Parkour a new sport.

Hey everyone i just wanted to know what you guys thought about this sport.

What is Parkour?
"Parkour is very basically the art of movement where participants (otherwise known as 'Free-runners') use objects within their urban surroundings, to create new and interesting ways of moving. It encompasses running, jumping, vaulting and climbing to overcome these obstacles, where the ultimate aim is to do so in the most fluid and flowing way possible. For people unfamiliar to Parkour, the easiest picture to paint is to say that what we do is the closest you can get to the Matrix, Spiderman and Hong Kong martial arts movies in the sense of movement, but without the need for special FX or wires. Get past that mental picture and what you have in front of you is a deep discipline where, as a beginner you'll find yourself practising plenty of singular moves (similar to how skaters practise) but as you become more proficient, you'll find yourself automatically linking things together with the eventual goal coming in the form of one fluid run without any hesitation. Parkour has always been there from the very beginning....You just need to open your eyes and then go out to explore." -www.urbanfreeflow.co.uk-

I've been doing this sport for 2 years now and i wanted to know what you guys think. It is very hard to understand this sport without seeing a video, so here is a video of me and my crew practicing. (http://pkaero.com/images/media/videos/AeroReanimation15mb.wmv) Or you can find it within the media section at www.pkaero.com

Please let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Clorinth (Aka Cloud)

where i come from we call that freestyle walking, i started doing that with a couple of my friends in my mid teen years (quite a few years ago, and if you mess up on the flips...ouch...dont know how many times i have had the wind knocked out of me) its nothing new. not to burst your bubble or anything, we also did a lot of skateboarding and bmx. we did this a lot though when we didnt have access to our other toys (like at school, and whatnot) very cool video though, well done.

Free style walking is with soap show where there are grinding plates on the bottum of your shoe. This is Parkour and more serious then free walking. The concepts of this sport are vastly different.

Firstly, I have to ask "Is this even a sport?" I cant decide, i guess it could, but under what heading would it be? And secondly, this has been around for awhile. I saw a video a couple of years back and thought it was pretty cool, that is until I accidently hit my balls on a post, and since lost interest in it. (Also it was in a car commercial, I cant remember which one)

I've seen other stuff way closer to those martial arts moves that isn't PKing. I never saw neo hop over a fence or jump off of monkeybars at the playground.

But hold the flaming, you said you wanted an oppinion and that's mine.

anyway, what me and my friends did was almost exactly what you guys were doing (except yes we had special made shoes with grooved plastic grind plates) but the moves and crazy stuff you guys were doing ( or attempting to do, not always successfully) we did them all plus much much more. its the same idea and we didnt really consider it a sport it was more of a pastime.

The commercials for it are Nike, and Scion. If anyone whats to learn more there will be a show on tonight on the TLC channel at 8 o clock CENTRAL time. I will actually be in the show at the very end.

The Matrix and spiderman stuff were to give you a visual idea to see what it is hinting at because to most people it is hard to see.
