    I couldn't agree more.

I think If we actually had more constructive threads on this site, there might be more Devs perusing mmorpg.com . In which case they could have a better understanding as to why so many new mmos are doing so poorly. And perhaps we wouldn't be getting crap game after crap game.

    I dunno.

the whole thing behind this project is "simple sells" look at the info provided today and you see that is at the heart of this thing.

Push a button and teleport home.

push a button and call a companion

    push a button and respec

I am waiting for the push a button and win along with the push a button and save options to be announced. yea I really think they will end up with some kind of save so you can go back to these flash points and do them again if you think you pushed the wrong button the first time!

I guess I am frustrated that every game I see anymore is targeted at the under 12 market. Man are these things every getting dumbed down. Way Way down.  but with this game especially because it was abioware game. I thought they had some guts but no. Its obvious that bigger is better and simpler is bigger.

I hope that the main focus will be simple to learn, hard to master...

So players can for example choose a path and all stas/skills/bonusses will come automativally, all they need to do is level...  But more experienced players could tweak and set everything by hand till the finest details to perfectionise a certain style... and then switch with a button to another profile that specialised in another field...

Same with companions, you should be able to tweak you compainons skillset to the finest details...could be much fun..

Your assumptions are a bit premature, lets wayt till we see what the game gives us, people love to tweak and min max their characters till the finest details when they are experienced, otherwise they will loose interest in the game after a few weeks/months, but the majorrrity of people also needs a game that is easy to start with and that feels like the game is centered around them and they are the true heroes of the world... When they begin they dont want to think about stats gear to much, they just want to have fun..

I hope the focus is more on skills then on gear.. but that is not the way current MMO developers think..

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

This game will be the portal through which demons come forward and devour mankind. BioWare has intentionally made it for the express purpose of angering sandbox game fans and DF fanbois. They have shown videos with buttons on them, and because of that pre-beta footage, I assume these buttons are attached to bombs in small independant dev studios that will wipe out the future of this genre (because they couldn't possibly be part of the dev's UI for debugging and won't be in the release).

This is a single player game, that you can solo 95% of, grouping only for "flashpoints". No other game has a mechanic where you can do tasks on your own and only have to gather in numbers to accomplish larger goals. If such a game existed, it would probably require the souls of kittens as a monthly fee.

As a offended crazy person, I will not only not buy this game, but I will take large chunks out of my Darkfall playing time so I can attack this game and the people who are interested in it. This is how deeply BioWare has offended me by not making the game I want them to make. As a developer of story-driven quality RPGs, you would think they would know better than making a story-driven MMORPG. the audacity of this company makes me sad at night. If the wildly successful KOTOR has taught us anything, its that people hate story driven games. They want poorly finished sandboxes that release with broken content and require massive preparation to accomplish anything, just like the moderately successful SWG

I have a hard time believing that any quests that Bioware makes cant be up to par with WoW's quests.

Eurogamer has lost all credibility for me.

    That's before I wonder how a quest can't be on par with "go x, kill 10 y."

I'm not here to complete my forum PVP dailies.

Yeah its very sad that "" Eurogamer "" has made a name for themselfs where you are better off just skipping what they say. For the most part its how they feel about it.. so if they dont like it then is sucks.. lol..

As for SWTOR.. its WAY to early to even guess.

Love all the bollocks about it being a single player MMO when no one here has even played it or seen footage that is long enough.

You sir just made me lol :D

Now to address all these damn whiners!

I loved Pre-CU SWG, but I was not blind to its numerous faults like the rose-coloured-glasses brigade that frequent these forums.

If any of you SWG 'Vets' thought that this game was going to be anything like Pre-CU SWG you must be totally bananas!  BioWare makes amazing story-driven RPG's, it is what they have always done.  They are bringing that expertise to the MMO genre and it is something that the genre sorely needs.  Who has played an MMO to date with a decent storyline?  I certainly haven't, closest is LotRO, but it misses the mark for me on many levels.  This game is gonna be a lot of fun imho, nothing like SWG was fun back in the day, but a whole different kind of fun.  Hell, I must have played through KOTOR 40+ times since 2003.

I know a lot of you are crying out for another sandbox MMO, and there are a few coming out in the next few months, Mortal Online for your Fantasy fix and Earthrise for your Sci-Fi fix to name just two.

So, why don't you all give up trolling the SWTOR forums with your incesant whining about shit that is NOT going to change.  BioWare are making a BioWare game, get used to it or GTFO! :p

    MMORPG History:
    Playing - EVE Online.
Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion.
    Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9).
Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.

The way the quests are given in TOR compared to WoW: Cataclysm are far superior. How could they not ? Also since I have played alot of Bioware games, their quests are more objective/goal based compared to WoW's "go kill 10 rats" type of quests. It is obvious that WoW makes alot of people money and they aren't about to say anything is better than WoW because of it. It is sad but yet so true.

What do they mean by this? How can fully voice-acted and highly scripted quests NOT compare well with WoW's quests? I can't imaging TOR's quests being anything but vastly superior... I guess we can only wait and see.

THAT is indeed a good question. How can TOR NOT be superior to WOW in every single aspect?? *__*

Because while WoW is a super casual MMO light, at least its an MMO, whereas TOR is an expensive single player game with cartoon graphics?

    MMOs suck balls anyways.

    EDIT:

(quote)  "A lengthy set-up with a mad Sith Lord and his acolyte - whom you can choose to conspire with to betray the Lord, securing yourself two quest rewards and some bad karma - leads to a straight fetch-quest: go in the cavern, kill the beasts, bring me their brains. "

I KNEW IT! I TOLD YOU SO. hahaha!

Ok, I am kinda relieved such standard quests are there, since that makes grouping, normal MMO grouping, possible.

    You really want shitty quests?

So this game basically is Knights of the Old Republic III but went with the Star Wars title because that sells more game boxes?

If you have played anything like KOTOR or Dragons Age, you wouldnt think this. Character class customisation is more diverse then classes in most classbased MMORPG's. In those games, companions offer the same customisation as the main character.

As for if the main story will be on rails,I have no clue. No one has yet.

I say rock on Bioware. The thing that will make a successful launch is the strength of the initial game the characters level through. By adding companions they make the game solo friendly and cut out all the negative experiences players can go through while levelling in a conventional mmorpg, such as grouping with annoying idiots through dungeons or being ganked by 10 year olds for hours on end while trying to complete a FedEx-style quest. You don't need a vast end-game to begin with, it can be patched in after launch. Just need enough of a challenge to keep players going once beyond the initial levelling game and to make the levelling game immersive and interesting enough for players to play through more than one class.

Eurogamer only got a glimpse of very small portion of the game and due to non disclosure cant offer up but an opinion based on a very small amount of gameplay, more than likely at the starter area.

(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH raises plunger in salute to Bioware!)

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes

    Indeed it has.

What I mean is that SW:TOR will be more like KOTOR III that you can play online than the STAR WARS MMORPG wanted by the fans.

This will be a monthly fee kind of a game and on top of that a cash shop that you will have to spend money on because thats how they design the games that have these things and you will have to pay extra for more content beyond the bare minimum at launch.

Enjoy being milked for your every dollar by EA.

They mean that right now WoW questing is a step ahead of questing in TOR. Voice over doesn't magically turn a bad quest system in a good one, rather the contrary, it can be even more annoying.

I for one find it impossible to believe that a game which has 5 years of development behind it could be better than a game in beta.
