EVE Online: Dominion Deployment Begins Tonight!

MikeBMikeB Community ManagerAdministrator RarePosts: 6,555

Dominion, the 12th free expansion to EVE Online is scheduled to begin deployment tonight at 6PM PST.

There is a catch, however, to today's announcement. There will be some considerable downtime during the expansion's deployment, as the game is not scheduled to return until Tuesday, December 1st at 1PM.

As a result of the lengthy downtime, CCP Games is recommending that players set a long training skill for the duration of the deployment period. Once the game returns players will be required to download a small update, and then be cleared to jump right back into EVE!

For more information on Dominion, check out the expansion's official site here.

I can't believe it will be a "small" patch ;)

I guess it was like that for many contracts (auctions) that have their end time during downtime, in the last minute, there was a bidding fury, you couldn't place a bid, it told you right away that the minimum amount had increased just for the time you take to click ok...

Now, it's waiting game to see if the patch deployment will end on time!

And then, we'll have the server surprises... Patch day, no play!

Sweet. This is gonna be a dope expansion, but it is gonna be MAD chaotic when the servers open up.

And as with every single other EVE expansion, expect further delays than the times given. That's just how it always happens. Still worth it.

There's a lot of eggers out there in the Real World twiddling their thumbs trying to figure out what to do right now... lol.

EVE is still only a hardcore PVPers only game   and  casual players and non-PVPers  are less than 2nd class citizens   content in the non PVP areas has bairly moved  since release  save for the occasional ship   anything that has appeared for non-pvp  has been  only available on zero-space  innaccessable to casual players.

so if youe casual/ non-pvper that loves getting  expensive ships  routinly destroyed  or love  handing out looking at the station walls  while your under yet another war declaration  stay away from this game full of PVP jerks.

this new expansion is yet more of the same pvp only crap.  that is why they are so small  the only reason they have non-pvp players at all is they are the only choice for scify/space MMO.

make a world, not a game, we dont want another game.

What this man is trying to say is, if you love PvP and aren't a wuss, than EvE wants you! ;)

What this guy here fails to mention is the most advanced trading system in any game to date, to say if you don't PVP there's nothing to do is laughable, the ammount of people in empire space who run agent missions, mass produce items and deal in trading is immense infact i would say there are more people in empire doing this stuff than there are people in 0.0 killing stuff.

Personally i've always been into the PVP side of the game but there are a hell of alot of people who aren't, also to say nothing has changed since release in regards to none pvp is a joke, unless you mean quests with little golden marks holding your hand n showing you where to go then no there isn't but then EVE isn't a theme park game it's a sanbox.

While I enjoy 0.0 I hate when people say Null sec Eve is the only way to play.

You guys realize that Eve's Sov wars are only used by 10-15% of the Eve playerbase?

I think we have more people taking advantage of low sec roams/FW and Wormholes right now and certainly more players in empire doing indy stuff and mission running.

Eve is what you make of it and if someone wants to be a high sec miner, trader, explorer or mission runner then it's their choice.

I'll be completly honest with you. I am more excited about revamps to fleet finder for FW than I am any cap or sov revamp.

As I play more and more I've become more and more casual and it's alot easier to take part in FW with this new fleetfinder mechanic than it was playing 0.0 defense.

Oh and now all the "Pro players" in null have to work 0.0 like slaves in a cotton field just to keep upgrades from deleveling its even more dependent on player activity.

    PLaying: EvE, Ryzom

    Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
