now go out there and get me some results.
ugh. Anything BUT scanning is what I am good at. I want to do combat missions, but I don't know where to begin. I have done some stuff and gotten a few loyalty points, but it nearly costed me my ship on more than one occasion. I need jobs in between tutorial missions and missions that a poorly equipped destroyer wont be able to handle. (all I have right now are light railguns. All my energy weapons are on my Tristan.)
I would suggest getting in to a good corp. Have one of them help you pay for a cruiser. DON'T use a destroyer for solo playing. It's meant to be a support ship. It's like a giant frigate. Have friends tell you how to fit the ship. people are actually nice in this game
^_^
You probably won't be able to get in a decient corp that early. However being that you are gallentee you should have standings to get missions with the Federation Navy. Couple was to find a agent you can use. The easiest is to bring up the info on the Federation Navy. This can be done in people and place search function for corp. Once you bring that up, there will be a agents tab that lists every agent for that corp and also tells you whether or not they will give you jobs. Generally speaking you should be able to handle most lvl 1 agent missions with out too much trouble. Also make sure you find a Command, Security, or intelligence agent (any agent in a division with one of those 3 words in it will work). Then you just have to fly to the station listed below the agent. Watch out some may be in low sec.
Thanks for the tips. I will be sure to check for fresh agents. I didn't really know the people & places tab could be used to find people I haven't met before, but I guess I never really bothered to look either. I just use it for bookmarks to get me to mining locations faster, or to allow me to always have my station available to set course to at a faster way.
As for my Destroyer, I kinda figured it was a support ship from the first moment I used in on a mission, but regardless, it does well when combating my current level enemies, so I will be sure to use it until I am at a disadvantage using it, or until I get enough money to purchase the cruiser I want (I really only want it because of the way it looks. I should probably go with the Exequror, but I really want the Thorax.)
As for a corporation..... Got any recommendations for me to request access to?
Also, if anyone wants to look me up: Michael Envy is my current primary.
I would look into the Vexor as a Gallente mission cruiser. The ability to do drone damage at a distance is invaluable. Once out of the destroyer drones are a necessity. You can learn allot by using a thorax with rails but the ship need more drone space to really be effective for missions IMO. It's difficult to keep the hybrids in range and the NPC's slowly take out your drones. Just allot more options with a Vexor. Blaster have always been a no go to me for missions, just to easy to get swarmed as they have no range at all. The Gallente have great BC and BS drone boats for missions too. The Vexor has always seemed like the first logical step to me.
Drones are much more important to Gallente than the hybrids IMO.
stretch your legs a bit, try your hand at mining or a little manufacture. as far as combat goes, check that all your weapons are the same type, loaded with the same ammo and have the same optimal ranges. try to orbit your target at that optimal range to ensure maximum damage output while minimising your exposure.
as far as tank goes, check that you are focusing on a single tank type, armour or shield. if you post your fit here ill critique it for you and suggest some changes.
