Laptop Gaming Problem

SerenySereny Member Posts: 5

Hi guys. I'm playing Jade Dynasty on my new Toshiba A300 laptop with 4gb, intel core duo 2 T5800, and integrated graphics. Running on Windows Vista.

I'm experiencing some big lag because of the laptop when we do fort wars, or when there is a huge mass of people ingame. I have set all graphics to low and still and can not play in that way.

I would like to ask you for some help, changing windows, drivers etc, to help me a bit with this shity lag. The game requires really low requirements liek 1gb ram, 128mb graphics etc..

It is based on Intel.  It uses an Integrated video card.  It cannot game.

Only thing I can suggest is disable Aero if it isn't already. If you could downgrade to XP that would probably help a little bit but you have a severe limitation with the integrated Intel.

So you guys are saying that the problem is in my Integrated GC?

Yes.... None of the three possible video solutions in the A300 are good. You are screwed when it comes to gaming. Sorry but I have no suggestions for you. There is no way to fix your problem without buying a new laptop with a dedicated graphics solution that is better than the current solution you have.

Here is a website that has very detailed information concerning laptop video solutions. They are rated from best to worst.

Use it as a guide if you plan on purchasing a new system. It also has a detailed rated list of laptop CPUs

also check this site out for daily deals on laptops.

They update daily. I bought my HP pavillion DV7 on there for next to nuthin. GREAT site.

Ok thanks for help. I have a desktop and will try the game on it, if there doesn't work I think I will just buy an average desktop to play the game for 400$ or smth.

Laptops in general are not that great for gaming, even if they are built for it. I mean sure you can maybe play newer games on a custom built $1500+ laptop, but that is a lot of money for something that will pretty much become useless in less than 1.5 years.

If you do plan on trying to game with a laptop, look for those with discrete video chipsets (ATI, Nvidia) that also offer discrete video memory (as sometimes the video memory will be shared off of the system memory). If you are using a laptop to play games, playing while plugged into a power source will allow you to set options in Windows to allow more power from the CPU/GPU (wont be that great of a boost, but every lil bit counts). Also make sure there is some good air flow around the laptop (cooling stand, etc).

If your laptop is using an Intel intergrated solution, you are pretty much SOL as to gaming.

Ok, lets put laptop away now and please tell me what i should focus on when buying a desktop parts.

For mmorpg games what is most important to have? A good CPU, motherboard, RAM and graphic card, what is most important?

lol, you're opening a huge can of worms Sereny by asking about PC builds :)

Heres a quick rundown from most important to least:

    1. Motherboard
    2. Power Supply
    3. Video Board
    4. CPU
    5. Memory

Im going to leave my personal opinions out of what brands you should buy etc.  By the time this thread is done Im sure you'll be in over your head in opinions.

    good luck!

You can play games (2005 or older) on any AMD laptop now since the inception of 780G standard.  Granted you won't always be able to play the best games, but you can play games.
